4 chapter 4

Percy awoke back in yharnam. He was sprawled out like how he slept in real life.

"So it wasn't a dream," Percy inferred As he looked around.

[+1 intelligence.

Note: no shit Sherlock]

Even the system was roasting Percy's intelligence.

But Percy was back in yharnam, a town that was full of beasts. The beast was like cancer, and the hunters were the cure, with Percy having the edge in that department.

Percy sighed before entering the dream once more. He decided to listen to Eileen and meet the man known as gehrman.

"Hello doll," Percy said as he passed and made his way up the stairs.

"Hello good hunter," the doll said, and Percy entered the house.

There was a... A large amount of books. And to Percy's surprise, he could actually read the titles.

"Oh? A new hunter has joined us now. A brat at that," Percy looked for the sound of the voice to see the man Eileen was speaking of.

He looked ancient... But also homeless. He wore old clothes, and his hands were full of wrinkles, but so was his face.

His hair was almost as white as snow, but Percy felt a shiver in his spin. Something about this man didn't sit right with Percy.

[+2 intelligence.

Note: finally using your brain? Use it more often]

The system all but confirmed it. Now normally, Percy would have used observation, but based on Eileen's reaction, he decided otherwise.

"Feel free to use the workshop as your own... For however long you last," the wheelchair man said before staring at the moon.

So Percy did. He knew that time was distorted. The reason was obvious enough though, since Eileen confirmed it herself.

Inside the workshop was an area where Percy was able to upgrade his weapon, and that... Was very helpful.

But the books are what caught Percy's attention though.

Percy picked up one of the books and he was confused. "How to Pick up Fair Maidens" didn't seem to be a survival book... But that didn't mean he wouldn't read it.

Percy sat down and began reading, it seemed after gaining insight, his dyslexia was cured surprisingly.

The more Percy read, the more curious he became. And with a whole library at his disposal, what else was he supposed to do?

That was all Percy could read before he got a headache. Percy put the books back where he found them and was about to leave when he heard Gehrman's voice again.

"A bit of advice before you leave for your hunt," he said looking away from the moon.

Percy blinked not expecting him to actually speak again, since no matter what Percy asked, he didn't respond much... Almost as if he was trying to distance himself.

"What's the advice?" Percy asked. He sensed that this would be important.

"Hunters aren't your enemy. It's scholars. If you ever get caught by one... Kill yourself," Gehrman's eyes bore into Percy's.

"Huh... But why?" Percy was confused. This was the first time he ever heard about scholars.

"Somethings are better for you to never know, and I pray you never do. Seeing that you have her badge, it's safe to assume you joined the hunter of hunters, trust Eileen, she knows the hunt better than anyone you'll meet," gehrman said.

Percy nodded his head, taking the old man's words into account. Somehow Percy knew he would use this information.

"Are you leaving good hunter?" The doll's soothing voice called for Percy, who was thinking of Gehrmans advice.

"...yes... I have to meet Eileen soon. She doesn't like me being late to her teachings," Percy said before looking up at the doll with a smile.

"I promise to bring a gift back from the waking world. It was a pleasure to meet you once again miss," Percy bowed once before disappearing only to appear once again in central yharnam.

Meanwhile, Gehrman's eyes drifted to where Percy was last seen. He closed his eyes before looking at the moon.

Gehrman let out a long breath, he knew... Oh, how he knew.

"Tonight's hunt will last longer than most it would appear..." he said finally before staring at the moon...

He had no... Negative feelings for Percy. The boy was just naive in his own way. A boy curious about something new.

And he had those eyes, the eyes of a hunter, and the little ones liked him, then that's all Gehrman needed to know about his personality.

...

"You're with me, but still, stick close. This place is as unpredictable as yharnam is," Eileen told Percy as he followed Eileen.

"Understood," Percy said.

They entered a place, and inside was a bar. Percy of course looked around, seeing a couple of hunters.

When Eileen moved to the counter, so did he. Eileen looked at the man two stools down.

"Gascoigne. It seems your still... Relatively sane for someone your age," Eileen said.

"Ah... The crow herself" the man chuckled, but more of a... Strained one.

The man's eyes drifted to Percy, and Percy could tell he was on the verge of losing it.

"Taking in an apprentice huh... How unlike you," he said, taking another sip of his beer.

Beer mixed with blood it would appear. The people of yharnam were crazy.

"It's unlike you to drink. Something special going on?" Eileen said. Percy's eyes caught Eileen moving a bit, ready to fight at a moment's notice.

Of course, Percy would too. He would kill almost anyone to protect his mentor.

"...my final hunt. After that, I'll quit being a hunter," he said.

'observe'

[Gascoigne

Stats:??? (Didn't want to research. Teehee)

Sanity:5]

He was weaker than Percy, so he didn't notice it, but Eileen did. Her eyes showed curiosity, but let it slide.

"I see, and your family? Have they been well," Eileen said.

Gascoigne stayed silent, he swirled his drink before looking at Eileen, and then to Percy.

"... promise me, that if I fall to beast hood, you'll be the one to take me out. And make sure my wife doesn't come for me," he asked.

"Of course. It's my duty," Eileen said tilting her head.

"Good..."

[Skill {information gathering} has been learned]

Eileen and Percy soon left the bar, and Eileen looked over to Percy.

"Do you know the reason why I brought you to this place?" Eileen asked.

"Information gathering right?" Percy looked to his mentor for confirmation.

"Correct. Bars... And pardon my language, whores are where you can find the information you're looking for. Men and women, get loose-lipped when they have their guard down," Eileen said.

"I see," Percy said. It made sense to Percy, and he would keep that in mind.

"Now tell me something, Percy... Are you resistant to poison?" Eileen had a wicked smile as she pulled out poison knives.
