Misty was having a terrible day as she failed to catch a single fish pokémon. As the heir of the Cerulean City Gym, which specialized in water-type pokémon and an aspiring water-type pokémon master herself, it was quite the disgraceful feeling she felt.

If her sisters were to learn about it, they would never let a day go by without teasing her for her terrible fishing techniques.

Thinking about her sisters, Misty couldn't help but let out a sigh of frustration. 'Only if they were like me.' She thought to herself as her childhood memories with her sisters appeared in her mind.

They weren't the most pleasant memories of her childhood. And unlike their father, the three elder sisters didn't want to become a pokémon trainer, neither did they want to become the next gym leader at the Cerulean City Gym.

But even if this was the case, Misty didn't really blame her sisters, as she still had a soft spot for her sisters. But things went south when they even refused to let Misty take over the position of the next gym leader, saying that she was weak and immature.

Initially, Misty believed them as she was indeed a few years younger, even when compared to the youngest of her three sisters.

But not after she overheard them talking to a contractor, about turning the Cerulean City Gym into a water circus, to fulfil their dream of performing water shows for the world. It was the last straw for Misty as she, consumed by her anger and grief, decided to leave her home once and for all.

"I will show them that I can be the best water-type pokémon trainer." Misty muttered to herself as she prepares to cast away the bait once again into the river after another failure. But she would be lying if she said she didn't regret leaving her home even a bit.

Just as she was hoping to finally catch a bait, a golden shine emitting from the river caught her attention. Initially, Misty dismissed it as the reflection of the drowning sun, but suddenly, she realised that the sun was in the opposite direction.

Misty immediately raised her head and gazed at the horizon, and indeed, there was no sun. Once again, the golden shine caught her attention. The longer she looked at the golden shine, the more bubbly feeling her heart felt.

'Could the reason for my earlier bad luck was for this lucky opportunity. Or maybe, the world finally realised my talent and finally decided to reward me.' Such thoughts started floating in her head as she prepared to grab the treasure. But there was only one problem.

"The only way to grab it is by swimming there myself, but the water current are too fast for me." Just as Misty was about to shout in frustration, a figure flashed next to her. It was so sudden that Misty would have never noticed it so quick if it were any other time.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, she caught the appearance of the figure out of the corner of her eyes. A young boy with short auburn hair, in nothing but swimming trunks, revealing his chiselled figure, which was a rare occurrence among kids his age.

'H-he is...' A thought occurred with her mind as the moment, seemingly engraved itself within her heart, not because she felt she was in love at first sight. No, definitely not, not a chance, never. But because she realised something after the sound of something or someone splashing into the water.

"Hey, kid! That is MY treasure. I saw it first." Misty shouted at the boy with the loudest voice she could muster. But the voice fell on deaf ears, as the boy continued swimming at a speed and grace unfeasible for someone his age. But Misty, in her rage and misery, seeing 'her' treasure being stolen right in front of her eyes, failed to notice this. Something which even she couldn't accomplish was being done by a boy, few years younger than her, right in front of her eyes.

But suddenly, the figure of the boy, who was swimming on the surface of the raging water currents, disappeared into the water. Misty, who was about to continue shouting at the boy, stopped after seeing this. A dangerous thought filled her mind, as she felt a sense of crisis.

"No-no, I can't just continue standing, I need to save him." Without a moment of hesitation or consideration, Misty quickly took off her clothes, leaving her in nothing but her underwear. Fortunately, it was athletic and not an ordinary one.

But before she could take more than a few steps, a figure rose through the water currents. It was the same boy who was about to steal her treasure. But instead of sighing in relief, Misty's eyes widened at what she saw, and her brain failed to comprehend what her eyes sent it.

"Th-that..." Misty's tongue stuttered, and her pupils trembled as she shakily pointed her finger at what was in the boy's hands. While her brain was busy comprehending the situation, the boy arrived near the river bank. As for how he swam with both his hands occupied? Only Arceus could possibly answer it.

"Haha! I never expected to find a Shiny Magikarp, at least, not in some river on Route 1." The boy said to himself with a chuckle as he got out of the river. His words seemingly brought Misty out of her reverie.

But in the next moment, she fell to her knees as she started questioning her existence in a dazed state, "Did I just lost the chance to get a golden Magikarp to some random brat?"

But once again, Misty was broken out of her thoughts by the boy's words. "Hey, girl! I am not just a random wannabe brat. I am the Greatest, the God, the only G.O.A.T. in this world. Gary is my name and Professor Oak is my Grandpa." The boy said with confidence and awesomeness oozing out of his every word.

Contrary to the boy's expectations, Misty one again fell in a deep contemplation regarding the meaning of life and started muttering in a monotone voice. "And that random brat is a fucking narcissist, egoistical, self-centred, conceited, vain, self-absorbed and entitled with a similarly fucking rich and famous grandfather."

The boy's lips couldn't help but twitch in annoyance. He retorted immediately, saying, "Oi, oi, girl. Why are these the only thing you picked up from my great introduction."

Misty, upon being distracted by the boy's words once again, shouted at him in grief and anger, "Can't you even let me grieve in peace after stealing MY golden Magikarp right in front of my eyes. Mr. Goat."

"Oi, oi. It's Mr. G-O-A-T and not Mr. Goat." The boy quickly corrected her as if he felt insulted at her way of pronunciation.

"What's the difference?" Misty asked him in confusion, momentarily forgetting her grief and sorrow.

"Look, there's a huge difference between the two," The boy was about to give a huge monologue on the difference between the two words, but he stopped himself and sighed. "Just forget it. Anyway, my name is Gary Oak. Nice to meet you."

He said as he extended his right hand for a handshake while holding the golden fish pokémon, worth a dozen kilos, with his left hand.

Misty hesitatingly got onto her feet as she went for the handshake while introducing herself, "I-i a-am Misty Williams. Nice to me-." Her eyes slowly fell on the shining Magikarp as tears welled in her eyes. She shouted, "Fuck you." As tears started pouring out of her eyes.

Gary sighed as his mouth couldn't help but mutter, "Hey, that's illegal, you know. I am still ten. Don't blame me if Officer Jenny throws you into jail."

But his words only made the girl in front of him cry even more. Gary smiled wryly as he finally relented and said, "Okay, fine. How about I catch a Magikarp for you and, in return, can you please stop crying? After all, it doesn't suit a cute girl like you."

Misty abruptly stopped crying as she looked at him with an unsure gaze. After a few seconds, she asked softly, "Really?" His complements were directly ignored by her brain.

"Yes, pinkie promise." Gary sighed in relief and immediately replied, "Just wait for a few minutes." He quickly rushed towards his clothes and belongings that he left earlier, along with his bike. He picked up an empty pokéball, and tapped it on the shiny Magikarp. It got sucked into the pokéball as it let out a successful beep.

Gary turned around with a giddy happiness etched on his face, only to find the girl about to cry again while looking at his pokéball. "Oh shit!" He muttered as he jumped into the river without hesitation.

Misty let out a soft yelp of surprise seeing him jump into the river so carelessly. She couldn't help but utter, "He isn't so bad after all."

But then her thoughts shifted to her earlier conversation with him. Her mind automatically added another sentence, 'But he is definitely narcissist and rich.'

<A/N:> Just to make it clear, there is no romance or harem in this novel. At least, I haven't decided yet. All the characters that I would be introducing may or may not be exactly similar to their original counterparts.

As for villains, there are none except the original ones. And they aren't evil, just villains. They are after power and world domination, but I wouldn't make them kill hundreds of innocents just to make them set in their villainous roles.

This is a Pokémon fan fiction and I would like it as that. I would make things as light-hearted as they can be with no tragedies, as I hate them. It doesn't mean there would be no setbacks, but just not tragedies. There is a clear line between the two.
