Two Years Later

I opened my eyes and looked to my side. Xavier was sleeping peacefully beside me and a smile spread across my lips.

Xavier left the Mafia almost a year after we got married. He didn't feel like he was that person anymore, he couldn't see himself killing or taking lives anymore. And even though he tried to run that Mafia for good purposes for months without turning into his old self again, it wasn't possible. Not as efficiently.

A part of me was over the moon when he gave me the news back then. It gave me more proof that he had completely changed from when I had met him, and was ready to remain like that for the rest of our lives.

I don't know who he gave the Mafia business to, or what happened. One night, he just came back and said as softly as ever: "I'm leaving the Mafia."
