Chapter 8: Daily life & Installment

As I was slowly waking up from my deep sleep, the first thing I said was "Good morning Zach, Tom, and Lucas. Did you all have a nice sleep?" Waiting for a response I still had my eyes closed in bed while staying warm and comfortable.

After about 5 minutes passed and there was no response my eyes shot open. Opening my eyes I saw that I wasn't in the room I was expecting, then yesterday's events hit me in a flash.

"Oh right, I'm alone now. I kind of thought that it would all be a dream since almost every weeb has had a thought similar to this." Xander said as he was preparing to get out of bed.

Before I got out of bed I had to make sure I stretched out, I made sure to have a big and loud groan with the stretch. "You can rarely have a good stretch if you don't have an amazing groan with it. If you just stretch without it then it won't feel the same," I thought to myself out loud.

Getting out of bed I continued to think to myself out loud saying " I should probably order the Neural Nano-Interface which I will need for the immersive mmorpgs I will want to try. I also will have to go to a market store for some food supplies."

It was 8 a.m. when I finally got out of bed. I decided that I should go and order the Neural Nano-Interface that I will need for the immersive MMORPGs since I will need it as soon as possible, so I made sure to buy it first and have it on the fastest delivery time. It would arrive later today around 6 p.m which would give me enough time to go out and get the daily necessities.

Walking down the stairs on the kitchen counter I saw that there was a note on top of it, the note said "I forgot that you probably won't have a phone, or know your way around. Sorry about that, but anyway here's a phone so you can use the maps and know your way around."

Underneath the note was a phone, the phone was in a purple case to prevent it from breaking. Picking up the phone I was going to swipe it open and see if there was any type of passcode or if I had to set one up. Before I could swipe open the phone it opened automatically and said "Face recognized."

Seeing it open automatically ended up surprising me. Yes, in my previous world, some phones would use face recognition, but it was in its early stages and it wasn't constantly proficient.

After getting used to the phone I decided that it was time to go and get food supplies since it was about 9:30 now.

The bigger marketplace was about a 15-minute walk away from my house, so I wanted to walk there quickly and get back home since I didn't wanna be out for too long.

Arriving home from getting his necessities, the first thing that Xander did was take off his shoes and then put on his slippers, then what he did was put everything in the places that were needed, So the food that needed to be in the fridge went into it, and things like chips, bread, or canned goods went into the pantry.

By the time he was done putting everything up, it was almost 1 pm, and the specific time was 12:54. Being done and after looking at the time he decided it was time to just plop onto the couch and be lazy for a bit.

As he plopped onto the couch for some nice rest he decided to turn on the TV to see if anything was interesting, but unfortunately, it seemed as if luck was not on his side for this day, since there was nothing that he could consider interesting for entertainment for himself.

Seeing that time was passing at a snail's pace he decided to go upstairs and go on his computer to learn more about MMORPGs, see if he could learn more things about the human body, or ways for different body treatments, and see if he could order a few things.

Arriving in front of his new computer he sat down in his comfortable blue chair and decided that he would look into the health departments and see how much farther hospitals are in the year 2137 compared to his old year 2018

To Xander's surprise when he started to research it he learned that there was a way to do surgery and that you could learn everything about the human body online in the virtual world. You get specific ailments and try to treat them in this VR simulator which can have a similar outcome to the real world.

Learning this Xander jumped up and out of his chair in excitement thinking maybe there would have been a way to treat him before his death. He also thought that this would make it way easier to learn how to control and use the operation fruit.

As Xander started to sit back down in his chair the first thing he did was put his hand over his heart and told himself that he had to start calming himself down first. He continued to research to see if there was any kind of breakthrough in curing some of the incurable diseases his old world used to have.

After researching for about three hours he discovered that most if not all the incurable diseases his old world had were now curable, but the more time that passes the more diseases appear.

Seeing that all of the old incurable diseases were just replaced with new ones left Xander in a state of shock he thought that if there was this kind of technology there wouldn't be nearly as many diseases in the world.

After learning all of this he decided that he should probably order the thing he wanted before he forgot to do it, after ordering the thing he wanted he thought to himself "I don't need these things, but want these so that I never forget."

(Time skip, Xander pov)

It was about two and a half hours after I was done shopping and researching which was at 3:24 pm. It is now 5:54 pm and I am expecting to hear a door knock in a few minutes, so I decided that I would just sit in the living room and watch something random waiting for people to come install the Neural Nano-Interface.

After about 15 minutes of waiting in the living room, I finally heard a knock on the front door. The knock wasn't a hard and loud one, it sounded more like the sound of a fish tank filter that makes some bubbles as it spins around. You can hear it, but with enough practice, you can just ignore the sound.

Approaching the door and opening it I saw the same old man that helped me get home, he was shorter than me. If I had to guess, he was about 5 '6, or 167 cm. He has gray swept-back hair and if you look closely you can see some strands of what used to be black hair.

When I opened the door the first thing he did was bow down slightly and he said" Hello I am Nakamura Akira, I am here to do the installment you ordered."

As he looked up at me his eyes flashed in recognition and then he said "Oh I'm glad to see that you are still doing okay." then gave me a big smile after he was done.

"Ah, yes thank you for helping me yesterday sir. Would you like me to show you the room in which you will be installing the Neural Nano-Interface?" I said with a slight embarrassment on my face not expecting that this man would be the one who does the installment.

As he nodded his head I motioned him to follow me, behind him were three other people and they followed after him. Before they stepped into the actual house they put on some kind of seal on their shoes so that they wouldn't attract dirt, and then they decided to put the Neural Nano-Interface right next to where the shoe cupboard was.

After showing them where it was supposed to be they got to work immediately, two of the three men picked up the Neural Nano-Interface and started to bring it upstairs.

They finished the installment of the Neural Nano-Interface fast, it only took about 35 minutes for them to finish everything that they needed to.

I decided to see them off and thank the old man for his help once more just so that he knows I genuinely thank him for his kindness.

As I saw their backs slowly disappearing into the distance I suddenly remembered one thing that may be a flaw. Thinking about this I started to question myself on how in the world I could forget about it.

Panicking, I started touching the back of my neck and then I ended up with a relieved sigh. The thing I was worried about was the neural port since you can't use the Neural Nano-Interface without one.

"I'm so glad that the goddess didn't forget to give this to me, or else I would have to go to the hospital to see if I could get one. Although I talked to the old man and relied on him, the only reason is that I knew if he had any bad intentions I could take him on fairly easily," Xander said out loud unknowingly, but luckily he was in his home so no one could hear what he said.

"Although I can kind of trust that old man I would still rather not fully believe in him," Xander said as he started to go upstairs.

As I went up the stairs I sat in the Neural Nano-Interface, took a deep breath, and decided that I should test it.
