____Narration____

Doppo watched Gensai meditate in silence, his brow furrowed in clear annoyance.

When he approached to talk to his old friend, the only thing he received in response was silence. At this point, he believed that meeting the boy prodigy, Yuji Shinakawa, would have earned him an interesting conversation, since due to everything that had happened at the tournament, he didn't have much time to approach the boy.

A whole hour passed, and while the third round of the tournament was about to begin, Doppo was wasting time waiting for Kuroki Gensai to awaken from his meditation.

Doppo, as a martial artist, also had his moments of meditation, but he wouldn't keep an old friend waiting for hours because of that, so watching Gensai was making him a little impatient.

"Long time no see, Doppo Orochi."

Fortunately, Doppo didn't have to wait long to finally receive a response from his fellow karateka. And he smiled at that.

"I thought I would need to kick him to get him out of this trance, like in the old days." Doppo crossed his arms over his chest as his eyes followed Gensai getting up.

"Old times... Tell me, how much is the score of our disputes?"

Hearing Kuroki's question, Doppo held his chin thoughtfully. The two martial artists had known each other for years, and had faced each other countless times before, which made the process of remembering all their encounters a bit time-consuming.

"If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, I believe we're even."

Kuroki Gensai did not react with the answer. In fact, he already seemed to know. Fighters would never forget fights that had pushed them to their limits.

"I understand." Kuroki nodded in agreement, but while Doppo expected it to end at that, he was surprised when the Kaiwan Style master turned around with a hostile aura exploding from his body. "So, would you like a tie-breaker?"

And Doppo couldn't hold back his laughter when he saw it.

"You're pretty confident, aren't you?" Doppo laughed for a few seconds, before finally stopping. "You'll be up against a very interesting boy, I wouldn't be too proud."

From experience, Doppo knew that young men could not be underestimated. Yuji clearly hadn't used everything he had at his disposal, and the Karateka realized that this was purposeful. It was as if the young fighter knew that he was going to face a monster like Kuroki, so he purposely put himself in disadvantageous situations in his fights, so that the fighters would believe that despite being a prodigy, he was still inexperienced.

Doppo feared that his friend had not even watched the boy's fights to realize this.

"The boy is strong." But from Kuroki's next words, Doppo realized that this was not the case. "He has a lot of potential."

"But if the only thing he has to offer is his hidden techniques, he won't be able to beat me."

"To have a chance, he needs more time to mature."

.

Blocking a kick aimed at his stomach, Yuji jumped backwards to take distance from his opponent.

After quite a while of explanations, Niko Tokita seemed to finally understand exactly where he stood. Initially, Yuji had believed that Taira and Niko's style master were not going to get along, but he was quite surprised to see them chatting amicably just a few minutes after the explanations.

It was obvious that Niko was still upset with the old man for killing him, but they seemed to settle more and more as they talked.

It was a little strange that Yuji was unable to understand the details of their conversation because he was far away, since technically, that was his mind, and nothing could hide in his own mind.

But he didn't think much of it, putting the blame on the system and its mysteries. If he stopped to think about every strange detail he had ever seen in this world, one day he would go mad.

After both masters caught up, Yuji promptly explained what was going on at the tournament to Niko, but it was shocking to find that Niko already knew most things. It seemed that somehow he had been able to manifest himself to Ohma, in an attempt to put some sense into her head.

Which had worked, after all, Ohma was finally back in her prime.

So, after having the whole situation sorted out, Yuji decided to ask Niko himself for a quick match between them. If he wasn't wrong, the third round would start in a few hours, so he wanted to take advantage of the little he had to extract as much information as possible from Niko.

And fortunately, or unfortunately, Niko readily accepted.

Boom!

Deflecting the trajectory of a punch to the ground, Yuji was surprised when the ground beneath his feet broke, his quick thinking allowing him to quickly jump up and kick Niko with both feet, pushing the master away and preventing him from taking advantage of his lack of balance.

"Great reaction, kid!" Niko complimented, but Yuji didn't have time to appreciate his words as the master swept the distance between the two. "But will that be enough?"

Raising his guard, Yuji promptly blocked a punch and countered with a hook, only to have his wrist parried with ease.

"After all, I am quite a challenge." Squeezing the boy's wrist, Niko declared with a proud smile.

!

Manipulating Yuji's flow, Niko was about to throw the young fighter's body into a 360-degree spin, but he was surprised when, in a twist unexpected even to Taira Genzan, Yuji stopped the technique and stayed in place.

"That makes me a little excited, Mister Niko." Clenching his teeth in a grin, Yuji was clearly doing an enormous amount of force to keep his body from being thrown about, if the bulging veins on his forehead weren't indication enough. "Because I love overcoming challenges."

Boom!

Niko choked when Yuji's fist hit him squarely in the chest without him even being able to see it, the power of the attack and the lack of oxygen causing him to stagger back several steps.

"Damn... You took me by surprise." Niko clutched his knees as he breathed hard, his eyes turning up to stare at Yuji. "Fuck, how the hell do I feel pain even after I'm dead?"

"..!"

When the eyes of both masters turned to the young fighter, shock ran across their faces at the strange sight.

"What? What happened to your arm?" Niko asked with concern.

Yuji blinked upon hearing her question, his eyes slowly trailing towards his left arm with curiosity.

"Oh... It seems my body really isn't ready for this technique."

Blood was pouring from his left arm, his torn muscles showing while much of his skin had disappeared. A grotesque sight, even for the masters, who had witnessed countless such situations before.

"Well, it's great that I know the outcome."
