1 Chapter 1 - World Cubes

AHH!

"Save me!"

AHH!

The screams of other students could be heard; all of whom I never closely knew. From side to side they were being hunted and our numbers dwindled. Those who weren't fast enough to escape the claws and jaws of the two dog beasts, were slaughtered.

I could have said that they looked like dogs but they were fifty times larger, and they were more like beasts, no they were monsters; the normal dogs we grew as pets were but mere cute bunnies compared to those monsters behind me.

- - - - -

I've always heard that parents tell stories like Bambi or the prince saves the princess, but I was never interested in them, rather I wondered how it might be if I was in a world of dangerous wonders.

The books and comics that I read were filled with survivability, monsters, and the Mc Being Op.

But I had Never thought It would be a hundred times more surreal than ever.

- - - - -

'Run'

That single word repeatedly rehearsed and urged me to escape. I wasn't the fastest sprinter in my class, I wasn't the fastest in the entire school, and I definitely wasn't an athlete.

'So how am I able to last this long?'

It might have been the adrenaline that kicked in or it might have been just my instinct.

'How did things turn out like this?'

06/07/2022

A Sakura petal flew in through the window. My instincts somehow told me so, but I wasn't sure at that moment. I was half asleep in class and I wasn't paying any heed to my surroundings.

Sure, I could feel the wind beating and drifting, taking along a sweet scent. I could also slightly hear the chatter of the teacher and classmates, but even though it was sunny outside it didn't matter. The Sakura tree beside my window made it cool and a perfect environment to take a nap.

You might have guessed. It didn't matter if I slept in class, the teacher never cared if I did, or worse, my peers. They were more or less tasked by god to give me a living hell.

My name is Ash Rizfal.

I'm 17 years old and attending Spring High University.

I'm mostly the quiet type of guy who sticks to the four corners of a room. Never was I involved in class, school activities, sports or group work. I always despised group work. I didn't find it helpful nor did I find it fun. I liked doing things alone.

Maybe because I liked doing things alone it was the cause that I ended up all alone. I don't have parents. They died when I was 4, I barely even remember their faces. I don't have friends and the only family I had was an old man that recently died.

Don't get me wrong. I don't need pity, in fact I like being alone. Alone in my own little world, but my classmates and teachers always have to somehow envied my world with their blabbering.

Sigh* It's literally hell in this class and a drag to go to school.

I never see the point of education. Once you're finished that's it, you get a job and live as a slave to society's rules.

But that's all, it gets you a job. Basically it gives me thousands of problems to solve throughout the years, stressing to get a single paper that states degree and accomplishment, but it all ends up giving me - a job?

Sigh* What am I going to do? I might be able to somehow become the next Stevi, Stevan Idk Steve Jobs I think.

Yeah. I'm an Idiot but I somehow passed my grades. I'm basically a genius if I set my mind to it. I mean, I don't listen and I sleep throughout the class…In fact, I achieve an average of 80% by just sleeping.

I mean come on, that's more than enough proof that I'm some genius...Right?

I'd care less If I failed but I at least need to try. Sigh* but it's a drag.

I wish I was living in a world with adventures, mysteries and dangers. Fighting beasts, monsters and the bad guy.

Sigh* But I guess I'd never get to.

Ding*

"W-what's this."

"Can anyone see it too?'

"Y-Yeah I see it too!"

"Can anyone explain to me what this thing is?"

"It looks like a game panel."

"A Hologram?"

"Everyone Keep Calm." The young female teacher that seemed to be in her early twenties said. Her flawless dull red hair was tossed behind her back, her eyeglasses almost hid her beautiful deep purple eyes. Although she was also shocked by the blue transparent square like panel, as a teacher she need to stay calm.

'What's the fuss all about sigh* interrupting my sleep again.'

'H-huh what's going on?'

'T-this…'

* * * * *

What would it be like to be teleported to another World of your choice?

* * * * *

In a trice, crystal cubes emerged. Inside them different terrain and environments were put on display, each cube had a different Name along with skull symbols which not everyone was giving their attention, since everyone was rather mesmerized with what was inside the cube.

Everything inside these cubes were vivid as if a god was looking down to earth, while the waves hit the shore or the birds that flew in the sky it all indicated a small world filled with color and life.

* * * * * *

Cube #1 – Inside this cube a world of fire and lava, a defiant No. Since, it not only seemed lifeless but also as if you would instantly die if you set foot on its scorching hot surface. Not only that but the name itself stated clear danger. – World of Hell

Cube #2 - Inside this cube was a world of dilapidated modern buildings with green vines growing on them and the streets that had rusted vehicles. There were also several small groups of people that walked weirdly. But what made things crystal clear was the name itself. – World of Apocalypse

Cube #3 – A rather similar world to the Apocalypse world, however, this time the atmosphere seemed filled with toxic radiation, ships were abandoned on land, skeletons of animals were slightly visible, but what made things more interesting were huge craters in the middle of what once seemed to be the seas and oceans. – World of extinction. The name itself screamed volumes as to what might have happened but looking at the skull symbols; there were only 4.

Cube #4 – A world engulfed with vegetation. There were no visible dangers, not even the name stated it, however, the skull symbols were on display, indicating that this world might be much more dangerous than all the previous ones. Of course not everyone paid heed to the skull symbols, and if they did, not many quickly understood what it meant. – World of Wonders

* * * * *

The 4th cube painted a very illusionary meaning, many might choose this world out of spite, but do people actually need to choose. No one knows why this current events are happening, everyone is puzzled by it, and by all means these events are not trustworthy and it might as well be death if you choose the wrong world.

There aren't many who know how to survive in such environments and not everyone has the courage, physique nor the intelligence to do so. Then do we have to choose? I know I had stated that I wanted to live in another world but all these worlds' basically lead to your immediate death and nothing reassures you of surviving.

Ding*

Randomly choosing A world in 10sec.

Initiation Countdown… 10sec>>9sec>>

* * * * *

'W-what, sh*t even if you don't choose. This thing will randomly choose it for you.' Sigh*

* * * * *

8sec>>

* * * * *

'Ok. The first world. World of hell has a total of 2 skulls, however, I hate the name. The most possible scenario is an insta death.'

* * * * *

7sec>>

* * * * *

'World number 2. World of Apocalypse, a total of 3 skulls I've read many comics of this world but what guaranties that there are other survivors, no even if there are, what about food or water there will be limited supplies to live and a weak person like me, I'd die in less than a week the same goes to the 3rd world nothing is clear, the world has become a total dessert there might not be any food. No, even worse - water…'

* * * * *

6sec>>

* * * * *

'The 4th world has all the necessary things to survive but the number of skull symbols indicate that surviving is very low. Sigh*

* * * * *

5sec>>

* * * * *

'What will the others do?'

"Everyone seems to be in deep thought."

Looking around, Ash's eyes settled on one distinctive person. Her skin was white as snow but her hair and eyelids were black as ink. Her red eyes were static; she soon quickly decided to lift a hand; with her index finger she touched the 4th cube, in a trice she disappeared.

'She… disappeared.' Ash was shocked.

"The Class president disappeared"

"D-did you see. The class president chose the 4th world."

* * * * *

3sec>>

* * * * *

"Y-yeah should we choose it as well?"

"It's the class president, she must have a reason."

* * * * *

2sec>>

The other students were skeptical if they should do the same, not even the teacher said a word, but one by one, they all soon seemed to chose the same.

- - - - -

'Sh*t whatever!"

* * * * *

1sec>>

* * * * *

Ash then motioned to choose the 4th world – The World of Wonders.

By now the classroom was completely empty. Not all students had the same resolve, some had chosen a different world, however, most of them had chosen the 4th world.
