Blind Leading The Blind

Looking at the status in front of him Jason began to consider his options. He has read enough of the fantasy genre to know what has happened to him. Jason should have met with a higher being of some kind or a summoner, depending on the cliché situation. His status tells him that he was summoned; however, as he looks again at his much shorter body, he doubts both. Obviously, he did not happen to meet any higher beings on his one-way trip to toddlerdom. Also, his limited knowledge of fantasy fiction didn't cover summoning an older person and said person coming out younger. Summoners in stories generally want war potential, and Jason doubted they were looking for toddlers to bolster their armies. Then again, who was he to question the wisdom of someone who yanked people straight through reality?

Deciding that it isn't something he is immediately able to solve at the moment Jason moves on to assess his surroundings. Final assessment, 100% fantasy, he thinks. If the golden symbols inlaid across everything in view wasn't a huge red flag, then the fact that those symbols carved into stone were fucking glowing definitely was.

"Haa, I could really use that god or summoner now. This being summoned gig doesn't really come with a manual. Well I still have one thing at least, STATUS." Jason said while sitting down on the altar he was summoned on top of.

"Still human, I see; shame I have no cheat immortal race or anything. It would have been cool to be part Dragon or something. The Class looks interesting though, I wonder what an Experience Hunter is." Jason mumbled to himself. Before he had time to ponder, another window opened up in front of him.

"Well, that is something, I guess? Though, it's not too specific. Well, at least I know I won't have to search out something called experience and kill it. Be pretty ironic to level up that way...and I am already talking to myself, fucking brilliant." Jason said, shaking his head as he decided to better look at the room that he seems to be stuck in at the moment.

As he noticed before, the walls and floors were covered in gold engravings that were incredibly similar to what he imagined stereotypical fantasy runes would look like. Something that he figured was outside of his expertise which led to him simply observing them for now. Besides the runes, the layout reminded him of those structures in Greece that he had seen pictures of with clean marble walls and dome-shaped ceilings. The thought of Greece brought him back into the moment as he realized that was probably worlds away now.

"Fuck… I died, didn't I?" Jason whispered under his breath reliving the moment of his death.

"As far as your previous world, yes, you are as good as dead. However in reality, the answer is no. It was fairly close, I would have to say. Made this ritual a hell of a lot more interesting than I planned on." a voice off to his side said.

Jumping slightly from the sudden extra person in the room Jason quickly turned to the voice's source. A rather tall well-built man could be seen standing in an archway that he guessed would be the entrance to the room he was in. The man looked to be in his mid-thirties or early forties with a clean-shaven face and long loose blonde hair that came to his shoulders. His outfit would have probably won him an award at a comic con. It looked to be the perfect adventurer attire, all set with cloth clothing, leather armor padding, and a sword at his hip. However, Jason wasn't paying particular attention to the sword, which is as telling as anything. What drew his attention was his eyes. More specifically the lack of eyes; he was only too thankful that it wasn't horribly gruesome looking. Instead, he seemed like his face simply had divots in the skin where eyes would usually be.

"Done checking me out kid? I know I am good-looking, but for your information, I am as straight as they come, and even if you were female, you would need about a decade or two to draw my attention." The adventurer said, smirking slightly as he did so. It was enough to pull Jason out of the daze he had been in from looking at his surprise visitor.

"Who are you? Where am I? What am I doing here? What did you mean by `I almost died'?" Jason questioned rapidly, not taking any time to breathe though staying where he was regardless of his desire to run up and shake the answers out of the man. Something told him that would not end well, especially for him.

"Alright, so I can see that you are confused, something I kind of suspected, so I'll say I will answer your questions, just not right now. Not the right place to explain it all; it would take too long and really requires comfortable seating. Now, if you want to know those answers you should follow me." The adventurer said, turning around and walking back through the archway that the mysterious stranger had appeared from initially. Jason watched the man walk away, not moving.

'Right, like I am going to follow the strange man with a sword and no eyes from the room that looks so holy it's glowing. Yeah, I'm not that stupid.' Jason thought.

The man got approximately 10 feet away from where he started when he stopped, hanging his head to let a sigh slip out. "Look, kid, you can either sit there and continue being confused or you can decide to follow me, the guy with all the answers. Whichever choice you make, I'm going to continue walking this way. Oh, and the room isn't glowing because it is holy; think of it more as the center of a magical nuclear reactor." He said, chuckling slightly and turning around once more.

Jason was startled at the man's words. 'Can he read my mind?' he thought before looking back towards the man who was further down the hall past the archway, half expecting him to say yes. Hearing no confirmation and deciding that sitting on what may be the fantasy equivalent to a nuke was a horrible idea Jason got down from the altar to quickly catch up with the man.

"Alright, I will follow you, but if you start offering candy, then I am out of here, and stop calling me kid. It's Jason." Jason said as he slowed down a few steps behind the man with the sword.

"What?"

"Jason, my name is Jason Dewwert. It isn't 'kid.'"

"Jason, huh? Well, Jason, I'm going to keep calling you kid because it's shorter, and you can keep thinking I'm 'The Man' . It's doing good things for my ego." the man said while laughing, a large smile appearing on his face as he began walking forward once more with noticeably more energy in his step.

'Brilliant, I have an asshole as a guide that may or may not be able to read minds and happens to like being referred to as "The Man." Yeah, I'm going to die...again.' Jason thought morosely as he trudged along behind his all too happy companion.
