The arrogant noble eyed the elven woman, with a passing glance at Ayse. 

A subtle squint narrowed in on the woman's pressing attitude. Lord Karles paid attention to how she constantly kept her servant from admitting her name. And there was a strange but obvious tension between the elven woman and this particular bodyguard, who carried a young, untamable air about him. 

Was Lord Karles arrogant? Of course. Was Lord Karles highly educated? At least according to records, given all the money spent on his education. But was Lord Karles socially intelligent? He knew more than enough to get by amongst fellow nobles, though he vastly lacked most other forms of social norms. 

Given his background and life experience, there was only one alarming thought blaring through his mind while considering the situation. And it didn't help when Lord Karles thought back to how strong the young brute truly was.
