The world was spinning and it felt like I was under water as I stared at the open gate. A hysterical sound escaped my lips and I undid my seatbelt as I watched the infected that milled around near the estate, in the estate. 

'My family... Daniel. Everyone was gone... How did this happen?'

The infected that had sighted us started to head toward the car and Faye cursed as she shifted the gear to reverse.

'No, they're not dead. They can't be.'

Someone had to have left the estate gate open. Which probably meant that one or more people were able to get away from the horde. Was my family able to get away too?

I jumped out of the car before it moved backward and heard Faye yelling something as I sprinted through the infected that lined the street towards the estate. I heard the car's engine but I didn't look back to see if Faye was driving forward or if she was leaving me here.
