9 Chapter 9

In the bat cave, Bruce Wayne, in his Batman personal is seen sitting in front of a huge computer as he watched the news. Standing behind him was his butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

"Today, there was a huge breakout in the Arkham Asylum due to a power outage. Many died due to this and Harley Quinn and others successfully escaped." The reporter said. "A new mete human has appeared in Gotham city and he is thought to be the one behind the breakout. His ability is super speed as shown in this footage captured from the helicopter that was overseeing the scene."

A video that was taken by a helicopter appeared on the screen with a lot of noise in the background. The video then zoomed into Rick and he was seen standing still with his two hands by his side and blood rushing down his arm. Bright purple lighting suddenly started appearing around his body before he ran and with a trail of purple lighting, zoomed past the crowd, past the police wall, and into the city.

"His name has been identified to be Rick Brandon, also known as Rick the Cannibal..."

"Batcomputer being up ever information Rick Brandon and the survivance footage of the asylum," Batman said, cutting off the reporter.

Many documents appeared on the screen and Batman started reading. "Rick Brandon, born December 17th, 1967.." After some hours of reading the most important files of Rick, he pulled up the survivance footage and went to the 5th floor and the camera overlooking Rike's door.

He fast-forwarded it a few hours before the nurse appeared on the screen. He watched as she was suddenly pulled into the room then how Rick came out with blood around his body. He watched as Rick went to the power room and some seconds later, there was a 5 minutes jump in the camera timer.

Batman guessed that it was due to the power outage so he went through all the cameras before finding Rick on the first floor.

"This doesn't make any sense. With Rick suddenly becoming a speedster. I was the one who caught him and he showed no sign of being a speedster, only his abnormal strength, and regeneration, but nothing else." Batman said, tapping the table. "Even for the past year's he car been living in Gotham City, he showed no sign of being a speedster."

"What do you mean sir?" Alfred asked.

"How did he gain his speed? The speedster from Central City named Flash, gained his power from a lightning struck. Reverse flash also gained his power like that. What I am saying is that they all got their power from some kind of electricity accident." Batman said, tapping away at his computer. "From what I see through his files, he has never been in any of those kinds of accidents. So how did he gain his power? Did something happen inside the electronic room that we don't know or did something happen during the blackout... I need to learn more about these speedsters and see the source of their speed if it even has one."

"I will go investigate later but now one of the craziest men in Gotham became a meta-human, Gotham will be crazier. Haa. This will be annoying due to his newfound speed." Batman said, standing up. "Inform all the bat family to keep an eye on this new speedster known as Rick Brandon and gather as much information about him as they can. Tell them not to engage in any fight against him unless it is absolutely necessary or if they want to engage, two of them must go at once."

"Ok, sir." Alfred said bowing.

"Especially Nightwing." Batman said as he walked toward the batmobile. "I am going out to investigate what happened in the asylum."
