Chapter 9

Max fired a Fire Blast at the Fearow once more causing it to swerve away in fear. Percy ran to Crash who was bleeding a lot but still wouldn't give up his chase. "Use Rest buddy we can handle this without you." Percy said. Crash stomped his feet in anger and complained loudly. "Just do it!" Percy ordered. Crash looked down dejectedly mumbled something and used Rest to heal himself. The injuries on Crash quickly healed and Crash fell sleep. Percy picked Crash up in his arms and walked away from the battle. Meanwhile Jason and Max were battling the Fearow who was fighting Crash. They were handling it well and the Fearow was almost knocked out at this point. It was already weakened from Crash and had been bleeding badly for awhile now. Whenever the Fearow dove in for a Peck, Max would fire a strong Fire Blast into its face. After about 30 seconds of intense fighting, the Fearow fell from the sky smoking and charred. After seeing they defeated their opponent Jason and Max ran over to the Pidgeotto who was still fighting wildly against the last Fearow and Spearow. The Spearow was severely injured and the Fearow was mildly injured. The Pidgeotto however Jason thought could only have less than 25% health. Jason telepathically told Max to sneack attack the Spearow. Jason and Max crept up behind the battling Pokémon where Max reused Sunny Day as it had already ran out. After using Sunny Day again Max prepared a Fire Blast and shot it toward the Spearow. The Spearow wasn't expecting a sneak attack and took the full attack causing it to be sent into the ground unconscious. The Fearow became distracted after seeing the Spearow get knocked out. It looked over in Max's direction and cawed in anger. Normal Pokémon would flee in this situation but Fearow and Spearow were stupid and had too much pride. Before the Fearow could attack Max, the Pidgeotto slammed into it while using Brave Bird. The Fearow stumbled back in the air before stabilizing itself. It cawed a few times and tried to use Peck on Pidgeotto. Before it could get close Max shot a Fire Blast at it. The Fearow dodged the fire but couldn't dodge Pidgeotto. It got hit hard and was sent into the ground where it lay unconscious. The Pidgeotto screeched triumphantly and dove toward the unconscious Fearow where it decapitated it. It then flew toward all the unconscious Pokémon and decapitated them. Jason shrugged as all the Pokémon only had white potential. He then started to heal Pidgeotto with a potion. He didn't have to heal Max as he hadn't taken any damage. Percy and Charlotte approached them to see if everything was alright. By this time Crash had woken up and fully healed. They walked up to Jason and Jason asked, "Is it okay if I have the Pidgeotto Percy?" He asked. Percy would have liked to get the Pidgeotto but since Jason specifically wanted, it he was prepared to give it up. Although an Orange potential Pokémon can be sold for 100,000 pokedollars. Percy bet if he specifically looked for a good Pidgey, he could find one that is just as good or better in a week. He also didn't feel a connection like Jason felt. "I get the next good Pokémon though." Percy bartered. "Sure, that sounds good. We should get going if we want to get to the city on time. I'll get all the corpses for us to cook later. And I'll get your Pokémon parts." Percy was collecting all the claws, teeth, and beaks, of the Pokémon they kill because of a theory he read of in a book. He read in a book at his house about how certain parts of a Pokémon hold a lot of energy. It stated that if a large amount of Pokémon parts were put in a hole for about a week, the parts would disintegrate and leave behind pure energy. There would be a orb of the typing of the Pokémon that other Pokémon could eat to become stronger with that type. Although the process seemed simple it required a lot of parts. He would probably have to kill 100 Pokémon of the same type to get one orb. The disintegrating process also attracted every Pokémon within a 100 km radius. So a person would have to fight off waves of Pokémon for about a week. After storing all the Pokémon corpses. Jason officially caught Pidgeotto. They then started traveling again toward their destination. The rest of the day was uneventful where they only encountered a aggressive Raticate. They swiftly defeated it and moved on. They set up camp for the night and cooked the Spearow that they had fought previously. Jason cooked it rotisserie style. He got a wet stick and stuck it through the bodies of the Pokémon. Then he slowly and gently turned the stick causing the bird to cook in its own juices. The fats dripped off the bird onto the burning coals causing an incredible aroma to waft throughout the camp. It attracted a few Pokémon but they were promptly scared away by Crash. Pokémon in the area weren't very strong as they were not that far from the path. Both the Pallet City gym and the Honey City gym make sure this location is safe as it is a big beginning spot for most Pokémon trainers. Almost all Pokémon trainers who get their starter from the government start in Pallet City. The government once every year has 16 year olds take a test in which they showcase their knowledge on Pokémon and their aptitude as trainers. After passing all the tests the kids will be able to pick their Pokémon from 3 balls. The quality of the Pokémon is reliant on the family background. People who come from average families will get white potential Pokémon. Pokémon like Rattata and Sentret would go to these kinds of families. While children of senators or wealthy people will get Pokémon with orange or yellow potential. The Pokémon would be a Vulpix or a Ponyta. People could also just buy a Pokémon for their children and have them register as a trainer. Families on the poor side would much rather use the government than their own money. Pokémon would have to be sold on the black market for someone to get it in a place other than the government. The government turns a blind eye to the black market as it brings in good economy for them. The black market was dangerous for anyone going and have large prices for people I buy things. The shop owners in the black market are no strangers to scamming people. Receiving Pokémon from registered farms are also okay. Professor Oak was considered a okay source. When Percy starts selling Pokémon he'll either sell it to the black market or to the government. There are more benefits for selling to the government than the black market though. All one has to do to sell to the government is to fully heal the Pokémon and go to the closest gym. When selling to the government you can build up credits to cash whenever you want. You can buy all kinds of things such as Pokémon, Gym forms, military privileges, and free Monthly, Yearly Pokecenter passes. The Gym forms are a application where people could apply to all the different gyms to become members. They can then go under an apprenticeship and have free housing and food. All they have to do is carry out the gyms responsibilities. Percy planned on getting the poke center pass as soon as possible. After thinking about his future moves Percy heard Jason call out to him "The Spearow are done!" Percy stood up off a log and groaned as he stretched his stiff muscles. "It smells soooo good." Percy smiled and walked over to the fire where the Spearow spun on sticks cooking. Jason picked up the sticks off the fire and handed Percy one Spearow and ate his own. Then he handed the last Spearow to the Pidgeotto who happily ate the smaller bird. Instead of buying general Pokémon food they bought specific Pokémon food for their Pokémon, which when looked back on wasn't a smart decision. Percy had to keep the Sentret he caught earlier in the ball to slow its energy consumption. A Pokémon with a full stomachs could survive a month without food if stored in a pokeball. Percy and Jason then chowed down on some bird as the camp fell into a comfortable silence. Only the sound of chewing mouths and smacking lips could be heard in the silence of the camp. Occasional grunts of pleasure could be heard as they ate the meat of the bird. Percy was by no means a slow eater and would eat quickly whenever there was a meal. Although he always kept his manners as he was raised around strict guardians. Even though Percy was a fast eater he couldn't tell who was eating faster, him or Jason. Percy and Jason lock eyes and seemed to speed up their eating as if trying to beat the other. The boys picked up in speed as they competed to see who would finish their Spearow first. After about a second of intense eating Jason stops suddenly and puts his hands around his neck. He made some croaking sounds as he used the universal sign of choking. Percys eyes widened as he put down his food and ran to Jason. Percy wrapped his arms around Jason's waist and performed the heimlich maneuver. After 3 thrusts a bone spat out of Jason's mouth and landed on the ground a few meters away. Jason's sucked in air as he recovered on his hands and knees. He coughed a few times and stood up. He bowed to Percy and said "Thanks man. I owe you one." Percy looked at him and said "Let's eat slower next time." The Pidgeotto watched the ordeal with a concerned look on its face as it thought about its future with her trainer. They both continued to eat their Spearow just at a significantly slower pace. After they were done they both stared into the fire. "Hey Jason" Percy said. "Yeah". "I think Charlotte likes you." "I think so too." Both the boys have noticed that whenever Percy asked something Charlotte would ignore him or insult him to his face. But whenever Jason asked something of Charlotte she would obey quickly and blush when Jason talked to her. They both were able to sense emotions with their abilities and knew that Charlotte felt disgust whenever she talked to Percy. She felt admiration and a little lust when she talked to Jason though. Being a psychic and an aura user caused Jason and Percy to be able to sense emotions when talking to somebody. People who were experienced psychics or aura users could hide their emotions. "I don't know what to do about her. I know she's mean and arrogant, but I doubt she's gonna let me go. I'll try to let her down softly but she will probably use her power and money to get me to be with her." Jason contemplated. Both Jason and Percy knew she wasn't nice based on the way she treated her Pokémon. Jason and Percy had to take turns feeding her Ponyta as she didn't want to feed it and didn't even bring food for it. They just fed it the food they brought for themselves. The Ponyta has grown closer to them than Charlotte even though it has been with Charlotte it's whole life. "Just give her your number and run as fast as you can so at least she won't chase you down. She'll call you to meet up or something but you can just call me to make sure nothing happens." Percy explained. "That sounds good. Thanks again." Jason replied. They sat in silence in the night with nothing but the fire making noise and the occasional hoot of a Hoothoot. After sitting quietly for a few more minutes Jason asked "What are you becoming a trainer for Percy?" Then Percy said in a solemn tone, "I need a Full Blood legendary item to make the cure to my dads disease. I either have to become strong enough to take it from a legendary or make enough money to buy it. I only have three years left." Silence covered the camp once more. A few seconds later Percy asked "What about you." Jason thought about it for a minute "I want to destroy Team Rocket. They took everything from me." He growled angrily. Team Rocket was a criminal organization that operated in every region on every continent. It had its strongest roots in Kanto and Johto but stretched everywhere with small branches set up. They weren't exactly evil but they were criminals. Wether it was running a human trafficking ring to high scale robberies and attacks on police buildings. They did a lot. They don't resort to theft on small scales. Maybe some of the low ranking members will rob people without Pokémon but it was not efficient and took more effort to profit. Percy could tell that Jason was extremely aggressive to the organization. He wondered why Jason was staying with Professor Oak and what happened to him to make him so angry. Suddenly Jason stood up and announced "I'm going to sleep." He sent the Pidgeotto to a tree so she could keep watch while they sleep. He crawled into his tent and went to sleep. Percy stood up had Crash put out the fire and crawled into his own tent with Crash. Crash snuggled up into Percy and they both fell asleep.
