An Alpha Without A Mate.

"What?!" Ariel's voice was raised a bit, her eyes widened. She didn't hear her father clearly right now did she?.

"I said you're going to help the others with the preparation of the mating ceremony of your sister and Carter tomorrow" John Mills repeated his words again slowly and clearly to Ariel who seemed not to understand him when he said it for the first time.

"But father, that's not possible"

"Why isn't it possible?" John Mills' brow arched questionly to what his daughter just said to him, going back to writing some stuff down on the book placed on top of his desk.

"Because.. Because" Ariel tried speaking but couldn't help stuttering, what does she even plan to say?.

"I love Carter!" Ariel released the words choking her in the throat and not wanting to come out. John Mills dropped his pen hearing her say that.

He got up from his seat, walking over to Ariel who was quivering with fear already. Why wouldn't she fear when a creature as huge and muscular as a bear was standing in front of her.

Ariel felt like she was losing her breath as air in the room suddenly became hot and thicker for her to breathe in with the huge creature called her father in front of her.

He was so tall and huge, sending shivers down Ariel's spine. She felt like an ant standing in front of him. He could easily just squash her to death, she swallowed hard at the thought of that.

Avril watched from behind, a wicked smirk on her lips. He was definitely going to kill Ariel this time, Avril smiled deeply at the thought of that.

"What did I just hear you say right now?" He stood in front of Ariel, questioning her.

Ariel couldn't raise her head. She was too scared so her head bent, her gaze fixed firmly on her feets making sure she was avoiding his gaze.

"I….I.." Ariel stuttered trying hard to find her voice due to the fact she felt like she was losing it.

"I love Carter" How those words managed to escape out of her mouth she didn't exactly know, but Ariel was still glad she said it.

It was going to show him that she really meant what she told him. She closed her eyes expecting a slap to her face but what he did next stunned her.

"Okay"

Ariel popped her eyes open lifting her face to her father's. her grey eyes meeting his, did she just hear him say okay?. Maybe she heard him wrongly.

"Did Carter's wolf accept you?" He asked, Ariel put her face back down instantly, she didn't realize when she raised her face to his.

Her heart was pounding heavily. She could hear it best rapidly as if it was going to rip apart due to internal pressure.

"No father" She answered bitterly, she knew where this interrogation was leading to.

"Did he mark you as a mate??" He pressed on.

"No father"

"Did he say he loved you?"

Ariel paused, tears streaming down her chubby cheeks already. Her memories drove her back to the day she caught Carter banging Avril.

"Answer me!!" Her father roared aggressively, demanding an answer from her pulling her out of her memories back to reality.

And reality sucks!.

"No father" Ariel sniffed, wiping the stubborn tears rolling down on their own freewill.

"Like I said earlier, you will go over to Carter's pack house and help with the mating ceremony of your sister and Carter, now do I make myself clear?"

"Yes father"

"Good, now leave"

"Yes father" With those last words, Ariel started heading slowly over to the door, Avril was standing there holding the door open for her.

Her eyes caught with Avril's, she had that wicked grin on her face. Ariel paused, staring eyeball to eyeball with tears-filled eyes at Avril.

"You're going to pay for everything Avril, I will make sure of it"

"We'll see about that" Avril pushed Ariel out of the room, locking the door in a flash.

Liam McLain walked swiftly towards the nightstand placed beside the head side of his king sized bed. He drew the cabinets open in search of a necklace.

Beads of hot sweats were visible on his forehead. His hands raked through the cabinets thoroughly, still he couldn't find the necklace. He was greatly troubled.

Liam shut the cabinet closed, moving towards his bed. His hands went over to the blankets and pillows, flicking them with excessive force.

He slid his hands into the pockets of the tuxedo he put on but he still couldn't find the necklace. Liam sat on the floor of his room leaning on the body of the bed, his hands raked through his hairs out of frustration.

How could he lose his Tiara's necklace so carelessly?. He had always carried it along with him wherever he went so how could he lose it today?. How was he going to live without his mate's necklace?.

That necklace was the only piece of Tiara's jewelry he still had before she died of an attack from rogue werewolves. He bought it for her as a gift and now he lost it.

Her necklace was so precious to him that made him carry it along with him anywhere he went. Tiara's necklace has helped kept sweet memories of her alive in him and now it was gone.

How was he going to live?. It has been exactly a year since Tiara died but Liam still felt her living inside of him.

He still felt their bond and memories intact though she had died, his parents had tried everything to get rid of Tiara's memories and find him another mate but that was impossible.

Liam could never forget about Tiara in just a year. Never!, That was never going to happen. He had known Tiara since they were little and lucky enough for him, the moon goddess gifted her his mate.

He let out an ear-piercing grieved screech, letting the tears roll freely down his cheeks on its own while clutching his heart. The pain was too much for him to take in.

An alpha without a mate, that was too much for him to bear. How was he going to lead his pack without his Luna by his side?. How was he going to carry all those responsibilities all on his own. He felt so weak without his Tiara.

Liam got up from the floor, walking limply towards the short wooden centre table centered in his room. He settled his butt on a one seat leathered white sofa beside the centre table, taking a picture frame from the table into his hands.

He let out a soft chuckle staring at the image in the picture frame. It was an image of him and Tiara, he carried her in his arms in a bridal carry.

"My T-I-A-RA" He called her out name softly and slowly. His hands touched her image in the picture frame. Hot tears streamed down his petty cheeks.

Liam placed the picture frame back onto the centre table. He got up, his hands grabbing his head as he let out a scream.

"Aaaah!!!"

Flora McLain who was passing through the passageway heard screams in her son's room. She quickly kicked the door open, entering the room like an angry mother hen checking out for any harm toward her chicks.

"Liam!" She yelled his name, running over to Liam laying on the floor helplessly. She sat on the floor, cupping his face into her arms hugging him.

"Mom, it hurts" Liam mumbled almost inaudibly leaning on his mother's body, his swollen red eyes slightly closed while his nose was running.

"I know baby, I am so sorry for that" She wiped the tears off with her palm.

"Why does it hurt like this mom?" He asked, sniffing loosely.

"It's all because of Tiara, baby you need to forget about her" She continued wiping the tears off.

"But I can't, I love her so much"

"I know you do baby but it's time to let go, okay?".

"I lost her necklace mom, what am I going to do?"

"How could you lose her necklace when you know it's so precious to you?"

"I always carry it along with me but I bumped into some-" Liam told Flora, but stopped immediately he felt like he recalled something.

He got up from his mom's arms with speed, wiping the tears off his face and nose. He left the room instantaneously before his mom could finish her sentence.

"Liam, wait-" Flora tried calling him but he had zoomed off. She got off the floor letting out a deep breath, shaking her head slowly with grieve. She was really worried about Liam.

Her son was an alpha without a mate and it was killing him inside. He needed to find a mate as soon as possible. Or what would the rest of the pack see him as?How was he going to lead the pack without his Luna by his side?.

An alpha who cries in the arms of his mother, he was supposed to be a strong Alpha and mighty leader for his pack and not a cry baby. Still on that thought she left his room locking it as she left.
