[Adrian's POV]

The tension comprised of deep-seated resentment that had accumulated for years enshrouded them. Even if it wasn't directed at him, as he was no longer part of any of this, Adrian could feel it in powerful waves that he feared it might topple all the stuff on the nearby shelves.

"Raymond?" called a woman's voice from an aisle to their left, diffusing the rising tension in the toy section. She smiled at them as she approached. "Oh, it's really you! Hi!"

"Mommy!" The little boy standing in front of Johan ran forward to meet her while holding a box. "Mommy, I want this toy?"

"What? Again? But you already have so many toys at home!"

Ah... so that was Johan's stepmother and Russell's sister. She looked rather young, around her mid-30s. And she had this warm-hearted vibe in her; a rather surprising contrast to Russell's nasty personality. If it wasn't for their resemblance, Adrian would doubt they were siblings.
