13 Chapter 13 - Hostage Situation!
When I looked for the person who was chased by the sabretooth, the guy was nowhere to be seen. I thought he might have run away and was probably hiding somewhere, but since there were too many buildings in the area I was not going to bother looking for him.
With everything done outside, I went inside the building to get Lily and Walter to continue our journey to the mall. When we ran from the sabretooth before, we ran in the opposite direction of the mall. So we had to set out quickly if we wanted to get to the mall in time and return back to school before dark.
But when I went in, I found Walter passed out and a knife being held against Lily's neck by the same person who was being chased by the sabretooth.
"So here you are! I was looking for you outside"
Tim: "Don't come near me, or…. she dies"
"Khahahah…hahahaha…."
Tim: "You think I won't kill her… if you take even a step closer she dies"
The guy pressed his knife against Lily's neck, the wound was deep enough for a little drop of blood to slide down her neck.
"And you think I will let you fucking live after that" I said casually.
I took a step closer to him casually, which made him panic and fall back a little while holding Lily as close to him as possible.
Tim: "Give me all your food and I will let her live"
"We don't have any food"
Tim: "Don't lie to me, give me everything or she dies"
"You little fucking level 3 piece of shit!, YOU DARE THREATEN ME WITH A HOSTAGE"
"I dare you! Kill her!"
Although my age was about 16 my physical appearance after leveling up and the constant fighting made me look like a muscular giant with a caveman-like appearance.
It was enough to scare the living crap out of the bravest of men. Although the guy was scared and was backing away in fear he was still holding onto Lily.
He started looking here and there, probably to find a way to escape. With him distracted I used the chance to activate Haste and rushed toward him. I tackled him down to the ground with my right hand grabbing his face, exactly how you would grab a basketball if you had large enough hands.
With this, the guys back was planted to the ground and Lily was out of his grip. Although I had some conflict in my heart about killing a human. But I told myself it was nothing different than killing a monster. The monster wanted to kill me and my friends, this person was doing the same thing.
If I took too much time to think about it, I was sure I couldn't do it. So without thinking about it at all I punched his chest. The punch broke his ribs and my hand went in as if his body was made of jelly. Although I punched with only around 30% of my power, it still crushed every bone that it made contact with. I could feel the cracking of his ribs and see blood seeping out of his orifices. The instant the punch landed the guy coughed out a mouthful of blood and died instantly.

I was starting to feel remorse for killing the guy but instantly numbed it out and tried my best to forget about it. Although it was hard but, I stood there still for a moment, telling myself to forget about it. Numbness is not the most pleasant feeling, it's like a wound that hurts so bad that you lose the feeling in the area, although it's not the idlest state of mind, but it prevents you from breaking.

I put on a smile and walked toward Lily and Walter to check if they were okay.
Lily was terrified of being soo close to death, but that was a regular thing now. All of us were not even sure if we would be alive after a minute, so they were handling it much better.
Walter was passed out, so I sprinkled a little bit of water on his face, which I stored in my inventory before leaving the school. Walter flickered his eye, for a moment he seemed confused.
Walter: "What happened? Ahhhh...This stinging pain on the back of my head"
Walter was holding onto the back of his head while trying to figure out what was going on.
Then Lily told us how that person appeared suddenly behind Walter and hit the back of his head, which resulted in Walter passing out, and then he took Lily hostage.
We left the school at dawn and now the sun was shining bright in the sky. We still had to reach the mall and the danger ahead was unknown.

I was not sure why I was not able to see the durability of the object. It was probably because my Identification was only level 1 but I was still not ready to spend my skill points on them. The system only gave 1 skill point for every level, so I had to save them up if I wanted to level up my other skills.
The knife was not suitable for my way of fighting, so it went to Walter. It was only after Lily and Walter had a big fight about who was going to take the knife, and Walter had to promise that Lily could keep whatever weapon they found next.
After that, we drank some water and continued on our journey. Walter tried to start a few cars that were in finer condition, but for some reason, none of them started. It was as if some unknown magic was making them inoperable.
So our journey continued the same as before. We walked with vigilance, three of us covering our blind spots to the best of our capabilities.
After around 15 minutes of walking, we were back on the highway. The highway was ghostly silent, with crashed cars and little black smoke coming out of a few of the cars. The same place was bustling and full of people and vehicles before.
Looking at the smoke coming out of the cars reminded us of the fuel inside them, although the cars were not operating the fuel could help us a lot in starting a fire. We found a few containers inside a car and stored as much fuel as we could. After which we stored the filled containers inside our inventories. In total, we got around 13 liters (3.4 gallons).
With the smell of fuel in our hands, we continued towards the mall which was starting to become more visible with every step we took. On our way, we caught glimpse of people peeking through their windows. It seems like almost everyone had locked themselves in and were waiting for help to come.
We also found around 10 or so goblin corpses on our way, plus wolf corpses. The wolfs looked almost identical to the modern-day wolfs on earth, but they were a little bigger in size and much darker, they were only a few shades away from looking pure black.
This was basically free treasure and some of the bodies were still fresh, they were probably killed a few hours ago. I made sure to store the fresh bodies in the inventory. The inventory somehow was able to keep things fresh, it was as if time was still inside the inventory.
I found this out by examining the goblin bodies that I stored yesterday, I was expecting a rotting smell when I took them out of the inventory but to my surprise, they were still in the same condition as when I stored them.
This was going to be a lifesaver to store food.
And after walking for some more time we arrived outside the mall, but the moment we took a step inside the mall door the ground started shaking. The earthquake was increasing in intensity with each passing second.
