74. Most Beautiful
Soon it was the day of the party. At midnight RuQian celebrated her birthday with her grandfather, Lan Xie, Amy, Secretary Ren and the rest of the household workers with cake and snacks. Her friends were going to sleep over, they would spend the whole day together and together they would head to the hotel in the afternoon to get ready.
They went to their rooms after partying for a while. In the morning RuQian received wishes from Lan Xie's parents, Amy's parents, Bai Xing and his family, teacher X and from Master Liu. She wondered if Mu Chen was nearby when Master Liu called her but she stopped her train of stupid thoughts.
The day was spent with the girl's giving each other mani-pedi's, facials and just chatting about all the nonsense in the world. They ate a light lunch and left for the hotel. Her grandfather had already arranged for hair and make-up artists for them at their hotel suite.
As evening drew closer media personnel crammed outside the hotel to take photos and videos of the invited guests. Only the invited media were allowed to enter the hotel ballroom so the other reporters could only stay outside.
Slowly the invited guests started arriving. Some famous radio hosts, women of the elite social circles; These women weren't really respected, they only knew to gossip and had never worked a day in their lives. Then some unknown girls arrived, these were the students who had received Lan Xie's invite.
Famous businessmen, models, directors and actors arrived; some with dates, some with their families; in the latter half. This was truly the biggest party of the year and all this was just to celebrate a 16 year old girl's birthday.
All the guests started mingling in the party. Both Lu Xu Mei and Wan Wan were shocked to see most of their classmates in the party. 'Good, I will destroy that slut's image not only in the elite circles but also amongst her schoolmates.' Lu Xu Mei rejoiced inwardly.
She wanted to mingle around and talk to a few directors but because there were so many girls from her school in the party, many directors went up to some students they felt looked good wanting to ask them what career option they would choose. Neither the media nor the other guests felt weird with all the teenage girls present. After all the party was for a teenage girl, so this felt quite normal.
Most of the invited reporters were gushing over the decorations in the ballroom. The guest list was already spectacular as it is but the decorations were splendid too. The hall was decorated in a red, gold and white theme. The huge golden crystal chandelier was in the centre of the hall with red and white drapes covering most of the chandelier's body.
On one side of the hall were finger foods served in gold coated utensils and on the other side was a huge bar, only for the adults usually, but since there were many teenagers, there were many types of non-alcoholic drinks for the kids. Fruit drinks, non-alcoholic mojitos, carbonated drinks. It was similar with the food, even if it was just finger foods, there were too many options. It was almost like a feast.
On the opposite side of the main entrance was a stage with a huge screen in front of which a string orchestra was playing Louis Andriessen's Symphony for Open Strings. The rest of the hall held some round tables covered in red and white linen. White primula flowers were arranged all around the ballroom giving the hall a slight sweet fragrance. There was a huge empty table to the side near the entrance where the workers received the birthday gifts prepared by the guests. Unbeknownst to the guests, the workers slowly scanned each gift they received to make sure there were no harmful objects.
The ballroom was surrounded by many doors which either led to a maze of corridors or connected to several other similar ballrooms that were currently empty. If the signs on the stylish wooden boards weren't present, even the guests would've gotten lost while arriving. To add to that most of the corridors were dark, only the ones being used were lit. All the corridors were designed in the same manner with white drapes flowing slightly on huge glass windows or balconies. The hotel used all the ballrooms only when international business conferences or international modelling contests were held.
This was the first time the guests had seen a teenager's birthday party be this lavish. Even the rich people were starting to feel a little jealous of the unknown teenager. Lu Xu Mei was boiling on the inside, not only was she not able to build any connections but that slut was receiving such a grand party. She wanted to strangle that bitch.
The double doors to the entrance of the hall opened. Two beautiful young girls entered holding each other's hands.
The guests and the media recognized one of the young girls as the Lan princess. She was dressed in a lacey blue dress. The skirt of the dress had white streaks painted across the blue of the skirt resembling ocean waves and every time the young girl moved it seemed as if the waves were actually moving. She wore a simple chain necklace with a pendant where an aquamarine stone sat perfectly. Her earrings and her bracelet held aquamarine stones which resembled the colour of the ocean. Her white high heels clicked loudly and she entered the hall without a care in the world. She didn't even bother to look at all the famous guests in the room.
Her eyes roamed around the room as if she was looking for someone. They landed on their prey and found her looking like a bimbo wearing a tight dress and standing beside a white lotus. She didn't show any external expression and continued to drag the shy, blushing Amy with her.
Other's eyes then turned to the timid girl beside her who was also in a lace emerald green dress embroidered in beautiful intricately woven black vines and flowers with white stones. She wore jewellery similar to Lan Xie but with rubies. The green in her dress highly contrasting with the bright red ruby. She wore black high heels.
Their hair bounced with slight curls as they walked. One was open and confident while the other was shy and cute. One looked like the ocean while the other was like the forest. They couldn't decide which one was more beautiful.
Just then all the lights in the ballroom dimmed, a spotlight was placed facing the main entrance on the two people who had arrived. Chairman Zhang was dressed in a dark maroon suit but he wasn't the one that caught everyone's attention.
A slender woman with black hair styled in a simple chignon updo style brought gasps out of their lips. Her beautiful face was highlighted by the few stray strands that escaped the knot. She was wearing an asymmetrical one off shoulder purple high low satin dress. The top of her dress was beaded while the rest of the skirt was embroidered with small white flowers randomly. The diamond earrings and the silver louboutins sparkled brightly. She held a white leather clutch in one hand while the other rested lightly in the nook of the chairman's elbow. Her thin lips slowly rose into a soft smile. She looked like an ethereal beauty in their eyes.
The entire hall was left stunned. They had decided. She was the most beautiful of them all!
