A Successful Test

In a laboratory tens of scientists are looking at the screen showing many parameters and graphics. There is not a single whisper among them. everyone has their full attention on the countdown on the screen.

At exactly the time the countdown hit the zero a digital voice sounded.

[Biological sequence is starting]

[Artificial blood is now being pumped]

[beep] [beep] [beep]....

[Pulse rate is 80]

[Neurons are online]

[Every parameter is within safe boundaries]

At that time, a huge cheer erupted within the crowd of scientists. Everyone either shedding tears or clapping crazily to cope with the excitement they are experiencing. 

At that time in front of the crowd, a man in his sixties stood with a confident smile on his face. His attire is mature and neat not like other scientists in the room. A young scientist approached near and said "Mr. Bulut, readings are stable. We can continue as planned."

"Okay then let us continue. The hard part of the test was successful." Mr. Bulut said and turned to the screen "Beyaz, you can continue. You have permission to begin analog and digital sequences."

[Okay Mr. Bulut]

[Analog sequence is starting]

[Electric output of nerve cells are giving are stable]

[Analog processing unit is online]

[Digital processing unit is online] 

[Connection between neurons and processing units are stable]

[All systems including communication are online]

[All tests are finished. Congratulations to everyone there is no anomaly. Tests are all successful.]

"Thank you, Beyaz. You too deserve a congratulation. Without you, this project could not be finished this soon."

At that time, a digital avatar materialized and said with a smile "Thank you Mr. Bulut. if not for you, neither me nor this project could have come to life."

"Well, it was a pleasure knowing you. Please have my voice raised. I have things to say to my colleagues" Gunes said.

[Mr. Bulut wants to have a word. Please be quiet.] The noisy crowd began to listen.

Gunes began to speak as his voice echoed in the laboratory through speakers "First of all I want to thank every one of the scientists here for their dedication to this project. Without you, this crazy project of mine could not have been finished. As lead scientist of the project, I am pleased to tell you that I negotiated with the company. I managed to get all of you a well-deserved bonus and additional benefits."

The crowd cheered loudly again.

"Again, I am sincerely grateful to all of you. I hope we will be colleagues again on another project."

[As project coordinator of this project I too am grateful to you all. Even though I am an AI you did not discriminate or fear me]

A loud clap erupted at that time. Everyone started to hug and congratulate each other.

"Is my boat ready Beyaz?"

"Yes, Gunes. It is waiting on the seventh gate."

"Let us go then. There is a lot to do." 

"Diana is calling. Do you want to answer now?"

"Yes," replied Gunes while getting in the boat.

"Hi, honey. I heard it was a success. Congratulation" Diana said on the earpiece.

"You are pretty quick to hear the news, Diana. Thanks. It seems, I won the bet. my project finished earlier than yours," chuckled Gunes. 

"Yeah, I concede defeat. Well not by so much anyway. The company permitted the test on the 25th so you have just beaten me by 22 days."

"Well good for you. This is the project of your lifetime. I hope it will be a big success. I am going to surface now. There probably will be a press conference about today's success. You probably will be busy with the project. I will see you at your station later. Bye." said while sitting inside the cabin and it can be seen the earth rotating bellow through the glass. 

"Sorry honey, I cannot be by your side. I will see you soon. Bye," she sighed and ended the call.

Gunes sighed. Ever since their marriage, no! Even before their marriage, they could not live their married life together enough. Because they are a lead scientist on their projects, they cannot see each other often. They are not even on the same station. 'Well, at least both stations are in the earth's orbit.' He thought. 

"Mr. Park is waiting on hold," told Beyaz, interrupting Gunes` train of thought.

"Connect him," told Gunes. "Hi, Mr. Park." 

"Hi, Mr. Bulut I have gotten the report of your test. Congratulations," said Mr. Park on the earpiece.

"Thank you, Mr. Park. Without your assistance, it would not have gotten to this stage this quickly. I am on my way to the press conference. Are you going to be the speaker?" asked Gunes.

"Of course not. it will be our genius Mr. Gunes who will make the speech. People would like to see their hero, you, on that stage."

Gunes groaned "Ah, please! You know I do not like being on the news."

"Well, I have already released the news that Big Hero of AI catastrophe will give a press conference about a revolutionary breakthrough. So, you have no choice." Told Mr. Park. Although Gunes could not see his face, he was sure that right now the CEO was smirking.

Gunes sighed "I knew it. Anyway, I am entering the atmosphere right now. See you there." He ended the call and said, "Beyaz you should know that you are the only reason I am doing this personally." 

Beyaz said "I am aware. You want to introduce me as one of the contributors to this project. Thank you."

"Not just that. I will also make sure to emphasize your importance to me. They all need to get rid of their AIphobia. It has been 30 years already. Anyway, we are at the headquarters. I am going to sleep a little bit in the boat when the conference time arrives wake me up," said Gunes and started to sleep. It has been days since he had a sleep.

After a couple of hours, Beyaz woke Gunes up. After freshening himself up Gunes walked to the salon where the conference would be held. It was the time of sunset. Clean breeze and scarlet sunrays gave Gunes serenity. He was feeling good. Who would not feel good after finishing the work he tirelessly worked for ten years? He breathed in, stood firm, and stepped into the salon.
