Chapter 54 Another Incident Arises

The knocking grew louder and louder, to the point where even a deaf person might have heard it by now.

"Is anyone there? Open the door, open the door," he yelled as he knocked, his voice carrying to several of the neighboring villagers.

Seeing that it was Chen Xiaolong causing the commotion, the villagers simply peeked out and said nothing more.

Had it been anyone else, they probably would have been cursing by now.

"No one's answering, huh? Well, then I might just kick the door down," Chen Xiaolong said with a slight smile, pretending he was about to burst in.

The dilapidated gate surely wouldn't withstand a kick, and Chen Xiaolong seemed determined to force his way in.

"Enough, stop it right now," an elderly voice finally shouted, and a man in his fifties trudged toward them, his face clouded with anger.

He wore a plain white undershirt; he wasn't tall, with a rather narrow philtrum, balding hair, and a somewhat stout figure.
