While I was gone I watched season 4 of overlord and I must say although the studio did a wonderful job with the animation, art and voice acting as always I'm pissed that they had to cut so much content out, I mean I fully understand that trying to cramp 3 volumes into 13 episodes is pretty much impossible but the progression of events felt so darn fast and almost illogical, it made the character's decisions feel impulsive and more like whims.

So in short my only problem with overlord season 4 is that there aren't enough episodes to do the source material justice.

The difference between Joseph's old and new status was quite Jarring. Although a large amount of the skills he had acquired were passive in nature they were still extremely powerful, The most powerful one was probably the [n%I=W] skill which if the same as the one from "Kumo desu ga, Nani ka ?", would allow him to fully recover from any injuries after leveling up which would absolutely broken as it would allow him to continuously bulldoze through large swathes of enemies.

Even though the other skills weren't all as powerful as the [n%I=W] skill, they were still all very good. Too good infact.

'Either the other race's racial skills are also powerful or this species has exceptional skills for some reason currently unknown to me.'

'The former option is more likely and if it is the latter which is true it could become problematic as more and more people might start using Taratect spider monsters as their chosen species, creating an imbalance that might cause a nerf in the future.'

'Well from what I know about Yggdrasil, everything is balanced so who knows, this might become like a rare species only a few can have or something.'

As Joseph was lost in thought while looking at his status page he realized something, he had maxed the [Poison Taratect] class yet he still had two racial jobs available.

Expanding the available racial job options he found a new racial job besides [Greater Taratect].

[Zoa Ele]

Once he put his last level into it his appearance changed, His two front legs morphed into two sharp scythe like limbs and his appearance became far more menacing as his body turned pitch black with a white skull appearing on his back.

His status changed like the following.

As he had invested a single level he was only allowed to choose 3 skills from the ones available to [Zoa Ele], Seeing the available options he didn't have to think at all before choosing the three skills [Perseverance] • [Heresy Attack] and [Rot Attack].

'I'm so broken now, what the actual fuck.'

With that revelation Joseph decided to get back to testing, first he used [Rot Attack] on a random toad he found, The toad instantly turned to dust but so did he.

No matter what his target was, wether a stone or a fish, none could withstand his all crushing power! they all perished instantly and turned to dust at the hands of [Rot Attack]! making it the most powerful skill in the game! a skill capable of even slaying a world enemy! and all at the price of a single one of his lives....

Of course Joseph's fantasies of one shotting world enemies shattered instantly when his skill didn't work on a mere goblin.

Although the skill seemed overpowered at first sight it, just like you, infact turned out to be quite the disappointment.

It had three major drawbacks:

1. He died everytime he used it.

2. He didn't get any EXP from the targets.

3. It could only be used on targets with 10 levels less than himself.

In his opinion any of the drawbacks mentioned were acceptable by themselves or even in pairs, but having all of them just made the the skill complete garbage.

He could probably get rid of the first drawback by wearing a revival ring, but using one of those everytime he needed to use the skill would just be a waste of a good item.

Joseph decided to make getting rid of at least the first side effect one of his primary goals and he had a way of doing it, he remembered something about some precious ore that when gathered in large quantities would make a world item that would allow him to make a request of the game devs. although which ore it was or how much he needed was a mystery.

Joseph continued testing his other skills and before he knew it, it was already morning and he had to go to work.

Logging off of Yggdrasil, Joseph took off his head gear and got up shakily before stumbling to his clothes that laid on the ground, it only took ten or so minutes before the dizziness receded and he left his apartment.

While on the journey to work, Joseph thought 'I was a spider for more than 12 hours and I barely got a bit dizzy. They did a really good job with the disconnect issue.'

Later, while Joseph was at work, he decided to spend his time analyzing the Yggdrasil intro frame by frame, even after analyzing every pixel all day long, putting the audio through an audio visualizer, playing it backwards and even sacrificing a baby lamb to Murayama in the bathroom he still couldn't find anything.

Going back home, he logged in once more, this time being greeted with a message about a new update, it wasn't something out of his expectations as the game was new and they probably had to fix quite a few bugs and improve a few things.

The update notice read as such:

Game has been updated!

General bug fixes and game optimization.

Changes to the HUD to show DPS (Damage per second) and locations.

It is now possible to see the descriptions of items and add flavor text to those created by players.

It is now possible to see descriptions of skills and classes possessed by players.

'Oh no, Taratects aren't available anymore, what will I do.... Whoever seriously thinks that, is an idiot, If you can read you can clearly see that they can no longer be acquired not that they were removed, but damn those skills and classes were definitely op just from their names, wait if Taratects were removed alongside stuff like [God] and [God slayer] doesn't that mean they are as powerful?'

'Meh I doubt that, [Virginity thief] was probably removed due to them wanting to make the game more PC so maybe Taratects and wyverns were removed because they might cause too much disconnect or something, but I doubt that since I was completely fine after using a spider for more than 12 hours and I definitely don't have some sort of immunity to disconnect.'

Logging in, Joseph was greeted with something he was very familiar with, The tyrant's boot, the oppressor's sword, the slave driver's whip, the striper of rights and freedom also known as the Terms of service.

'Due to concerns of player safety bla bla bla... disconnect bla bla bla....fatal consequences bla bla bla.....Yggdrasil not held accountable bla bla bla....Sign'

After signing away his right to sue Yggdrasil in case he died or went brain dead from disconnect he finally could continue doing the evil god's work, his work.

Think I'll end this chapter here, barely managed to squeeze it out so it's probably not as good as it could be. Also I think I should start showing his status less often.
