2 The fight and outcome

The two looked at Johnathan, waiting for him to explain his plan.

"You see those four rocks"

Johnathan pointed over to a car flipped over which had a pile of rocks beside it. The other two looked at where he pointed and back at him, waiting for him to continue his explanation.

"One of us throws two rocks at the zombie's faces while the other two stab them. From movies, their weakness should be their heads"

After he finished explaining, the other two could only sigh and hope this worked, since the two zombies were closing in on them.

"I can throw the rocks. I was pretty good at Shot put"

Johnathan and Danny agreed to Ivan's preposition making him run as quickly as he could. Once he reached the rocks, he picked up two and hurry back to his friends.

Johnathan and Danny were taunting the zombies, trying to make them follow them, while Ivan grabbed the rocks.

The two showed the zombies their middle fingers and said "Fuck you". The zombies kept limping to them, but Johnathan and Danny kept backing up. Before they knew it, Ivan was already near them. He let one rock down and threw the other one at the zombie in front of Johnathan before quickly getting the other one and throwing it at the zombie in front of Danny.

The zombies fell to the ground and before they could get up Danny and Johnathan ran in and stabbed into their heads. The zombies stopped growling and moving, but the two didn't stop there. They grabbed the rocks that Ivan threw and smashed their head with them.

Seeing that they were really dead, an exciting feeling rushed through them. They ran towards each other and celebrated. The celebration only lasted a couple of seconds as they heard clawing at the door of one house.

They were then going to pass the zombies they killed but before they could Johnathan looked at one of their dead bodies and saw that a red crystal was coming out of where its heart was. His curiosity got the best of him, making him crouch down and take the crystal. However, once he touched it, he felt like some force was telling him to eat it.

"What are you doing?"

Hearing Ivan's question, Johnathan ignored the force that compelled him to eat it and showed them the crystal as well as explaining how he got it. Danny, hearing where it came from, asked the others' opinion on what it could be.

"What could it be for"

Ivan shrugged his shoulder while Johnathan gave his theory on it.

"Hmm, I don't know, but it can be something to do with what made them zombies. You guys heard the horn, right?"

Hearing the question about the horn/ trumpet sound, the two nodded, making Johnathan continue with his explanation.

"It said that the trumpets or horn in the bible would cue apocalyptical events. If I'm right about this, then we may experience more than just zombies.Because of that, this crystal could be something God or whoever, sent down to help us get stronger and survive this. That, or we turn into zombies when eating it. Either way, I don't think there's a downside. Turning into a zombie would just mean we wouldn't have to live through hell. But I doubt since when I grabbed it there was this weird force making me want to eat it."

After giving his thoughts, Ivan and Danny thought hard about what to do. Can this really help them get stronger? Is it really safe, or is it something that can kill us? is that force something they should listen to? These thoughts ran through all of their heads, but they couldn't help but hope that this crystal was something beneficial.

Johnathan put the crystal away and was about to continue walking but he felt his phone vibrate. Taking it out of his pocket, he saw that his younger brother was calling him. He immediately picked up and heard the sobs of his brother.

"J-Johnathan. What's happening. I c-called mom, but she didn't pick up. Everyone around me is dying and turning into zombies"

Hearing his brother whisper in fear broke Johnathan's heart.

"Antonio, no matter what, make sure you're hiding and not making any noise. Where are you, I'm coming there right now?"

"I'm on the roof of my school. I'm laying down so none of the monsters could see me, but I don't know how long I can last. These zombies are everywhere. I can't get down, I'm trapped up here"

"Don't worry, I'll be there no matter what. I'll be there in a few hours. Is anyone there with you"

"Matthew, and some other kid a grade higher than me"

"Good. Tell them what I told you. Be quiet and don't stand up"

"A-am I going to die, bro"

"No. I promise you I will do whatever it takes to save you"

"Thanks"

After hanging up the phone, he explained the situation to the other two with him. Johnathan thought that the other two wouldn't come with him since they also had family members that needed help, but unlike what he thought would happen, the two easily decided to help him. When asked why, they easily responded.

"Dude, you and Danny are like my brothers, my family. I know that If I ever needed help, you would be right there. Plus, to get to my house, we have to pass the school he's at, anyway"

After Ivan gave his reason, Danny said, "I mean, as Ivan said, you're basically family. Plus, my house is way too far from here so if even if I wanted to, I doubt I could go there by myself and not die. Three is better than one"

Johnathan honestly felt touched.

They were about to walk again but Johnathan took out the crystal and started at it. The other two looked at him in fear, as they knew what he was about to do.

After looking at the crystal for a couple of seconds, he put it in his mouth and swallowed it. Was it a good idea to do it without knowing what would happen? No, but he was desperate. Three people would most definitely die against an army of zombies. If this crystal increased his strength, then the chances of surviving would increase by a long shot. Plus, he knew that without an army of his own or strong weapons, he wouldn't be able to save his brother. Knowing that the crystal could turn him into a zombie was the least of his worries. In his mind 'turning into a zombie's better than having to see my brother's body while being eaten alive.'

After he swallowed the crystal, he immediately fell to the ground and clenched his heart.

"Argh" Johnathan screamed in agony.

AN: I hope you guys understand why he ate the crystal. He needed to save his brother knowing that plenty of zombies are there. The three of them, without guns, would definitely die if they didn't get stronger.
