Uncle Cat Wants You

Mornings came early for some people in Polaris.

Ramus was one of them. In fact, it seemed that morning was always around for the young man since sleeping wasn't easy.

He had to watch his sickly younger sister cry her nights away, calling the name of their parents. And him? Whenever his eyes closed, he would dream of the sight and shoot upright in surprise.

It had already been a few weeks since they had come to Polaris, yet the pain and grief of their parent's death never seemed to lessen.

That morning too, the family living in the next apartment over knocked on their doors.

"Hey, are you two doing good? Have breakfast yet?"

Ramus smiled at the bearded man. This neighbor of his had luckily escaped with both his children who were still just ten.

The man wrapped his hand around Ramus and pulled him along. "Come with me, we'll bring our rations here."
