64. The Help

RuQian smiled slightly when she saw Lan Xie's smirk. She felt happy when she saw her friend getting her revenge. It was like watching her kid growing up.

From when she was reborn, she had felt this way with her friends, like she was a mother or an elder sister taking care of them.

Lan Xie's parents at first were shocked by her difference, even though they only met for a brief moment, they had loved her even before her rebirth. Her life was similar to Lan Xie's, she had always gotten everything she had asked for, except from Su Ting. But the man was not even her father, so she didn't care.

Lan Xie's parents loved her a lot and as they had always known how much of a scum Su Ting was, they gave their love to both Lan Xie and RuQian similarly. In fact they treated her even better than Lan Xie.

Sometimes they denied Lan Xie something she wanted but never her. RuQian knew it was because they loved her but she also knew they pitied her as well, so she never asked them anything.

In her previous life, they tried to help her many times, she had denied them but they had still helped her behind the scenes.

She knew the reason she was able to attend the parties when she was a businesswoman without being humiliated; even after her embarrassing behavior in the party when she made a fool of herself the time Chang Min got engaged to Lu Xu Mei; was because Mother Lan was involved.

And she knew that Father Lan had helped her from behind the scenes in her business. When a person took on the business front, they would become the face of that company.

When she had started working in the company, it wasn't a big deal as she started out as a normal employee but later on when she became the director her grandfather slowly stopped coming to the company and let her make the decisions, unless it was extremely major ones.

Even then, he only wanted her to tell him first before doing something huge. He basically handed the company to her except in name.

She did face internal rejection from the company employees, she proved to them how good she was but magically she faced no problems from the outsiders or her rivals.

Father Lan had made sure no one could go up against her managing the company.

She hadn't thought of this properly before because she was too busy dealing with the workload, the shareholders, the customers and the employees but now that she thought about it father Lan couldn't have accomplished this feat.

He was rich, yes but their businesses were completely different, he couldn't command such a strong power to be able to control all the vultures surrounding her.

The only person that could help father Lan was one person. But why did he help father Lan? Just because father Lan asked him? But that man never went out of his way to help others even if it was his own family.

So why did he help her, an outsider? RuQian was very confused with all the jumbled thoughts. It was usually always because of this man, that she couldn't logically explain many things recently.

The next few days RuQian went crazy with her hacking lessons, she finished level 285 in just two days.

After finally feeling she had learned the right amount of knowledge, she checked up the information she needed. She searched for the background and looked into his life. Her eyes widened and her lips tightened when she saw where he worked.

'Why? Why is this happening in this life?'

RuQian got up from her study table, sat down on the floor beside her bed, closed her eyes and started taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. She was hyperventilating again, this usually happened everytime she woke up from her nightmares.

She didn't want to make any mistakes in her rage. There must be a reason. After 30 minutes of meditating, she finally realized what the reason might be, she knew it was a far fetched idea but she could only come up with this explanation.

As she was getting ready to contact someone, a maid came to inform her, her grandfather wanted to speak to her.

She nodded letting the maid know she understood, cleared her prints from the hack, left to speak to her grandfather. She could leave this issue until later, for now at least.

Her grandfather was sitting in the lounge area, sipping some coffee, waiting for her. When she saw what he was drinking, RuQian's eyebrows furrowed, she called Old butler Wong and told him to bring some tea.

"Grandfather, if you drink coffee this late how will you sleep? You should drink tea to calm your mind. Old butler Wong, bring some jasmine tea for both of us."

"Right away, young miss."

"*Sigh* You need to take care of your health grandfather."

"Bah, I am very healthy Qiao Qian, why are you acting like I am an old man?"

"That's because you 𝑎𝑟𝑒 an old man!" RuQian deadpanned.

"I am very young. I can even do jumping jacks if you want. Let me show you." Grandfather Zhang stood up to show his granddaughter how healthy he was.

"No need! Why did you call me here?" RuQian diverted the topic, hoping her grandfather wouldn't really start working out and break his hip in the process.

"Ah, right. I forgot to tell you before. The contract is ready, you can come to the company to check the contract and you can sign it if you have no problem with it. I'll assign you a lawyer from the company and he can take care of the details for you."

"I have a lawyer actually, so I'll take care of that matter. When can I come to check the contract? It's better if we can finish signing it before the party."

"Huh? Xiao Qian, you have a lawyer? Who is it? Is the person good at their work? You should take the company lawyer itself, they'll be better than outsiders."

"Well, the company lawyer might think for the betterment of the company and not me. Anyways, grandfather don't you believe in my capability? I only choose the best."

"*Sigh* If you say so Xiao Qian. You can come to the company whenever you want. Why don't you come tomorrow itself? That way if you want to make changes, we'll still have time."

"Okay grandfather."

After having tea and speaking to her grandfather for a while, RuQian bid her grandfather goodnight and went to her room. She dialled a number, "I need you to come to Zhang Tech tomorrow."

"What time do you need me there?"

"Four in the evening would be enough. I'll be there after my school."

"Will you be signing the contract?"

"Not yet. I'll need to make some changes first. If they can accept and modify the changes immediately, we'll be done tomorrow itself. If not.."

He understood the unsaid.
