1 Chapter One

"Alright, class. Our test will be on Thursday, and the PowerPoint is due tomorrow," Haru's music theory professor announced, "Class dismissed."

She went to her locker and threw her books and materials into her backpack.

Haru's brain was aching with the amount of dancing, singing, and music theory she did that day in the performing arts school.

"Bye, Donghyuck," she waved to where Donghyuck, her close friend usually was, just to not find him there.

"Never mind, then," she frowned and walked away.

She thought of where she wanted to study and started walking. She shook her head at how the daylight savings caused the sky to be darker at an earlier time. She looked for the coffee shop she usually studied at, and it was closed. Haru walked further and searched for a different place to study.

Haru cautiously grasped onto a knife inside her hoodie as she walked discreetly into an empty alleyway. Goosebumps ran across her arms as she felt an uncomfortable aura from walking alone. There were mysterious disappearances happening around Neo City the last couple of months.

Haru wanted nothing more than to leave the place. She slowly turned into a corner, and immediately backed away when she saw what appeared to be a man in a black sweatshirt holding a knife to someone's neck.

She tiptoed as quietly as she could and tried to not get the attention of anyone, looking back and forth between the scene and where she was walking. Her palms were drenched with sweat, and she forced herself to think straight. Suddenly, someone pushed her into a wall. Small pain shot up her shoulder.

"Where do you think you're going, darling?" a figure with disheveled hair and enhanced facial features stared into her brown orbs.

"What the fuck," Haru thought in disgust.

She grabbed his arm and twisted it, elbowing and kicking him. Haru ran with terror and headed for a crowded area. She looked behind her for a moment, and he was quickly running after her. He had on the most twisted smile she had ever seen. Never in her life had she ever experienced this type of situation. Haru seriously needed someone to help her escape from whatever creepy guy she just encountered.

"I'm going to die, I'm going to die," she furiously said under her breath.

She ran until her feet were in pain and her heart was beating at an abnormal speed.

A random girl grabbed her hand and started talking to her like they had been close friends for a long time. Haru was a bit confused as to why that was happening, but played along, because the girl looked like she knew what she was doing.

"Haha, yeah, like, I can't even believe the audacity of her and why she even wanted to hit me, you know?" Haru and the girl blabbered.

"I really want to get a BTS album one day. Their music is so good," Haru smiled.

"I've stanned them for a while, but my parents only allow me to stream the music videos, not buy the albums," Dahyun shook her head in vain.

The man looked back and forth, pushing through crowds at a fast pace. The girls walked further into the crowd and tried to blend in. Haru fake laughed even though her heart was racing, and they kept walking until the man eventually gave up and turned away.

Haru let out a breath she held in.

"W-Who are you? Uh, thank you for your help?" Haru stuttered.

"Haha, no problem. It's just my job. I'm Dahyun." she responded with a smile.

"I'm Haru," she nodded, "How is it your job though?"

"Uhm, uh, it's kind of complicated," Dahyun shifted her sitting position.

"Are you in a mafia? I swear-" Haru took a deep breath.

"What, how did you-" Dahyun's eyes widened as she cleared her throat.

"Well, we're all about protecting other girls from creepy men, and we have cameras all over Neo City," Dahyun said, "we're not really suspected to be members of a mafia, because all of the members are girls."

"Wow, that's pretty cool," Haru grinned.

They walked into a café and ordered hot chocolate and sat in a booth.

"You should join us, you know. All of us get along pretty well, and we're low-key non-toxic friends," Dahyun added.

"Let me get my work done, and I'll probably think about it," Haru grimaced as she looked at the pile of work she had to do.

Dahyun nodded, as she had to finish up some schoolwork herself.

Afterwards, Dahyun drove her to her house, and Haru's mother thanked her for her kindness.

"Meet me at the same café tomorrow if you want to join," Dahyun told Haru.

Haru then took a warm shower and got ready for bed. This so unlike any other day she ever had. It would never be this eventful. She took out her contacts and lied down. She breathed in and out, thinking about the words Dahyun, the girl who she just met and saved her, said.
