Chapter 16 - Fight Between Behemoths

So I get an achievement when I have 50 points on a particular attribute. Let's check what this skill is about.

*Minor Strength Boost (Active) (Uncommon) Lvl 1*

*20% Strength Boost For 30 seconds, Cooldown 60 seconds*

The 20% strength boost was going to be a lifesaver, although it was only for 30 seconds and had a long 60 seconds cooldown. I was still not sure how strong the monsters of this new world were.

The hobgoblin was a very tough opponent back then, although I was very sure I could easily slay one with my current strength but if we encountered a group of hobgoblins, the only option would be to run.

I didn't use my 3 skill points yet. I was tempted to upgrade Lesser Regeneration and Strength Boost, but Haste was very important for me now, so I had to save some points for that.

I knew that with Unwavering body, I had a massive advantage with my strength and I could easily invest all my free attribute points on Agility and get very balanced and perfect stats.

But I didn't want to let Unwavering Body effect go to waste and planned on going all in strength, vitality and Defense, with minimum investment in Agility. I was planning to compensate for that with movement-based skills like Haste.

After sorting out all my stats I checked to see what everyone else was doing. They were all busy checking their stats.

It looks weird to watch someone check their stats, they basically keep staring into nothing with full concentration, while nodding their heads from time to time as if they are watching an invisible television.

Even weirder are the people who use their hands to distribute their stats. And that stupid guy was Walter, the guy was muttering a bunch of things and was waving his hand in the air.

While they were sorting out their stats, I decided to take out another chocolate bar and ate it while enjoying the beautiful forest view, with the beautiful sound of birds chirping and leaves fluttering in the background.

After waiting for around half an hour or so we got up and continued our journey toward the safety village.

We were extra cautious this time about being ambushed. We kept walking straight through waist-high tall grass and heavy bushes.

After around 20 minutes of walking, we could clearly see the safety village. The walls were made of massive wooden logs, they were about 10ft high. The wall was making it impossible for us to look inside. But the one building was standing tall and easily visible.

It looked like one of those old European buildings, but this one was made with wood, not stone. The roof of the building was triangular in structure which was made with light-colored wood, whereas the walls were made with dark wood. There was one massive tower-looking part at the front center of the building which was much taller than the rest, I assumed that was where the door was.

We were still around 5 minutes away from the village gate when we saw a Griffon-looking creature swooping down from the sky.

I went right past us, I didn't even get the time to react. The moment I saw it and the moment when it went past us was soo fast that I couldn't even keep track of its movement.

The Griffon was already very far, then it stopped abruptly and looked towards the ground. After a few seconds, a around 15 feet(457 cm) tall Panther-looking creature pounced at the Griffon.

The Griffon which was in the air swooped downwards to meet the panther head-on. There was purple energy seeping out of the panther's body, and the Griffon was surrounded by golden-colored energy.

The collision between the two sent a massive shockwave, unrooting the trees close to them and causing tremendous damage to the surrounding. The shockwave was strong enough to be felt even a mile away. We had to run and take cover behind a sturdy tree because of all the trees that were sent flying.

One of their attacks was strong enough to cause damage similar to a tornado. And these trees were not even the same as the ones which we had before on earth. The trees now were much bigger and sturdier.

If I was closer to where they were fighting, the shockwave alone would have been able to send me flying like paper. Luke's group was doing their best to hold onto the tree, Lily and Walter were doing the same.

I was somehow able to watch the fight. With each one of their collisions, the forest was getting destroyed. I was not sure how this safety zone was even supposed to defend against these monsters.

I turned my head to look in the direction of the Safety zone and the trees and stones came flying toward it. I was sure that, the wooden walls were going to collapse and the village was done for.

But the moment the trees and stones got near the village wall, a blue translucent shield surrounded the village and blocked the oncoming objects. The shield was shaped like a cube surrounding every corner of the village.

The fight between the two behemoth creatures was still going on strong. I was strong enough to run towards the village but the group had to keep their cover behind the tree since they didn't have enough vitality or defense to withstand the flying stones and tree particles.

We all waited behind the tree and finally, the monstrous battle was coming to an end. The Griffon did a claw swing towards the panther which summoned golden lightning. The Griffon's claw hit the panther's eye and blinded the panther on one side.

Taking advantage of this the Griffon did another claw attack at the Panther's abdomen, ripping it apart and making the panther's intestines fall out. But at his last dying breath, the Panther bit into one of the Griffon's front legs, tearing the limb apart.

In the end, the battle ended with the Griffon winning but it ended up losing one of it's limbs. Then the Griffon grabbed the Panther's body with its beak and flew away.

We waited until the Griffon was invisible to get out of our cover. The damage that the two creatures did left unrooted trees everywhere around the forest. The place where they fought became a giant crater.

After all this, we headed towards the village, which was the only thing unscratched from the destruction as far as our eyes could see.

The village had a wooden gate that was open, the moment I set foot inside the gate there were system pop-ups.

*Welcome to Village Orilon*

*The Village Does Not Have A Lord*

*You Can Claim The Village As Your Own*

We all looked at each other, everyone got the same message. But we decided to sort it out later after we got more information about how the village worked.

From the inside the village was spacious. Actually, it was too spacious, there was a lot of free space. There were around 10 or 20 wooden cabins that looked like they could hold around 10 people max.

The main attraction of the village was the massive building in the middle, and the 3 slightly larger buildings surrounding it. The biggest building with a tower-looking appearance had 3 floors whereas the 3 large buildings surrounding it were 2 story.

We headed straight to the largest building since it was the one that was shooting a beacon from the top of it.

After entering the building, we all were flabbergasted by the woodwork that went into the decoration of the interior. Every pole inside the building was properly crafted with a pattern at the bottom and the end. There was a big iron chandelier hanging on the top with candles on it, illuminating the place, and giving it a cozy vibe.

The lighting inside was just perfect with the chandelier, plus there were also lanterns hanging at the wooden poles.

The place was filled with a lot of chairs, benches, and tables for people to sit at. It looked exactly like a tavern from the anime's I watched.

There was even a massive desk, which looked like a reception area. Behind the desk was a beauty that could not be described with words.

She looked like an elf, with the fairest skin I have ever seen, almost as if it was shining. Blonde hair as if they were made of gold. Her eyes emerald, and body slim, but curves in all the right places. The ears pointy at the top, just how I imagined an elf to be.

After not being able to tell for how long we stared at her. We came to our senses when Lily coughed and gave me and Walter a cold glare.

We made our way toward the reception desk. Where the elf greeted us.

Elf Girl: "Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild Of Orilon Village!"
