74 Chapter 74

[Third Person's PoV]

Dark, thunderous clouds appeared in the skies above as Thalia gained an angry expression. Lightning crackled from her eyes as she angrily strutted towards Lucian.

She grabbed his collar and with an angered voice asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Because of your greed and selfishness, you put all of our lives in danger and used us like pawns in your little game!"

Annabeth let out a sigh. "To deceive your enemies, you must first deceive your friends, right?"

While still holding onto his collar, Thalia turned towards Annabeth and pointed her finger at her angrily. "Don't even try it!"

"What? What did I do?" Annabeth asked, slightly raising her hands in a questioning manner.

"You were going to try and justify his actions. For you, Lucian can never do no wrong, so I really don't even want to hear it."

Thalia then looked back towards Lucian and continued to berate him. "You call us your friends and everything, but what you just did isn't very friend-like. Friends don't put their friends in dangerous situations where they could have gotten seriously injured or killed."

Lucian put a hand on Thalia's wrist that was holding his collar and looked at her coldly. "You're already starting to piss me off. You keep mentioning putting you guys' lives in danger, danger this, danger that, but look at yourselves.

Look at Luke, look at Annabeth, and look at yourself. During this entire journey from where we left the camp to this exact moment in time, none of you have gotten even a single scratch on you.

You keep mentioning that you guys' lives were in danger, but I beg to differ. You guys were never in danger, and you never have been.

You know what else friends do? They believe in each other. I had faith that you guys were capable of handling yourselves well. The only person that had the potential to be killed was me."

Luke then intervened and put himself in the middle, separating the two of them. "Alright, that's enough you two. Although we may not like what Lucian did, what's done is done, and we can't do anything else about the matter."

Thalia grumbled as she released Lucian with a scoff. Luke then looked at Lucian. "You mentioned having an ultimate goal, that was the reason for all of this… so tell us, what is that goal? What is so important that you needed to go to such lengths to get these apples?"

Lucian bit his lip and looked to the side. "Sorry, I can't say…"

Thalia, listening to that, scoffed in amusement. "Of course you can't. Why am I not surprised? So much for believing in us, right?"

Lucian closed his eyes and let out a sigh before looking at all of them with a serious expression. "It's not because I don't believe in you. It's for a completely different reason. If it wasn't for that reason, I wouldn't have minded answering that question."

"What's that reason? What's the reason you can't tell us your ultimate goal?" Annabeth asked with a serious expression.

"Because I don't know who might be listening to our conversation right now," Lucian said with a solemn look in his eyes as he pushed his hair back from his face.

All three had developed a look of shock, and as they came to a single conclusion,

'His dream has a possibility of angering the Gods… that's why he won't say anything… he's basically going to perform heresy.'

Annabeth pushed Thalia and Luke out of the way and stood face to face with Lucian. "Answer me this, if your goal or dream or whatever makes the one who hears it angry to the point it puts you in danger that you're afraid to say it out loud, what are the chances of you completing your goal without being killed in the process?"

Lucian didn't reply and lowered his head while looking to the side. Annabeth now was the one to grab Lucian by his collar and looked at him without blinking, in a low but serious voice said,

"You better talk. I don't want to hear any nonsense that you aren't able to because of X, Y, and Z."

'What the fuck' Lucian, Thalia, and Luke thought at the same time, becoming scared of Annabeth.

Lucian let out a sigh. "The only person that knows what my goals and dreams are is my mother—"

"That's not what I asked of you," Annabeth interrupted while still not blinking.

'She's so freaking scary… I'd rather fight another God,' Lucian thought while putting on an awkward smile.

"I was getting there. Since I told my mother what my goals and dreams are, she and I butted heads and came up with a percentage of how likely I would fail… and the answer to that is 99%, the chances of my survival are simple: 1% maybe even less."

"WHAAAAAAAAAT!" They all shouted in complete and utter surprise.

Currently in the Underworld…

"Achoo!"

"Is the pollen in the garden making you sneeze?" Persephone asked Medea as they sat at a table in the middle of a garden Hades had created for her long ago while drinking her tea.

Medea just slightly rubbed her nose. "No, it was most likely Lucian talking about me."

Persephone smiled upon hearing that. "That boy, what do you think he's doing right now? I haven't heard from him in a few days, I'm starting to miss his little offerings he would personally send me every day."

Medea scoffed at her question. "I wouldn't put it past him to be doing something dangerous at the moment."

"If that's the case, shouldn't you be worried? His life could be in danger at the moment," Persephone asked with a worried expression.

Medea just laughed. "Ha! Let me tell you something I've learned thanks to my many years of living: ambitious men cling to life the hardest, and Lucian is the most ambitious boy I know. If he is in danger, I just know he's doing everything he can to survive, and I'm sure he will come out on top, that's it."

Persephone softly smiled. "Having such confidence in your son, I'm starting to get jealous. I just can't help but wonder what that's like," she said with a hand on her stomach.

Medea's expression turned awkward. "I really wouldn't exactly call it confidence in him… more like I have confidence in the craziness I possess, a craziness he unfortunately inherited from me…"

Medea then started to reminisce about the time she learned of such craziness…

(Flashback: 4 years ago…)

Lucian, who was six years old, was sitting on his mother's lap in the middle of the night as they stargazed together and she played with his hair.

She smiled with a content smile as she gently ran her fingers through his hair. "Tell me, Lucian, even though you are just 6 years old, I'm curious, do you have any ambitions? You are working and practicing so diligently and hard, I just can't imagine you doing it for no reason."

"I do," Lucian said, nodding his head excitedly.

"Oh yeah? Tell me what they are," she asked with a teasing smirk.

"I want to become the first mortal to become a God."

"What? But honey, I don't think you would be the first mortal to achieve Godhood. There are multiple cases of this happening. Did you forget all the stories I have told you before?"

Lucian let out a sigh as he got up from his mother's lap. "Mother, I don't think you get what I'm saying," he said, shaking his head.

Medea froze as she looked at Lucian's eyes, which grew bright red in the middle of the night with the full moon reflecting right behind him.

'Those eyes… they're filled with complete madness,' Medea thought in surprise.

Lucian stretched out his arms widely while a crazed smile overcame his face, showing his two white canines.

"What I want is to become a God by myself, without the help of any other God. Hercules and the others were promoted to Godhood, but that's not what I want, no, far from it.

I want to become a God of my own creation. I wouldn't be tied to any pantheon, hell, I could even create my very own pantheon! I'll crawl myself into godhood if I have to.

I'll use every dirty trick in the book to do it. I'll kill the gods and use their very own blood to turn my own into ichor as well. I'll steal the whole orchard of golden apples to make myself immortal!

I'll create rituals where I combine every single thing that has the word divine and immortality in their name and description to all come together into me to turn me into a True divine being of creation and power!!!"

Medea let out a sigh as she rubbed her head. 'Just what kind of monster have I given birth to and unleashed into this world.'

A/N: I'm curious to see if anyone can guess where I'm going with this, by the way none of this was ever fucking planned, Lucian shouting out their names was just me creating a funny haha scene I didn't fucking mean to turn it into all this lmao 😆 😅

So seeing people praise for it and saying oh it's all making sense why did this and that, those were just my mistakes 🤣🙈
