101 THE 19TH ACCOUNT: BECKFORTH VS. FRANCUA 3

After I found out who the man behind me was, my heart skipped. He quickly put his finger on his lips to signal me to be quiet and guided me to sit down on the ground. That's when I realized that the tree had a wider lower trunk, enough for the both of us to be hidden completely. 

When we were already seated, he took his hand off my mouth and smiled at me. I smiled back, "Jacob," I whispered.

He tucked my hair behind my ear and signalled for me to be quiet. I nodded. The enemies' footsteps were getting closer and closer. Jacob put his right arm around my shoulder and drew his pistol with his left. 

I could feel a presence on the right so I scooted towards Jacob some more. My hand landed on his chest. My hands remembered how they felt and I blushed. I looked up to him. It was already dark but I could feel him smirking. He winked at me. I made a face and hit him on the shoulder. He winced and I felt my hand get wet.
