Chapter 37

Percy awoke in a white bed with his entire head bandaged. He groaned as his entire body erupted in pain. Head throbbing and legs aching he sat up on the white bed. His vision swam and his head fell back. His head banged against the bed frame causing his head to explode in pain. "Ugh." He grunted and fell back into his pillow.

After resting his head for a minute he slowly opened his eyes to view where he was laying. "I'm still alive." He whispered, throat still sore from screaming in pain. Most of the room he was in was completely white with red lining. Bright lights lit up the room removing every shadow from every corner.

He scanned the room and realized the room he was in was a Pokémon center hospital room. The bed he was laying in was also a hospital bed. His arms were covered in tubes and his complete upper chest was strapped up with bandages. All of the places where he was struck was also bandaged tightly. Most of his wounds itched terribly and he fought the urge to scratch himself.

A machine beeped next to him indicating his heart rate change. A curtain next to him flew open. Percy turned to see Kai staring at him from another hospital bed. Their beds were parallel to each other. His head was bandaged but other wise he seemed to be okay. "You're finally awake. It's been long enough." Kai smirked. "How long have I been out?" Percy asked. Kai leaned back in his own bed his Pokédex in hand.

Unlike Percy he had no IV or heart monitor strapped to him. "You've been unconscious for a day. The nurses said you'd be out for a couple more days due to the amount of blood you lost. They've done a couple of blood transfusions and they had to operate on you. Something about several arteries being cut and being unable to heal it with just Pokémon." Kai explained nonchalantly. Percy turned his eyes away from Kai and stared straight ahead.

His mind processed the information and he put his hand over his heart. His eyes closed and he thanked some higher being for his survival. Kai noticed his odd behavior. "What are you doing?" "What happened." Percy questioned. "I got knocked out after we jumped out of the cliff and woke up here. The gym hasn't responded to any of our requests to know what happened.

Actually as we speak most of the Prodigies should be at the gym requesting a audience with the Gym Leader." Percy looked around the room. "Most?" Kai nodded. "Yeah Grace and Luna are on the other side of you." Percy reached toward a curtain on the other side of him and opened it.

Grace lay with her head in between her arms asleep. She sat on a chair and had her head resting on top of Lunas bed. Dried snot and tears covered her face and it looked like she had a rough night. Luna was unconscious and lay on her back flat. Her leg was in a large cast and was slightly elevated.

Bandages wrapped her head but other wise she seemed fine. Lunas makeup seemed a little messed up from blood but Percy couldn't stop looking at her face. "Grace stayed with Luna all night last night. You didn't come out of the operating room until 3 in the morning so she was well asleep.

Everyone except Baxter came to see you right after you got out." Kai added. He turned away and his face became sorrow. Only Aurora and Zoe came to 'visit' him. Even he knew that they were supposed to try and marry him. A nurse opened the door to do her hourly check ups when she noticed Percy was conscious.

She hurriedly left the room and shouted to her colleagues. Percy wasn't supposed to wake for a couple more days so it's an extremely concerning matter that he awoke already. The other nurses quieted her until they realized what she was saying. They all knew of the operation where the head nurse led the surgery, so it didn't make sense for Percy to wake. "Go get the head nurse." One whispered.

She sped walked to the head nurses office and knocked nervously on the door. "Come in." She slowly opened the door and nervously shuffled with her head down. "What is it for you to bother me." Gin asked. "H-he woke up." The nurse stuttered. "Who. Speak I don't have time to waste." Gin tapped her foot impatiently. "The boy you operated on last night. He woke up already."

A short bark of laughter rang through the office. "Ha! He couldn't have awaken already. Did you see his wounds? Do not joke with me nurse. I assigned you to that room because you're capable, not so you can play games with me." "I am not joking ma'am. I saw him with my two eyes." Gins eyes widened as she realized she was telling the truth.

She quickly stood from her desk and sped out of the door with the poor nurse in tow. She burst through the door to see Percy and Kai arguing. "Do you want me to come over there and beat your dumbass up. Don't think I won't." Kai threatened. Percy responded by picking up one of his pillows and chucking it across the room to hit Kai in the head. Kai was hit in his face and his ears turned red.

He raised his palm toward Percy but was interrupted by the head nurse. "What the hell are you doing!" The head nurse yelled. She rushed over to Percys side and checked all of his vitals. Kai only shot angry glances at Percy but remained silent. Percy watched as the pink haired woman tested all his vitals and shone a flashlight into his eyes. Percy didn't really like her because of the way she treated Aurora. But he couldn't argue against someone who held all the power.

After checking his vitals she took a step back before analyzing the boys face. "Do you feel well?" "No." "No?" "I feel like crap." Percy said blankly. His eyes going to the nurse hiding behind Gin. "Then what the hell are you doing fighting. By all accounts you should be unconscious not being an idiot. You go back to sleep right now and you," She pointed to Kai. "Don't bother him." Kai snorted. Percy smirked at Kai which caused Kai to become angry. Suddenly Percy became very sleepy and fell asleep on the spot.

A large Hypno stood next to his bed and swung his pendulum. Waves radiated from him causing both boys to fall asleep. Gin recalled the Pokémon and turned to the nurse. "Call his friends, let them know he's awake. I'm going to figure out how he woke up so fast." The nurse nodded and left the room. Gin turned back to the unconscious boy. "What an interesting specimen." Percy awoke not even 20 minutes later surprising Gin who had been running tests on him. "Huh what's going on." He groggily said.

His head turned from side to side to see Gin staring at him in amazement. "I see, I see." "What are you doing to me. Please don't take my Pokémon, I love them." Percys head slumped back again. He took a couple more seconds to use his brain. He sat up and looked at Nurse Gin. "Incredible." She exclaimed. "What's so incredible." "I've learned how you keep on waking up when you shouldn't."

A Gardevoir stood next to the nurse and looked down at Percy. "Are you reading my mind?" He asked. "No. I wouldn't waste my time like that." She replied seriously before becoming excited again. "The reason you wake is completely new to me." "Why." Percy asked simply, hoping to get her out of the room as fast as possible. Unfortunately that was not the right way to do it. "Well whenever you feel an intense emotion to help people when unconscious, your body wakes itself up as soon as possible.

While most people would wake up when they have a decent amount of energy you didn't. My Gardevoir found in your memories that you wanted to make sure your friend was safe before you passed out yesterday. She replicated that feeling into your mind and you woke up not even a second later." Gin exclaimed. Percy rubbed his temples in confusion. He knew that it's possible for Gardevoir to look into memories but he didn't know that it could replicate feelings in him. "Are you messing with my brain." He murmured.

His head was killing him and the rest of his body still throbbed in pain. Gin tapped a pencil on her clipboard and tapped her foot. "I thought you would've trusted me after I operated on you." Percy looked up. "You operated on me?" "Yeah. Aurora asked me to step in and do the surgery. The rest of the doctors here only had a 50% survival rate. But if I did it there was a 95% chance you would've survived.

I was just about to get off too. Instead I get thrown into a 12 hour surgery for a kid who doesn't even appreciate it. And your friend here." She gestured to Luna. "Had to get her leg reconstructed. And I'm the only person here who could reconstruct a crushed leg in a half timely manner. Crushed by a boulder, how did that even happen. Whatever, Aurora owes me now so it was worth it." Percys face dropped. "She owes you?"

Gin nodded while noting something on her clipboard. "Can I owe you something instead." Percy requested. Gin laughed. "You don't want to owe me boy." "I'll do it if you can leave Aurora alone. I'll do anything." Gin sighed. "Alright then. For the good of both you and Aurora, you'll do something for me. You have to avoid Aurora for the rest of your life." "What? Why?" Percy asked.

Gin showed a pitiful look. "You're getting in the way of Aurora and the Arcanine boys relationship. I was forced to send back her status to her mom. And I can't fight back. I told her that it seems Aurora had developed a crush on you and she isn't slightly interested in the Arcanine boy.

The Clan Head of the Joy Clan is merciless and couldn't care less about you. What I'm saying is that it's very possible she tries to get someone to kill you so you don't sway Aurora on what her mom wants her to do. I wish I could help you out in some way but all I can do is give you this advice." Percy took his time absorbing the information when suddenly the door to the hospital room slammed open.

Aurora and the rest of the Prodigies (except Baxter) stood panting at the door. "Did you guys just run through my Pokémon Center!" Gin yelled incredulously. "Percy!" Aurora leaped onto Percys bed causing his body to convulse in pain. The wound in his leg reopened and his cracked rib pulsed in pain from his movement. "Auguhg." He grunted and his eyes rolled back into his head. "Get off of him!" Jasper quickly pushed Aurora off of Percys hospital bed.

Gin called out her Blissey and she healed Percys opened wound. "Take it easy. He's supposed to be unconscious right now and his body isn't able to handle it." "Why did he wake up so soon? You told us that he wouldn't be able to wake up for another two days." Ash asked. He was extremely concerned about Percys state. "Just a medical phenomenon. No big deal. Anyway here's the medical bill and I'll be on my way. Aurora stop in my office before you leave." She handed Ash a envelope and quickly left the room.

Percy looked around him and saw many faces staring at him. "So what's up?"
