Chapter 39

Chapter 39: Hello Percy

The way he walked was sluggish, as if every step he took was a nuisance and a chore. There was no enthusiasm on it, like one would when revenge is right in front of him.

On his way he saw the rubble of many shrine of Gods, fallen to the ground. There was a dome made of gold in honor of Artemis, there was a statue of Zeus majestically crafted but was on the ground nonetheless as rubbles and most of all he saw a statue of Hera pinning down a young woman.

When he saw her figure several painful memories flooded inside his mind and made him wince a bit but after a millisecond it disappeared. He shrugged the feeling of pain off and walked closer to the rubble to take a closer look at the young women pinned down by the wrathful statue of Hera.

Short spiky hair, fair white skin and stormy blue eyes just like his. She closely resembles him, especially the electric blue eyes.

When the young girl saw Marcus who was looking at him she said.

"Hey! What are you doing here!?" She shouted. If this kid, who she assumed is also a demi-god is here without much on hand then he should be helping Percy or helping her get out of this rubble but here he was leisurely walking around, looking at her pinned down.

"Can you hear what I'm saying!? Help me get out of here!" She screamed again. But instead of hearing a response she only got an intense stare in response.

"What's your name?" He asked in a cold tone.

"What!? Why are you asking that? You should help me first or if not you should help Percy fight Kronos." She retorted angrily. Olympus is on the verge of being dissolved at any moment and this guy right here was taking his time as if there was nothing apocalyptic happening around.

'Is he deaf or something!?'

"Rude. I'm asking for your name first before I give you any help." He said this time his tone was colder than the last, as if slabs of ice were piercing down her spine.

"Ugh. Fine." She groaned.

"I'm Thalia Grace, Daughter of—" Before she could even finish her sentence she was cut off by Marcus.

"Zeus." He said.

"Well, look at where your situation has gotten from, sister." The young man said with a slight smirk present on his depressed face. It was more of a sarcastic remark than a happy one.

"S-sister? W-who are you?" Confused Thalia asked with a wavering tone.

"Oh, how rude of me. I'm Marcus Phase, the traitor of the camp, the one who stole the lightning bolt—"

"Apparently," He whispered and continued.

"The accursed one, and Zeus's Bastard." He finished with a leisure tone.

Thalia was left in disbelief at what she heard. Percy, Annabeth, Grover and the other campers have mentioned him at least one time. The bastard of Zeus who betrayed the camp, or so everyone thought until it was revealed that it was truly Luke who stole the bolt.

"But you were dead?"

But everyone thought he was dead since he was heavily injured by the gods and there was no one who could survive from their onslaught.

"Everyone thought you were!"

Hearing that word Marcus can't help but chuckle.

"I wish I were. Being dead is better than lifting this responsibility." In a dry and flat tone he commented.

"What responsibility?" She asked, confused.

"None of your business, you would go insane if you were to know it." Marcus chuckled before slowly kneeling down.

The bastard of Zeus held out his hand and touched the statue pinning her sister down gently with his finger tip.

A slight buzz resounded after the contact was made and immediately after the statue made of fine marble disintigrated into fine dust. The dust of white marble resembled the snow one would see in winter, it was white and looked fluffy.

With nothing heavy pinning her down anymore Thalia managed to get up effortlessly from the ground and dusted herself off.

"Consider this as my brotherly love." Marcus said before walking away casually.

Thalia tried to chase after him but her legs were too injured to run. Seeing his fading figure slowly walking away she sighed and slumped to the ground.

"Sigh~"

"What a hectic day."

Slowly, he arrived at his destination. What greeted him at the Council of Olympus was a metallic clang of weapons clashing one against another. As if conducting a musical symphony.

Percy's POV

"Luke would fight with a sword," I said. "But I suppose you don't have his skill."

Kronos sneered. His scythe began to change, until he held Luke's old weapon, Backbiter, with its half-steel, half-Celestial bronze blade.

Next to me, Annabeth gasped like she'd suddenly had an idea. "Percy, the blade!" She unsheathed her knife. "The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap."

I didn't understand why she was reminding me of that prophecy line right now. It wasn't exactly a morale booster, but before I could say anything, Kronos raised his sword.

"Wait!" Annabeth yelled.

Kronos came at me like a whirlwind.

My instincts took over. I dodged and slashed and rolled, but I felt like I was fighting a hundred swordsmen.

Ethan who was at Kronos' side , ducked to one side, trying to get behind me until Annabeth intercepted him. They started to fight, but I couldn't focus on how she was doing. I was vaguely aware of Grover playing his reed pipes. The sound filled me with warmth and courage—thoughts of sunlight and a blue sky and a calm meadow, somewhere far away from the war.

Kronos backed me up against the throne of Hephaestus—a huge mechanical La-Z-Boy type thing covered with bronze and silver gears. Kronos slashed, and I managed to jump straight up onto the seat. The throne whirred and hummed with secret mechanisms. Defense mode, it warned. Defense mode.

That couldn't be good. I jumped straight over Kronos's head as the throne shot tendrils of electricity in all directions. One hit Kronos in the face, arcing down his body and up his sword.

"ARG!" He crumpled to his knees and dropped Backbiter.

Annabeth saw her chance. She kicked Ethan out of the way and charged.
