Chapter 12- Return To The Plains Of Tranquility (Part 1)

Chapter 12- Return To The Plains Of Tranquility (Part 1)

Rena and Reo walked together until they reached her house before they said goodbye. Rena wanted to go with him, but it seemed she had some things she needed to do. Reo understood that Rena is a very busy person even though she always tries to stay with him as long as possible, which is something he felt grateful for.

He then left Rena's house and went to his apartment. After reaching there, he took a shower, ate a quick snack, and then put on the OGMA device and entered the game.

The next moment, he opened his eyes in the same place he logged out from yesterday. He took a look at his surroundings. There was no one there who was optimal for him.

"Now, let's see…" He opened his quests section to see what he did yesterday and what he needed to do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He focused on the time left for him to leave the Plains of Tranquility. From one glance, many would consider 46 hours as more than enough time to finish the quests and leave. But, Reo was not as optimistic about it as most other players are. First of all, he had no idea how he was going to find his way out, so that meant that he had to spend some time solely searching for a way out. Second of all, let's say he found the way out. He still needed to kill 6 Grade 1 monsters, 5 Grade 2 monsters, and one boss monster. That alone would take a long time to do.
However, as clueless as he was about how he was going to complete this quest, he could only smile slightly and whisper under his breath.
"This is so much fun. I never thought it would be this challenging."
Reo had always been a thrill-seeking boy who liked to face great challenges. That tendency of his almost cost him his life several times, but he still couldn't get rid of that thrill. The thrill of beating that challenge was just something he grew addicted to from the moment he was born. That was also the reason why he was very good at so many things.
Anyway, he closed the quest's window and walked toward the exit of the safe zone. The place was as quiet as usual. They did not name the Plains of Tranquility like that for no reason. The place was so quiet that a person could easily hear himself breathing loudly there.
Such a thing was very nerve-wracking for a normal person since it keeps them tense most of the time. Humans fear the unknown, after all.
As he walked for a few minutes, he finally heard something that wasn't his rhythmic breathing. It was the sound of a person groaning and the screech of a monster.
He looked in the direction of the sound and walked there casually. He wanted to see if the monster was a Grade 2 or maybe even a boss monster. As for the person who was fighting him, he couldn't care less about him.
When he reached the area where the fight was ensuing, he discovered that the monster was a normal Uruv that could be found anywhere. The monster was obviously a Grade 1 monster. He felt slightly disappointed, but still shook his head and focused on the person fighting it. It was a person he met before.
'That girl… I met her yesterday.' He thought as he squinted his eyes. She seemed to be struggling with the Uruv.
Now the question remained, should he just interrupt her or should he just let her deal with it alone and leave? What made him hesitate was her condition. She had cuts all over her boy that oozed blood endlessly. Her stamina was also almost depleted, which means that she could get killed at any moment.
But he decided to wait and see where this fight is going. He could help her now, but he wanted to see how the fight would end.
"She is most likely going to die. Escape is her only wait out of that." He muttered.
Meanwhile, the girl was barely keeping her ground against the Uruv. Her breathing was erratic and her arms were both motionless from the injuries she sustained. However, she didn't try to escape at all and instead rushed toward the Uruv like a fierce warrior. Her eyes glowed like two torches of fire as she jumped in the air and sent a kick.
The Uruv screeched and slashed with its claws. The mere contact alone could chop her leg off like a slice of butter.
Reo immediately thought that the fight was over and that the girl was definitely gonna lose. However, what she did next made him blink a few times in surprise.
A weird yellow light sparkled in her hands for a split second. Then…
*Swish*
The spark of what seemed to be lightning escaped her hand and attacked the monster from the side, cutting his hands off. It happened in less than a second, so even Reo could barely see it from the sidelines..
"WRAHHHH!!!" The Uruv screeched at the top of its lungs and fell down, crying in pain. The girl also landed on the ground safely and walked toward it.
After that, she looked at the dying monster with an emotionless look and stomped on its face, crushing its skull into small bits and pieces. Blood spilled all over her leg but she didn't care at all and merely sat down on the ground to recuperate.
Reo scratched his head and then muttered.
"Was that magic? I am sure that was some kind of spell. But how did she get it? Isn't that something that could only be found in the real game and not the tutorial? Come to think of it, the administrator didn't mention anything about spells or magic at all."
He tried to reason with himself and try to remember any crucial point he missed. But he couldn't remember anything noteworthy. So, he stood up and walked toward the girl.
He knew that the chances that she would tell him about it were very slim, but he at least wanted to try.
The moment the girl heard Reo's footsteps, she tried to stand up and ready herself.
"I am not here to fight. Relax." Reo said as he put his hands in front of him. He had no reason to kill the girl. His pride won't allow him to steal from an injured person.
The girl visually relaxed a bit when she saw Reo and immediately nodded her head silently.
The boy was weirded out by her immediate relaxation since he could be there to kill her and steal her items, or even worse. But, somehow, the girl had some trust in Reo. He wanted to ask her about that, but then shook his head and focused on his goal.
"Mmm, excuse me. I think we met yesterday, and you asked me to join your team, right?" He began.
The girl nodded again without uttering a single word.
"The last thing you did to kill that Uruv took my interest. I saw your fight and I am honestly interested in how you got that spell."
The girl looked down for a moment, seemingly in thought, before she looked up again and said.
"I will tell you… If you make a team with me." She said,
Reo didn't even wait a second before he shook his head and turned around to leave.
"No need, then. Forget that I asked. Have a good day."
