Chapter 24 Time To Leave

Joanne couldn't help but laugh as she listened to her mother's overly dramatic cries and her father's delighted tone in the background. The fact that they had all reconciled their differences without any animosity towards one another meant that there was only one more assignment left, and she had no idea how to complete it.

Joanne pushed herself up against the doorframe and made the decision to take a stroll through the mansion. She has never been in a home that can compare to the mansion that Zachary owns; it is both grand and stunning.

Before she can complete her duty and eventually depart from this planet, she needs to fully take everything in.

Despite the enormous fences that surrounded the estate, she was able to readily see the mansions that came after it because of Jewel.

"Could you please show me my stats board, Jewel?"

"Okay." Jewel's mechanical voice sounded.

"Whew... I only have one more mission to do, and then I'll be able to return to my system. I've been here for a few months, and in that time, I've managed to rack up a total of 1,700 points. What do you think of that, Jewel? Is it a positive development or not?"

"Your standing is above average in comparison to that of other employees in the system. Regarding the purpose of your mission, you have been performing admirably."

"Hehehe... "It feels great to receive a compliment from you." Joanne squealed with delight as she splashed around in the water of the fountain. Joanne could definitely put her legs into the fountain water without the water even coming close to touching her garments because the water in the fountain was not very deep.

"I am not giving you a compliment; what I have stated is a reality."

"Jewel, you did not need to phrase it in that way. You may simply go on allowing me to have my delusions, thanks." Joanne spoke to herself in a mumble. She was lounging on some grassy terrain when she gazed up at the skies and began to say what she thought the clouds looks like.

She had become so engaged in what she was doing that she did not notice when someone stood in front of her and blocked the sunshine from reaching her.

Joanne blinked her eyes many times as she glanced at the boy who was standing in front of her in shock.

"Killian? What exactly are you doing in this place?" Almost instantly, Joanne got to her feet. The young lad went up to her and knelt down next to her, supporting his weight on his knees. He was in the fetal position but while sitting.

"Today, my grandfather brought me to this place. He mentioned that he needed to see someone, but I didn't anticipate seeing you here. Why are you even here in the first place?" Killian was curious.

"This house belonged to my grandpa!" Excitedly, Joanne shared her opinion. "Since Killian's grandfather is present, this must be my opportunity to complete my final mission before moving on to the next one, and I won't waste it!"

"Really! That is one incredible family you have!"Killian's grin extended all the way to the corners of his mouth.

"You are correct. In the end, it's my family, but I'm pretty awesome too, aren't I?"

"You are, in all honesty. Hey, Joanne! Would you be interested in meeting my grandfather? He is always telling me that I should make new friends, but I don't get along with any of my other students; the only one I like is you. If I introduce you to him, then there is a good chance that he will also like you!" Killian cracked a grin.

Despite the fact that Killian and his grandfather don't have a lot of conversation, Killian still gets a lot of guidance from the old guy.

"Is that so? What makes you believe that he'll take a liking to me? Is it because I'm so beautiful and so intelligent?" Joanne laughed gleefully while thrusting her face forward in a shameless manner.

"You're right! You have a very lovely appearance. "Come on, let me take you to where he is." Killian grabbed Joanne by the hand and immediately began running in the direction of where his grandfather is. Joanne, who was following closely behind him, exhaled heavily as she ran.

Although her physical condition prevented her from engaging in activities of this nature, she didn't grumble about it. After all, she would still be successful in completing her task. And from what we can see, things between the two of them aren't all that bad at all. Therefore, it would not be very difficult at all to bring them even closer together! And the way in which she intended to carry it out was...

"Hello grandpa, my name is Joanne and I am a classmate of Killian's," Joanne said to the grandfather. Joanne grinned endearingly while cocking her head to the side.

To sing Killian's songs of praise and paint him as a very good and quiet boy who does everything the teacher tells him to do.

When they reached the area where Killian's grandfather was seated, Joanne halted and gave her greetings while bowing her head ever-so-slightly.

"Oh? Killian, you brought a friend with you?" Even though it was more of a statement than a question, Killian nevertheless responded to it.

"Yes! I'm sure you've told me before that I need to surround myself with positive people. This is Joanne; in addition to being incredibly intelligent, she is also very pretty." Instantaneously, Killian started praising her and giving her compliments. It seemed as though insects were buzzing about their ears as his voice flew around in their heads.

Joanne remained silent while wearing an embarrassed smile. Why is he the one beginning to laud his praises while she is the one who was expected to start doing that in the first place?

"Child?" Killian's grandfather called out, breaking Joanne from her thoughts. His voice had a really calming and compassionate quality to it.

Joanne, hypnotised, raised her eyes to stare at him.

"Would it be possible for you to get closer to me? I'd like to have a good look at your face."

Joanne nodded and climbed the pavillion to meet Killian's grandfather. He stroked Killian's head tenderly before moving on to hers as well.

"He characterised you as being quite lovely, and he was right. You have got to be the youngster who encouraged him to have a conversation with me, don't you?"

"Uh... I guess so." When Joanne responded, she did so with a bit of a perplexed expression. Killian might have mentioned to him that she was the one who encouraged him to get over his fear of his grandfather and spend more time with him.

"Killian, you have a wonderful friend in me. You should maintain your friendship with her indefinitely. She looks like a wonderful person and is one as well."

"Ding! Completed the submission, and now on to the main task! In one hour, the host will return to the Jade Life System, thus preparations must be made now. Would the host be willing to offer her farewells?"

Joanne's ears rang at the sound of Jewel's voice.

"My mission is successful? And even another sub mission was completed? But I haven't done a thing. In any case, I prefer it to be like this. My first task was quite simple and straightforward to finish. I got the impression that it will become increasingly difficult as time passes. Oh, just give me an hour to finish my farewells. It seems that I've developed a certain fondness for these individuals."

"Okay. The host is provided with one hour. The host will be returned to the Jade Life System after an hour has passed."

Time resumed its normal flow, and Killian's grandfather resumed his soothing scalp massage on both of their heads. Although Joanne didn't like it, she had to leave.

"Grandpa, you need to keep in mind that you should always have a conversation with your grandson anytime there is something about what he is doing that bothers you. Communication is the most important factor! I'm going to see you in school very soon, Killian. I can almost hear my mother and father calling out for me!"

"J... Joanne!"
