Chapter Forty-Five

Dawn came quicker then he hoped for, and he was dragged out to meet his doom, but he figured he would be alright as normal flames can't hurt him, he would just die and leave to the heaven liked planned so he lifted his head not showing Jing Guangyao and Jin Guangshan the satisfaction of fear on his face. Though being tied to a cross and lifted in the air over large logs Wei Wuxian didn't expect it was Jin Guangyao who came up and lifted his hand to not only create a flame in his palm but a holy flame that would destroy him completely.

Now becoming scared, Wei Wuxian couldn't stop the tears and the fear rais from his eyes as he stared in horror at Jin Guangyao. This Monster wasn't only going to kill him but to make sure that WeiWuxian would never be born again if he was truly human but as a God who was born from a holy flame could also wipe him out all the same. Letting the fire shot from his palm to the logs the fire roared in large gusts.

"Do you have any last words of Penitence demon!!!" Jin Guanyao yelled out over the sea of angry mobs that cheered for the demise of the one who was to be burned at the stake.

"Please listen to me! He is telling you lies he is doing NOTHING but feeding you ALL lies!!!" the poor soul cried out but his pleas were deafen over the roars of the flames. "Lan Zhan please you must believe me, I never bewitched you, I never had such powers to bewitch anyone!"

"Quiet you, devil!" Lan Qiren cried out defending his nephew's honor. "For your sins and crooked path of Demonic cultivation, and bewitching Lan Wangji of Gusu, you are to die of being burned to ashes!!! Let the Gods be merciful of your soul Wei Wuxian!!!"

The roars grew louder, and all Wei Wuxian could do was cry, and he looked over the sea of people until his eyes came into contact with the one he once thought was his soul mate, His friends, he made during the time he was on Earth were also there among them. Some were heartbroken to see the fate of their friend, while others were too stock of an expression to read them.

Feeling the flames rise around his feet, Wei Wuxian lets out a piercing scream as he looks up to the heavens that were once his home, hoping his parents could hear him, and with luck on his side, they heard their only child's cries and reached out to save their son causing the robes to snap on their own freeing him from the fire and his black wings that he has given up years ago when he arrived on Earth sprouted once more and carried him up and above away from the mortals and away from the mortals that wished to do him harm.

Lan Wangji who was standing next to his brother Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao was shocked to see the wings on his lover's back and as Wei Wuxian flapped them it pushed everyone back with a large gust of wind. Covering his eyes from uplifted dust, once Lan Wangji opened his eyes again, Wei Wuxian was already high up in the sky flying away up to heaven.

Both heartbroken and a sigh of relief Lan Wangji watches his escape even though it was him too damned Wei Wuxian to that fate of death by fire. Feathers falling from the sky Lan Wangji reaches out and takes one in his hand feeling defeated and a greater loss that was done by his own hands.

"Wei Ying…" he whispers as he clutches the feather.
