It had been a few minutes since she had woken up. But she didn't move. She could hear the soft rise and fall of someone's chest and the air they inhaled and left out. She could sense the darkness surrounding every inch of the air that she breathed in. It was hanging thick like a curtain of smoke, ready to choke her life out. 

'Master. open your eyes already.' The Tohar Sehlah's voice rang in her head urgently, 'We have to escape while we have the chance.'

Luna ran her tongue over her lips, moistening its dry surface nervously as she listened to the breathing of whoever was lying next to her on the silken mattress. It was stable, she noted, quite stable enough to be sleeping. Taking a deep breath, she opened one eye and then the other, careful not to be too quick and disturb their sleep.
