Chapter 2: Having Fun

It was a Monday, seven years after that day. The morning began like every other one. It was a cold and snowy winter.

It was unusual since, in Texas, we don't get days like this often. Throughout these 15 years, we have only had five days like this. It was more common to have stupidly hot days, and I'm not the best with hot days since I struggle to get colder.

While I was in bed, I said. "Yeah, days like these are the best. If you have clothes or a blanket for a cold day, you can always put more on to get warmer, but if it's hot, you can seldom take off enough to get colder."

After about five more minutes of laying underneath my soft and cozy blankets, I decided it was time to get out of bed. When I decided to get out of bed. It was a struggle since the day was such a nice one. If anyone ended up watching me get out of bed, they would think of a sloth climbing a tree.

After stepping out of my warm bed, I looked like a panda trying to get out of bed and walk around.

"Xander, do we have to get up now? Why can't we stay in bed and enjoy this time? It's not like we get cold days like these often." Lucas said to me with a pouting voice.

"Yeah, days like this are the best. I think we have laid down too much. We should start with our day now. After all, it's almost 10 am now," Zach answered as I got off my bed and looked out the window.

Outside the window, all you could see was pure white with the contrast of the glossy black lamp, with the slightly orange light reflecting off the snow.

If you look down the road, green trees are swaying with the morning breeze. All the rooftops of cars and houses in sight are a snowy white with only a few dents in the snow, which I would guess is from animals running around.

After staring out the window, I decided to go and brush my teeth then head downstairs to go see what my mom was doing on this cold day.

My teeth flashed since I was in a daze, thinking about what to do today to pass the time while listening to the opinions of Zach and Tom. Going downstairs to find my mother, I looked around.

Inside the house was my mother relaxing by our fireplace, the red bricks from the fireplace, and the pleasant orange flames you see with the occasional blue or yellow.

She was underneath a blanket while sipping what looked like hot cocoa in her hands with a Christmas movie playing. She said nothing, saw me standing on the stairs, and gave me a benevolent smile.

Mother didn't have to go to work today since it snowed badly. She informed everyone they had a day off since the roads were poor. It was a rare occasion since, typically around this time, she would be at work and not get home until nightfall. In

Texas, since it doesn't get cold or snow often, cars don't typically have good tires for snow or ice.

I ended up joining and watching the rest of the movie with her. After watching a few more movies, we had breakfast. It was nothing fancy since it was only French toast with some sausage on the side.

While eating, my thoughts were noisy. A few months ago, I made a real friend, and we decided to meet today. It probably wasn't the best idea to go out today because of the weather, but there was nothing we could do about it.

This friend's name is Carlos, he is a weird person. One day, he randomly came to me during summer while I was glancing around at books in the library. Even when I tried to ignore him, he kept bothering me until I finally talked to him.

After a while, I thought that he could be an okay friend for Lucas since he has always been talking about having a real friend.

Carlos was a tan man with spiky brown hair and brown eyes who looked like he was 15 or 16 years old. He wasn't an obese man. He was a bigger man, but he wasn't quite fit either. It seems like he had a rambunctious personality.

Today, we are going to a movie theater to watch a new comedy movie, "Hey Lucas, I know you're excited, but won't you calm down for a bit? There are still a few hours until the movie," Zach said, getting annoyed by his excitement.

"What do you mean, Zach? How on earth can I be calm? This is the first time we will ever go out with a friend."

"But you've been like this ever since we got out of bed, and it's been over four hours, and you haven't said anything besides that. I understand being excited, but isn't this over-excitement?" Tom said in place of the annoyed Zach.

While listening to all of this, Xander finished his breakfast with a neutral face. Xander didn't feel much about this event. If anything, Lucas's excitement just amused him.

The Three of them, Xander, Zach, and Tom, didn't mind being alone. It was only Lucas who was going crazy about talking to other people. Lucas has something like a social tic. He has to interact with someone for his sanity. Before leaving, to go back to his room, Emilia (His mother) asked, "Are you guys excited for today?"

"Well. Zach and Tom are kind of interested in the movie but not excited to socialize. However, if you ask Lucas, he is ecstatic to meet up with Carlos. He has been talkative ever since we woke up," That sure does sound like something he would do." Mother said with a knowing look.

Throughout the years, she has interacted with all four of my personalities. She loves all of my personalities and treats everyone like they are her sons.

Even though I am typically the one in control most of the time. For some unknown reason, I've always had good control of who is in control of the movement at the time.

It was later in the afternoon when we went to meet up with Carlos. Lucas was humming in my head while the other two were just listening to Lucas's tone-deaf humming, and I was just ignoring him like usual.

I feel like I'm gifted now that I can ignore Lucas anytime I want to since he is incredibly tone-deaf but doesn't believe it. I would rather sit in a room with someone scratching a chalkboard than listen to Lucas's horrifying humming. He is the exact opposite of snow white, and instead of attracting animals, they would all run away with all their might.

Xander was walking stiffly to meet Carlos. It's not like he meant to be stiff, but before he left, Emilia wrapped him up like a newborn baby.

To make sure he didn't get sick, he was covered in countless layers of clothes to the point that even though he could feel the cold wind on his face he couldn't tell that it was an abnormally cold snowy day.

As Xander was walking on the snow, he looked around him and saw that the snow that was once slick and shiny was now dull and full of divots in the ground from walking or the car tracks on the street. He even saw some snowmen, snowwomen, and even some snow walls that looked like people had a snowball war.

Stopping to see what seemed to be a snowball war Xander thought to himself how fun it would be to have been able to play in the past if he had any friends.

Then he thought about how after the snowball wars his mother would probably make him drown in a sea of blankets and have him warm up as much as possible. Shaking off this thought, Xander continued to walk on the dull white snow.

After walking for a few minutes, he finally got to the park when he saw Carlos waving and waiting for him.

Before he walked up to Carlos, he swapped with Lucas. Even though Xander could communicate with Carlos, he didn't want to and knew Lucas would love to greet and interact with his "new" friend.

While Lucas and Carlos were walking to the movie theater, Xander, Zach, and Tom were spectating this interaction with a happy smile on their faces, knowing that Lucas had always wanted this kind of interaction.

While watching the movie, the three could feel the happiness that Lucas felt. While Lucas loved his other brothers, he still needed other people to talk to, but the other three were fine, with just each other and not having any type of social life.

While knowing this, they thought that this was one day, that he would never forget and hoped that he could continue to have days like this.

After the movie, Lucas and Carlos decided to go to the park before breaking up and going their different ways. At the park, Lucas and Carlos were still talking about the movie since the walk wasn't long.

After finishing the talk, Lucas said, "Okay, well then, I'll see you later, Carlos," as he walked away.

"Yeah, don't trip on your way home, or you may become a funny snowman," Carlos replied, smirking at Lucas's waddling back as he turned away.
