Chapter 5: The Grind

[March 5th, 2004]

The gentle, rhythmic pitter-patter of raindrops against my apartment window filled the room with a soothing, almost mesmerizing ambiance. I'd been utterly engrossed in the development of FNAF for several weeks. The game had become my all-consuming obsession, demanding countless hours of unwavering dedication.

The result, however, had been worth every ounce of effort. My frequent excursions into the Gamescape allowed me to delve deeper into the game's lore, providing me with a more profound understanding of its intricacies. I was now weaving the wild theories from my original world seamlessly into its narrative.

I also tackled the task of elevating the game's graphics and quality. The transformation was nothing short of remarkable but It did make It feel more like Sister Location. While the core mechanics and layout remained true, the office setting had taken on a profoundly eerie and sinister aura. It was as if I'd breathed life into something that defied conventional gaming—an exhilarating twist that made my work endlessly enjoyable.

"Damn it, I'm so exhausted and I haven't even had breakfest yet... b-but it's all part of the GRIND!" I said the last part albeit louder, when I suddenly heard the neighbour shout and hit the wall that was the only think seperating him from killing me.

I chuckled as quietly as I could.

Entering the Gamescape for the last time today, I jotted down crucial notes on how to advertise and boost the game's visibility. Despite having earned a tidy sum from Flappy Bird, I realized that saving up for future projects was the smart play.

FNAF didn't exactly skyrocket to popularity on its own; it was the realm of social media platforms that fueled its ascent. The journey commenced when scott had made enigmatic tweaks to his website, teasing the game and igniting the flames of curiosity among potential players. However, it's safe to say that without the Let's Play videos, FNAF might not have reached the level of popularity it achieved back then.

Although I can't say for sure that Let's Plays were the sole catalyst for its rise, there's no denying that it played a pivotal role, If not atleast 90% of it.

While the underlying premise of FNAF is undeniably intriguing, it is also unarguably complex. The narrative, one must admit, exhibits an intricate web of elements that often bewilders its dedicated players.

'My objective isn't to fix the plot but to present it in an open format, like scott did, since the theories are a big part of this game, it'd be good to make connections in between but not exactly tell them, giving leverage to the players so that they can theorise and use their imagination of possible scenarios of what could have happened... Until I either decide to reveal it by snippets, or change it from the original."

'I'll also need to find someone suitable, someone who can entertain people by being funny or having a unique personality. The platform doesn't have to be massive, but it should be sizable enough for word-of-mouth to work its magic and a bonus if they're easily spooked.' I thought with an evil smirk.

I briefly considered David but quickly brushed off the idea. He seemed like the kind who would charge into a zombie horde rather than approach them strategically, displaying a sort of false bravado.

"Though he'd still get spooked, I require individuals skilled at those dramatic reactions." I pondered, a nostalgic smile spreading across my face.

I couldn't help but recall the nostalgic memory of when I used to watch Let's Play videos on my phone, especially when Markiplier was the undisputed king of Let's Plays for games like these. It was a time when memes and theories like 'The Bite of '87?!?' came into existence. I couldn't help but burst into a hearty chuckle.

Exiting the Gamescape after finding the necessary information, I worked late into the night, applying the finishing touches to the game and then started working on my website.

This would serve as the platform for my future projects, an evolving space accompanying each game—a sacred ground for gamers and...

The birthplace of my company.
