Chapter 5

Three days later Percy and Crash were finishing up their 4th training session. They had been repeating their training regiment and have gotten better at their respective skills. Crash has progressed significantly and when Percy scanned him with the Pokedex he was pleasantly surprised.

Level: 15

Type: Water

Abilities: Torrent, Sheer Force

Gender: Male

Potential: Deep red

Moves: Scratch, Leer, Water gun, Rage, Bite, Scary Face, Aqua tail (Inherent move), Scald (Inherent move)

'Why didn't Crash show me when he learned these.' "Excuse me." A voice called out to Percy. Percy turned around and saw a boy about his age. He had dirty blond hair and stood at about six feet. A little taller than Percy. He was handsome with a well built face. "Do you mind sparring with me?" He asked. 'I should have thought to spar with other people. I don't want Crash to be strong on paper and then not have any battle sense.' "That would be great.' Replied Percy. They set the boundaries and Percys opponent let out his Pokémon. A burning Cyndaquill popped out of the pokeball. It yawned lazily and lay on the ground in apparent boredom. Crash saw how his opponent wasn't taking him seriously and started throwing Pokémon insults at the Cyndaquill. The Cyndaquills face tightened up and it stood up angrily and yelled back at the Totodile. "Chill out." The boy said. The Cyndaquill immediately went quiet with a tense look on its face. Percy was quite surprised. 'Although the Pokémon looks lazy at first glance it was trained well. I should take this seriously.' Percy issued his order. "Use Scald." Crash blasted a high pressure cannon of hot water at Cyndaquill. Percy noticed that at the same time he was ordering Crash, Cyndaquill started preparing a move Percy identified as Sunny day. Cyndaquill took a little bit longer to use Sunny day so it was unable to dodge the water. Cyndaquill took a large amount of damage, but it became a lot hotter and a lot more in Cyndaquills favor because of Sunny day. Now Crash's water moves are less effective and Cyndaquills fire moves are more effective. Cyndaquill started preparing another move almost immediately. "Aqua tail Crash!" Percy shouted. Since Cyndaquill started preparing its move first a burst of flame blew out of its mouth into Crash. Crash got blown back a couple feet but took little damage. He resumed his trudging run toward the Cyndaquill. Cyndaquill started preparing another attack which was quick attack. He used the move to get farther away. It looked like they were going for a hit and run tactic. 'This isn't good. I should've made some strategy for this kind of situation. Crash is so slow this strategy will be used a thousand more times.' "Use scald three times." Cyndaquill let out another flame burst and the flames crashed with Crash's body. Crash got thrown backward but was able to keep his concentration and blast boiling hot water at Cyndaquill. The Cyndaquill took the hit head on because it just finished its move and wasn't too skilled at dodging. Cyndaquill didn't look good and could probably only take 1 more water move. Crash could only take 2-3 more fire blasts though. Although Cyndaquill didn't look good there was now a bit of space in between them. It could most likely kite with ease and defeat Crash. Percy understood this and sent a message to Crash via aura. Although he can give Crash orders Crash can't say anything back. He told Crash 'Take all the energy from the heat in Scald, and put it into speed. Crash understood and started preparing scald again. He shot the water which wasn't nearly as hot as before at a significantly faster speed at Cyndaquill. Cyndaquill has learned the speed of the attack and could easily dodge the attack from before. But this faster Scald made for purely pressure and speed was to fast for it to react to with its previous expectations. It was hit in the head which was a critical hit and passed out. Percy returned Crash and walked toward his opponent. "Thank you for the match." "Of course that was great. May I know your name." The blond boy asked. "Percy" He said with a smile. "I'm Jason." 'This is the guy I'm supposed to escort the celebrity with. I should get his contact information.' "How did you give orders to your Cyndaquill." Percy asked. "I'm a psychic. I can only do telepathy and bend spoons right now. I'm still practicing. I noticed you sent your Totodile a aura message. That was great we weren't expecting it at all. You led us on with speaking and then made a secret order to finish. I've learned a lot." Jason exclaimed he seemed quite excited. After chatting for a little bit Percy learned that a lot about Jason. He was serious about his training and really wanted to be strong but he enjoys making jokes and having fun. His Cyndaquills name is Cinder and he got him on the same day Percy got Crash. Percy then checked the stats of it with his Pokédex.

Abilities: Flash fire, Blaze

Gender: Male

Potential: Dark Red

Moves: Leer, Tackle, Smokescreen, Ember, Quick Attack, Sunny Day (Inherent Move), Flame Burst (Inherent Move)

After talking for a few more minutes Jason found out Percy was the person who was supposed to help him escort the idol to Honey City. "I'm looking forward to working with you Percy. Where do you plan on going to after your done at Honey City?" "I think I'll catch all the Pokémon that are good enough for my standards. Then I'll make my way to Viridian Forest and train. I'll also try to enter the Rookie Tournament and maybe get some sponsors." After chatting for a few more minutes they exchanged contact information and went to their respective rooms, which happen to be right next to each other. After Percy got into his room he checked Pokenews. There wasn't a lot of important information except for one piece of news. It said that the southern continent has started negotiating on terms for an alliance. 'I need to get stronger before regional war breaks out. After reviewing the news Percy looked up more information on Totodiles. He learned that they evolve into Croconaw at levels 17-21. He also checked the trainers post for Route 1. There were a couple meaningless posts about some common Pokémon but there were a couple posts that caught his attention. There was a post about how a trainer saw a Growlithe but lost it while trying to chase it. There was also a post about how a Ariados has been grouping together all the Spinarak and has been causing trouble. Percy then yawned turned off his Pokédex and let Crash out of his pokeball. He lay down on his bed with Crash snoring loudly in his arms and fell asleep.
