7 Chapter 7

Today was another day into the boring life of a human being—

—Well, not really. "Currently, I am heading towards the kingdom of Ingrassia." he mused, his posture relaxed yet his expression marked by a profound seriousness.

With his legs crossed and his voice reduced to a whisper, it almost appeared as though he was engaged in a dialogue with someone sitting opposite him.

Except for… There was no one in front of him, he was simply soliloquizing, he's literally slowly going insane from boredom.

—Flashback.

Earlier before they set off.

"Are you ready?" Hinata asked, at the front gate of Ruberios drawing the attention of passersby who cast envious glances at the trio—two young women flanking a lone young man which attracted a lot of jealous stares from male onlookers.

Of course, they couldn't openly express their hostility towards Igarashi.

Hinata personally came out to see them off, as Igarashi had already given a precise time of when they'll be departing. Seriously, 'Surely, it's about time someone devised a more accurate method of timekeeping—a clock, perhaps'

"Yeah. I've made all necessary preparations, if everything goes well, I'll be returning in a week or two's time." Igarashi shook his head, before pausing, a faint smile gracing his lips.

"Ah, Hinata-san, don't tell me you're worried about me?" He then joked, though his attempt fell flat in the face of Hinata's seriousness.

"Be serious," Hinata said sharply, causing Igarashi to stand on attention, "Yes ma!" Lest he find himself facing the sharp edge of a blade, and that, he doesn't want.

"As long as you don't cause trouble for Shizu-sensei, then everything will be okay." Hinata reiterated, her eyes closed which made Igarashi's lips twitch as he opened his mouth in exasperation as the words, "Hinata-san, what do you take me for…?" Came out.

"…" Hinata opened her eyes, staring at him, her gaze lingering, as she stared him down before closing her eyes again. "Who knows…"

'This woman…' Igarashi thought with an amused smile, as he really didn't take it seriously.

In a way, he was already used to it and can't be bothered to be surprised by it.

"You two, it's enough." Shizu intervened, taking charge by grabbing Igarashi's shoulder, before crossing her hands in an 'x' motion.

"If Shizu-sensei says so." Hinata simply shrugged in response, deferring to Shizu's words, to which Igarashi followed suit.

"Oh, looks like our carriage is already here." Igarashi turned his gaze to the side as he noticed noticing the horse-drawn carriage approaching. His expression soured slightly. 'Haah.'

"Horsedrawn? Haah," he sighed resignedly, already bracing himself for a bumpy ride. Though he was the one who booked for the ride…

…But when he did, he didn't think much of it. Maybe he should have thought more of it.

And now… "Haah."

"Is there anything wrong with an horsedrawn carriage?" Shizu asked tapping him by the shoulder tilting her head to the sides.

"Hmm... I'm expecting a lot of bumps and not a smooth ride," Igarashi deadpanned, his tone reflecting a resigned acceptance. With a long sigh then a shrug, he began to make his way towards the awaiting carriage.

Seeing him walking towards the carriage, Hinata couldn't help but comment under her breath, "He's weird." Though her words were audible enough for Shizu to catch.

Curious, Shizu leaned in towards Hinata, asking, "Hinata, what do you mean by that?"

Hinata sighed before responding, "Just what I mean, Sensei…"

—Present.

"Just as I predicted, is just how it happened," Igarashi murmured to himself once more, staring off into the space before him.

It's been almost a day; it was driving Igarashi crazy.

Many hours without doing nothing.

"Ugh, if I had known, I would have brought the chess board with me to pass time off with Sensei," he lamented inwardly, casting a glance around the interior of the carriage.

Beside him, Shizu sat, perhaps, because she's always wearing her mask, he couldn't tell, if she was simply staring off into space, or she was dozing off.

'Is she sleeping?' he pondered, tilting his head to the side before shaking his head in resignation and settled back against the carriage walls, a sudden realization struck him.

'Wait, now that I'm here, maybe I should try…' Igarashi mumbled as he stretched out his hand.

—Earlier, as he and Shizu departed for Ruberios, it was nearing afternoon. By the time the sun reached its zenith, he had used that chance to reset the library's internal clock. Which was just one of the things on his list.

Now currently…

Igarashi continued to struggle with his training arc.

Despite his unique library skill being well-suited to him, he found the library's functions lacking. Why is it that the 'records' in the library can't physically manifest into the outside world?

If they could, things would be much simpler.

He could simply physically manifest one of the 'objects' from his memories via the library, making it real. And from there, everything else would basically be gg easy!

"Then, if by some way I can use magic to permanently duplicate an item. That way... wouldn't I become a human printer?"

Heck, not only would he technically become a human printer, he'll even be rich! "Infinite money material glitch." A crazed glint crossed Igarashi's eyes for a moment.

Perhaps it was due to his less-than-honourable intentions. Shizu instinctively grabbed her sword while she was asleep, which made Igarashi silently discard those thoughts, tossing them out the carriage.

'I don't want to get cut down by a sword, yet.'

Still, however, regardless, that didn't mean he wouldn't consider it, not the money part though, as they were the least of his worries.

"Then what should I do?" Igarashi mused again with a sigh, his gaze shifting upwards, "Library, can your functions even evolve?"

[…]

The library didn't answer. Or rather it couldn't. It simply could not answer something it doesn't even know itself. So, it didn't reply. However, …

"Che! Cheapskate!" Igarashi playfully jeered with a whisper, holding both hands vertically near his mouth as he jokingly insulted his non-sentient unique skill. Of course, he wasn't serious about it.

[…]

However, if it had sentient thought, it would definitely have felt insulted by this statement. Even though it wasn't sentient, it had records of this very moment.

'So, that means, it may be possible.' What Igarashi was hoping for was the evolution of the library function. A function whereby he could manifest objects from his past lives, drawn directly from the memories stored within the library, excluding stored events.

The records of a physical object Igarashi himself had a memory of, which could literally be anything, as long as he had a memory of it!

In other words, Igarashi wants to... "I want to physically manifest objects from my memories, and to do that, the library function has to evolve."

Of course, Igarashi also expects some sort of setbacks, even if this desire of him has been achieved. He doesn't think it will be that easy, afterall.
