Chapter 8: Forge Studios

[March 15th, 2004]

After the video's release, viewers began to inquire about the source of the game and shared their excitement about such a game being released.

As days passed, Five Nights at Freddy's was officially released, inciting widespread frenzy in the gaming world.

The recorded livestream posted on YouTube captured everyone's attention and became the central topic in gaming news.

It achieved phenomenal success.

Many players rushed to purchase Fnaf, which garnered a substantial following of intrigued and excited individuals, ensuring resounding success among the gaming community.

There were numerous let's plays, discussions about theories, and strategies for surviving the night. The game's popularity continued to surge.

Rachel, the streamer who had received early access, found herself somewhat overwhelmed by the game's popularity, but she was content with the support she received from her viewers.

The game catapulted her to newfound fame and, most importantly, reignited her fear of horror games.

She enjoyed the game and began creating let's play videos by editing her livestreams to make them more appealing as standalone videos.

This endeavor was met with considerable success, which brought her great happiness.

Amidst this gaming excitement, the mysterious creator of Fnaf, known as Blackstar, captured everyone's attention. This enigmatic figure seemingly emerged from nowhere and had crafted two games that became the talk of the town.

Gaming-related news outlets and others couldn't cease discussing the cryptic post made by Blackstar: "Some things are better off forgotten."

This post stimulated contemplation not only about the game itself but also about speculations and theories revolving the game's lore.

The gaming world found itself in a period where unexpected successes, such as Flappy Bird's rapid ascent, took center stage. This unpredictability led people to question the volatile nature of the gaming industry.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Ethan, the individual responsible for these two remarkable games, held a meeting with three other individuals in a quiet room.

These three people, visibly nervous, were aware that Ethan had personally selected them. Each possessed diverse skills in game development:

Ling Chen a 24 year old, Chinese game programmer who comes from Shanghai, He graduated from Fudan university.

Elsa Eriksson a 27 year old Swedish game artist from Stockholm who is self-taught in 3d modeling and 2d art. She possesses an immense passion for art.

And lastly: Connor Donnell, a 21 year old skilled sound engineer from England, London who just recently graduated from an ordinary music university, although new to the industry is a genius, and has a deep passion for crafting unique and atmospheric soundscapes.

Tension filled the room as Ethan examined their resumes. Then, one of the more confident individuals cleared his throat and asked.

"…Are you Blackstar?" The question was asked by Ling Chen, his eyes reflected a glint of curiosity.

Ethan nodded, confirming his true identity.

The three people gazed at the man before them, the person everyone had been talking about. The shocking part was that he was quite young, around 19-20 years old, and had already achieved two resounding successes.

They stared at each other in silence for awhile.

Until, Ethan cleared his throat and began to express his thoughts.

"I've brought you all here for a specific reason. You are all experts in your respective fields, while you lack experience in this industry, you make up for it in talent."

He paused briefly to gauge their reactions before continuing. "Many companies invest millions in games, enhancing their graphics, integrating VR, and attempting to improve games as a whole. However, they often fail to think outside the box."

As the trio attentively listened, he continued, "I have a dream. It's not a dream about profits or glory; it's a dream of entertainment. I want to create games that brighten our mundane lives, making them more enjoyable, engaging, and educational."

"I wish to enhance people's quality of life through a medium that educates and entertains in a fun and bizarre way." he declared.

He expressed his desire to continue working independently, but the harsh reality often presented obstacles. He acknowledged that he couldn't change everything by himself, which was why he had reached out to them. While he valued their expertise, he was also interested in their perspectives on games.

Ethan leaned forward and posed a question to the trio, "What are your opinions on the current games on the market? Do you find them enjoyable?" They all shared their thoughts, highlighting their passion for games as a fun form of entertainment that allows people to immerse themselves in exciting experiences.

However, when Ethan asked, "Do you think we've explored everything that video games can offer?" they hesitated. The ever-evolving nature of the gaming industry made them contemplate the uncharted potential.

As their thoughts swirled, the female member of the group expressed her belief that there was still untapped potential in video games. The other two shared slightly differing viewpoints, sparking a discussion about the industry's continuous evolution and the role of technology within it.

The final question carried significant weight: "If I told you that we could change the entire perception people have of games, would you believe me?" Ethan sought individuals who shared his vision and were eager to make a substantial impact on the gaming world.

The three of them exchanged looks, a mixture of bewilderment and enthusiasm. While they didn't fully comprehend Ethan's vision, the success of the two games he had created provided a glimpse. They shared the aspiration to be part of something transformative, to leave a lasting mark on the gaming industry and make it better.

With a mutual agreement and a shared dream, Ethan rose from his seat and smiled. "Welcome to Forge Studios."

These words marked the commencement of a new era, one that would ultimately alter the very perception of games as a whole.

And it all began with these three individuals.

Chapter end.
