Deceitful Peace

The houses in Eden were built looking alike. They were built with dark red bricks. From afar, these houses looked like they came straight out of a fairytale with a happy ending.

They had slanted rooftops and each of them had an old chimney with a warm ribbon of smoke rising from it.

Some had decorated their front doors with little pots of plants, giving it a warm color, making the houses look alive.

Along the way, while passing through houses, Luca was grumbling about something. Tanya strained her ears to listen and she caught stuff like 'stupid bloodsuckers' and 'how could he get in here?'

And more of 'swimming in the lake?'

Tanya wondered who he was talking about.

Luca and Tanya walked towards a small house far away. Even though it resembled any other houses, this one looked rather old and rusty.
