42. Scary

RuQian entered the foyer and heard voices coming from the living room. One was of her grandfather but the other, she did not recognize.

Her grandfather's voice sounded normal, even happy somehow.

But why did he sound so ruffled when he had called? This was too weird.

RuQian entered the living room cautiously wanting to see who her grandfather was talking to. As soon as she entered the living room, she met the person's black eyes at once.

RuQian stood shell shocked for a moment, she knew this face! She had seen this face only twice before but she knew exactly who this person was.

RuQian had seen this man twice, in two different parties in her previous life but they never had anything in common so she never went up to him, who was crowded by other guests.

She never had the chance to speak to this man in her previous life but she did not understand what he was doing here.

She realized a few things were different from her previous life but she also knew the fact that this was happening due to her making different decisions and taking a different path from the one she had taken in her previous life.

Seeing the well known man and his granddaughter staring at each other, not speaking a word, her grandfather feared RuQian might come off as rude.

"Xiao Qian, you are here! What took you so long Eh? Come, sit down. Let me introduce you to someone."

RuQian slowly moved, went and sat down beside her grandfather. She knew who this person was and she even knew who he worked for but she couldn't let that spill.

In her previous life, she had learnt all these things as she was stepping into the business world and some of the information came from her grandfather himself.

But in this life, she wouldn't be able to explain how she knew all that secret information at such a young age. To outsiders, maybe she could rack up stories but not with her grandfather, so she decided to just be quiet.

She could act anyways, her grandfather wouldn't know. But the man seated opposite her had already seen the knowing look in her eyes when she entered.

He was curious as to how this girl would know anything about him. Did she..? He stopped himself. No she definitely wouldn't remember. But then he realized his master had taken a 'liking?' to her.

Even he did not know what his master was thinking, so he had no idea but since he was sent here on a mission, he would do his best.

Not that he liked this, he was very irritated when his master gave him this mission but seeing the little girl's reaction, he was curious somehow.

He also saw the change in her when her face went back to the innocent expression, acting as if she did not know who he was. This girl could act!

"Xiao Qian, I told you, you have to learn self defense and you chose martial arts, didn't you?" Her grandfather continued not noticing the glint in RuQian's eyes.

RuQian had just seen everything transpiring in the man's eyes, the wheels in his head turning. She was very good at reading others. She could easily tell what the other person was thinking, it was a skill which she was taught at a young age. Looked like she had given herself away when she had stared at him but her grandfather seemed oblivious.

As far as her grandfather did not know, she was fine. She did not care about others. She understood what her grandfather meant when he started talking about martial arts.

Looked like she had guessed right, this man was going to teach her martial arts. It would be great to learn from him, seeing as he was the second best in the country but she knew for a fact, her grandfather could not have invited this man to teach her.

As far as she knew, there was only one man who could but that man was someone she had only met once in her previous life.

He would never do something like this. This martial arts expert was that man's best employee so he would not just send him anywhere.

RuQian did not know what to make of this situation. Had her grandfather asked that man for help? But she did not think her grandfather would do that. She just needed to learn some self defense, not go for war.

There was no need for her to learn from the second best in the country. So if her grandfather had not asked for that man's help, did he send his employee on his own? But why would he?

He should not even care about her. In her past life, she had taken up Zhang Tech so that was when she had met that man but that was it. Right now she was just a high school girl.

That man would not have done this either, so why was an employee of his here? She did not know who got this man to come here but she would definitely find out why he was here.

When RuQian was thinking about this, her eyes turned chilly, she felt this man had some ulterior motive, she had to be careful around him.

The temperature in the room dropped a few degrees and the man turned to see what was going on. He gulped loudly when he met RuQian's chilling gaze.

'What is wrong with this girl? Why is she staring at me as if she wants to kill me?'

He could not look her in the eye and diverted his gaze elsewhere and that proved to be a wrong move. The temperature fell even more.

'How was this small girl this scary?' The man cowered slightly, wanting to run out of the room. He was a trained, second best in the country, not only in martial arts but he was well trained in armory and weaponry as well.

He did not even know why he was getting this scared of a little girl's gaze, that was when he remembered and when he did remember, he was even more scared.

'This little girl resembled his master too much! So scary!'
