6 The Golden Glow

"The birth of Octavius is a miracle and unexpected gift from the moon Goddess because, after years of waiting, a lot of us lost hope of having a pure royal to rule our kingdom after me. I want to thank you for your prayers and thank all the doctors, warlocks, witches, midwives, and maids who helped us to get Octavius. I'm afraid to inform you that our newborn prince is an omega and our queen can not get pregnant with another prince or princess again."

Silence...

And more of it was everything that was heard amongst people after hearing what their king announced.

The royals were still standing in the royal balcony waiting for any reaction from their people but the only reaction they got was silence.

"Your highness an omega can not be the king of our kingdom." One of the people who seemed to be an alpha decided to finally open his mouth to say his objection to crowning an omega as king.

Whisperers of people who were discussing the prince's rank with each other erupted in the place which turned into chaos because of different opinions.

The former king and queen glared at the queen whose eyes filled with tears because of people's reaction and also because of her in-laws' glares. She could feel how much they hated her and they both were blaming this chaos on her.

"Your majesty, we apologize, but we can't accept to be ruled by an omega." Said one of the women out of people, she is also an alpha.

"The Vredrivia kingdom was ruled by the Antias' for centuries and all the royals who ruled it were strong alphas. How can an omega who needs protection protect our kingdom, Your majesty?" The one who uttered this was the prime minister.

"The prime minister is right, his highness. How can you guarantee us that a weak omega can rule the entire kingdom alone? They can't even protect themselves with all due respect to all the omegas here, but the ruling is for alphas." The king was getting angry listening to all his people's complaints and what was making him madder is the fact that he disappointed them.

Tears slowly fell from the precious eyes of the queen who was lowering her head and holding in her arms the newborn prince who got rejected by almost everyone other than his mother on his very first day in this world.

Her highness was sitting on her bed inside her royal chamber with the king who was fuming in anger as he has been walking back and forth while listening to his parents talking "I told you twenty years ago to choose the princess of the Cait kingdom because she is an alpha but you refused and chose her. Now, look at the consequences of what you have chosen." Said the furious former queen scolding her son for choosing the current queen years ago.

This squeezed her highness' heart and hurt her more than anything, but all she has on her mind at this moment was protecting her prince from all these harsh words which is why she slowly raised her hand and gently covered the newborn's tiny ears.

"Mom, please it's not the right time for making me regret my life choices. I need to figure out what to do about this thing." The queen could not hide her sobs anymore when she heard her mate calling their baby a thing.

Her sobs did not make her in-laws feel any sympathy instead they just glared at her in disgust while the king went and sat on the couch looking at his father who uttered "What a shame. After centuries, our family only had strong alphas and now we are stuck with an omega."

The former queen was only mad at the king for choosing the queen but his father was obviously more disappointed than mad and this is what made the king feel useless and helpless.

Disappointing his father was his biggest fear. He hates seeing the disappointment in the former king's eyes.

The former king and queen soon left the chamber leaving the king alone with her majesty who was still crying silently and covering the prince's ears with her hands.

The sound of something getting thrown to the ground made the queen raise her gaze immediately just to find the small crown that was supposed to be placed on Octavius' head during the celebration of the birth of the crown prince, but now it was thrown to the ground by the king who was still sitting on the couch and mad at what happened today.

The queen wiped her tears away before she finally open her mouth to talk "Opeline, I'm sorry for what happened." The king chuckled in disbelief before he glances with frustration clear in his eyes " What should we do now? Huh? People won't accept that thing in your arms as the crown prince. Nobody will accept him. Chantal, I have done the biggest mistake in my entire life when I mated you."

Hearing her own mate whom she has been in love with for long years and spent a long time with him saying this, broke her heart into pieces "Why are you saying this? We loved each other, and I still do. I was doing all this for you and for your kingdom to have a crown prince. What is the problem if he is an omega, I don't understand."

"You don't understand, Chantal? An omega can never rule a kingdom. This is just how it works and it used to work in the past as well. Have you ever seen any omega ruling? No. If you can't give me an alpha to be the crown prince, I'll get it myself."

This was the last thing the king has said before he left the room.

The queen took a deep breath before moving her hand away from her baby's ears as she said while gently caressing his tiny head " Don't listen to any of what they said. I love you and accept you. I know you will be more than what they expect. I can feel it, here." Her majesty placed his little hand on her heart, in the end, showing him where she feels.

Her highness got up and walked towards the small crown that was thrown on the floor as she picked it up and made sure it was clean before carefully placing it on the prince's head.

A huge proud smile found its way to the queen's face while she was watching how beautiful Octavius looked with the crown on his head "You look so perfect my baby. I'm pretty sure you will be the best crown prince to ever exist. You will make your mom proud, right? No one can feel what I feel for you. I won't let anyone hurt you. I love you more than anything in this world and in any other world. "

When the queen said this, she was just trying to console herself and her baby because of the hurtful words they have received today.

Her highness smiled and held the newborn tighter in her arms as she kissed his forehead without noticing how the prince opened his eyes that glowed in golden shiny color and constantly that glow vanished before the queen can see it.
