Chapter 13: Early Access

*Beep, Beep, Beep* I could hear alarms blaring at me, when I first heard it I thought that it was an intruder alarm, but upon me standing up and looking around I saw a clock that was making all that noise.

After realizing that it was the alarm I set up to wake me up I calmed down, and the second I calmed down my vision got all blurry and it seemed as if the world was spinning.

Stumbling around for a moment I ended up sitting back down on my bed. When I sat down I started to run through my thoughts to see what was wrong with me currently.

It only took me about 30 seconds to think of what the problem was, and it was just the fact that I went from lying down in bed to standing up almost instantly.

"This sucks, I wouldn't have had to set that stupidly loud alarm if I didn't go to sleep so late. I still can't believe that it was 6:27 am when I went to sleep, now that I think about that it was stupid."

After telling myself that I had a very stupid idea, I collected myself then got up off my bed again and stood still for a second to make sure I didn't get dizzy or lightheaded again.

When I didn't get any type of lightheadedness or dizziness I was going to go downstairs to get a quick breakfast before the testing phase of YGGDRASIL.

Before leaving my room I looked at the clock once more since I wasn't able to see what time it said before when I was dizzy and lightheaded. The clock said that it was 9:47 am which meant that I was only dizzy and lightheaded for 2 minutes.

I knew that it had been ten minutes since my alarm was set for 9:45.

Since it was almost 10 am I decided that breakfast would be something easy to make and fast. When I reached my kitchen I looked through the cabinets and saw that there were a few things that could be done relatively fast, but I decided that I should go simple and just go for cereal.

It only took a total of 7 minutes for me to make myself a bowl of cereal and then finish it. After finishing my breakfast I still had about 30 minutes until I could even get into the game, so to pass the time I walked over and picked up my guitar.

Even though I didn't spend all that much time playing the guitar and violin I was still really good at both of them thanks to my quick learning ability, the same thing goes for drawing.

It was now 10:18 am, and I still had 7 minutes until the game came out. I decided that I should just go upstairs and stay in the cottage until it was 10:25 am.

As I was going up the stairs, I remembered that I forgot to wash my bowl so I had to go back down and finish it quickly then run back upstairs so that I could catch the launch of the game.

Rushing back down I saw that the bowl was just sitting there on the kitchen counter as if it was just taunting me saying that it was still there.

The worst part about it was that the bowl was shiny white and the living room curtains were open currently so the sun was shining off of it just making it more visible.

Getting to the kitchen I swiftly picked up the bowl and washed it as fast as I could. After washing the bowl and putting it on a drying rack I started to run back upstairs.

Since I was used to walking up these stairs I could skip every two or three steps making my accent up quick. Getting up all the stairs I turned around and looked down to make sure I didn't forget to put up my guitar.

Seeing that it was in its case I let out a sigh of relief that I did and didn't have to go back down to put it up. Although it would be fine to leave the bowl out and not wash it for a bit, I just feel better if I don't let dishes pile up.

The same thing goes for my guitar, I could leave it out of the case and just put it up later it just feels better to know that it is in a safe place.

After arriving in my room I went and got on the Neural Nano-Interface and went into the virtual world almost instantly. When I entered the virtual world I was outside of my cottage on a bench that I placed outside after a bit more customization.

Pulling up the time from the screen that appeared in front of me I saw that it was only 10:22 am and still had 3 minutes before the game's official early release.

Seeing that there were only three minutes until launch I decided that I would just wait in front of the board so that when it was ready I could instantly log in.

Going inside the cottage I grabbed a small chair and dragged it over to be right in front of the board. As I put the chair in front of the board I sat down and just stared at the time ticking by.

Since I was just staring at the time ticking by, it felt like time was going by so stupidly slowly, it felt like a snail took over the speed of the world. As I was waiting for the time to tick by I decided instead of staring at the clock I would close my eyes and think about what class and race I would want.

Although I don't remember all the races that were in Overlord I still remember some like there were the obvious humans, elves, and dwarves in the humanoid category.

Then in the demi-human category, there were mermaids/mermans, centars, lizardmen, and beastfolks. Finally, in the heteromorphic category, there were such things as slims, skeletons, zombies, and Insectoids.

Though if I'm being honest the human, and demi-human races didn't attract my attention. The only demi-human race that caught my attention was the beastfolks and if we are being honest almost no one can resist seeing/being a cat, wolf, or fox demi-human.

The reason Heteromorphs caught my eye more so than any other race is mainly because of how broken some of them can be in the new world.

For if I went for an insectoid I could make an army of insects and if they could stand on two legs and get in a fight then I could teach them martial arts.

After thinking about all of this I opened my eyes and the time said 10:27 am, I said out loud "This is stupid why on earth does time move so slow when I'm paying attention to it, but once I'm not it flies by like the speed of sound."

Shaking my head to get out of this thought I immediately clicked the play button and went through the same black flash that passed by me in a flash.

When I arrived at the game I looked around and saw that this place looked like we were standing on a peaceful and tranquil lake that had almost no ripples on the surface, and it was only me on this lovely lake.

I looked down at my body and noticed that my current appearance was the same black avatar from the combat game. When I looked at my feet I noticed that the only ripples on this lake were below my feet, and soon enough when other people started to appear some ripples appeared below them.

After what seemed to be a few minutes hundreds of people popped up on this lake and a screen popped up showing the different races that you could pick.

Soon after the screen popped up people's forms slowly changed then after a minute or two they disappeared. Everyone has picked a human race, and I heard some close to me saying " There is no way in the world that anyone would pick the heteromorphic race, after all, most if not all are super ugly."

Hearing this I thought that it wouldn't be too much longer until the constant hunt for heteromorphic races to be hunted down constantly.

Thankfully most if not all of the hundreds of people that spawned went into the game relatively fast, they mainly picked the human, elf, and beastfolk race.

There were a few who picked dwarves and other humanoid/ demi-human races, but there were none who picked a heteromorphic race.

When I noticed that there were no people there I scrolled down to the heteromorphic races then I hovered over the insectoid.
