Opening the door, Joseph found a package on the ground of the almost empty hallway. He instantly snatched it before smashing the door behind him, Uncaring of the child he had traumatized.

'Amazon delivery is so convenient.' Joseph thought as he tore the package apart almost as violently as Amazon had torn away his privacy away from him.

But then again if Amazon didn't know everything about you how could it give you such good product recommendations and deliver things to you right at your doorstep and even ring your bell? A delivery guy? Oh don't be ridiculous! delivery jobs went extinct a long time ago, along with the people working those jobs.

Easily replaced by machines that were more efficient, made less mistakes and most importantly didn't get payed salaries.

Joseph quickly plugged the new console and turned it on. After creating an account and signing away all his privacy and data for the billionth time he quickly connected it to his V.R headset and opened Yggdrasil.

After opening the game, a video started, he resisted the instinctive impulse to skip it and watched it attentively, looking for any hidden details in the background. In these sorts of games, paying attention to all the details is key to getting ahead of the competition.

And Joseph's goal isn't to simply be ahead of the competition, his goal is to be so far ahead of the competition that there is no competition.

The trailer, introduction video thing talked about the great tree of Yggdrasil and how every leaf on it was a world and that only nine remained: Asgard, Álfheim, Vanaheim, Niðavellir, Midgard, Jötunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, and Múspellsheim.

And that was all, No useful information what so ever. But Joseph had already guessed that it would go like that, he hadn't given up on the video however, deciding to analyze it thoroughly later, but for now he decided to quickly proceed.

Soon, a T posing naked human appeared in front of him. His facial features were angular and his skin smooth, glancing down at his chiseled 6 pack Joseph drooled, I USED TO HAVE ONE OF THOSE!. 'Not anymore tho.' Glancing down even further he finally arrived at his privates. They were blurred.

'Dissapointing, Isn't this game supposed to offer complete freedom? Where are the cock and balls customization options?! How can I create a harem of a 6,928,739,192,718,919,272 jade beauties if I don't have a galaxy size penis to satisfy them all? Oh well, there goes that old teenage fantasy.'

Next to the T posing human, hundreds of options for modification were displayed. From height all the way to nail type and over onto body hair thickness. All aspects were adjustable and modifiable.....Except the best ones.

Above the Soy boy, A dark blue window with the word human was displayed over his head with three lines parallel over each other next to it.

'Wow, It's a human, I would have never guessed that...'

Clicking the three lines a dark blue window embroidered with gold decorations appeared.

[Choose your racial type.]

-Humanoid: 50 races available.

-Demi-human: 360 races available.

-Heteromorph: 600 races available.

'1010 races? those seat shop workers must be working in their sleep or something. It's like I always say a Japanese man who isn't jumping off of his roof is the most frightening force in the universe.

And what's with humanoids having 50 races? They really weren't kidding when they said that it had a large amount of customizability.'

'Well, humans and demi-humans are out since I want to actually not die of old age, What a surprise. Well it still leaves me with 600 options...'

'Meh, Too much work, I'll go through it later. For now the top priority is testing out the game mechanics.'

'But I'll pick vampire just in case I get a special class or skill for being one of the first players.'

Choosing the heteromorphic type, Joseph was given a race called Parasitic maggot mother. Contrary to it's name, instead seeing of a giant maggot monster like he had expected, Joseph was simply presented with a brown haired normal looking woman.

A new tab called [Forms] was also added clicking it, Joseph was presented with another three forms listed as form 1, form 2 and form 3 respectively.

Choosing the final it's final form, he was greeted with the form of a giant maggot monster that he had been first expecting.

'This is probably this race's form when it reaches a high level or something. Interesting, I thought they already looked like monsters from the beginning but it seems they evolve to look more monstrous the more powerful they get. Slowly morphing into hideous monsters as they grow stronger.....Sounds cool'

Quickly swiping through the races, Joseph became more confident in his theory after observing that most races looked completely human at level one.

After swiping through more than a hundred races Joseph became greatly annoyed at having to do it manually due to the none existence of a search feature.

It was probably not added due to some bogus reason like "We want our players to experience our full selection of options."

While he was frantically clicking through the options at a speed of 10 clicks per second, Joseph kept his eye on the names of the species as they blew by.

He then suddenly stopped once he arrived at a certain species that caught his eye. He hadn't stopped because he arrived at a Vampire. He had stopped because he found an anomaly. A race that already looked like a monster without a hint of human features from the very beginning.

A three foot tall, large, black spider with six long legs, eight cold red spider eyes and a vicious mouth under them.

It was in great contrast to the other races who looked mostly human with at most some small monster features like fangs or slit pupils.

The more Joseph looked at it the more he found it familiar. He checked it's name to find that it was called [Taratect spider monster.]

As soon as Joseph read it, he immediately remembered the second ever web novel he had ever read: "So I'm a spider, so what?" a wonderful story about a school girl reincarnating as a spider monster and fighting life or death battles on a daily basis in a giant labyrinth teeming with monsters.

'Isn't this plagiarism? shame on you game devs...'

'Is it even plagiarism though? "Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?" doesn't even exist here. This is either an extreme coincidence or interference by a higher entity. In that case fuck you btw.'

'Will I get evil eyes if I choose it? Probably not since that wasn't a racial skill. I would probably get thread related skills or something. Might be useful. but that applies to most things, after all my creativity is runs as deep as I was in your mother last night.'

Joseph checked the forms, finding three. The first form he had already seen, a second form that seemed more suited for combat with two scythe thingies at the front, and the third which had a human torso on top of the spider.

'No human form huh. Well from what I remember Ainz had a rare class racial class called Undead Overlord so there's probably a hidden class that allows me to get a human appearance and I highly doubt a game full of secret classes, skills, jobs, items and locations like Yggdrasil would show you all the actual forms there are in the character customization of all things'.

'I sorta wanna pick it but there's a lot to be risked if I use it, and not much incentive beyond the fact that it's seemingly the same species as Kumoko. On the other hand i would have to adapt to six legs and it would reduce my combat ability since I trained only in the usage of two legs because I long decided to be a vampire due to their very human appearance and eternal youth.

I would also lose my arms until I get my third form and I'm pretty sure spider monsters like Taratects can die of old age, the only spider monsters that don't are the Zana horowa who are IMMORTAL and I doubt Yggdrasil would even have a skill like that since all of them seem to be decently balanced except for the world champion class and even that one is balance by the fact that only 9 can have it.

The other two spider monsters seemingly unaffected by aging are the queen Taratects and the origin Taratect. I doubt I can become a Queen Taratect since they are way too big, but the origin Taratect seems possible, but to get something as grand as being called the origin of a species I would probably have to fullfil some extremely convoluted conditions.

So in conclusion, if I choose to be a vampire I would gain:

-Eternal youth.

-Affinity to death related skills as I am an undead.

-Guaranteed bipedalism.

-Arms from the very beginning.

On the other if I choose to be a Taratect I would gain:

-Six legs.

-No arms until third form.

-Extremely unfamiliar body leading to great diminishing in the effect of my "martial arts" skills.

-Severe body disconnect meaning either reduced playtime or falling ill.

-High possiblity of dying from old age.

-Affinity to insect type spells?

-Might be able to become as powerful as Shiraori...

-Might be able to become Shiraori...

Anyone can a couple of beans short of a retard can tell at a glance that one of the options is decisively far more superior than the other.

The choice is clear and simple.
