1 Reborn with Old Memories

“Kpow!”

“Take this!”

“How did that serve you? Hahaha.”

“My name is Jin-Yang. I’m the kind of guy who is so into martial arts in Xianxia novels. I have been to every single place that offers me information about Xianxia’s martial arts so I get to learn about its principles and know how to practice them. I spend most of my time in libraries or on the internet to read Xianxia novels and comics, including watching Xianxia movies. I have also been to many Xianxia Super Fan competitions and always won. I think it would be great if I could be born in that world.”

“Hey!”

“Martial arts freak! Wouldn’t you run on the water again today?”

“Hahaha!!”

“My life is none of your affairs. You shall not intrude!”

“‘My life is none of your affairs. You shall not intrude?’ Don’t you know that we live in a modern world? What’s with that style of talking? So old-fashioned. I think you have become too much. Just find some free time to party.”

“You can do whatever you want. This is what I do!”

Jin-Yang was always made fun of by his friends, but he never cared about what others thought. He had been teased this way since he was a boy, so he was used to it. He only cared about getting to do things he loved to do…

“The new Chinese movie ‘The Mighty Book of Xianxia Lord’s Fist’ comes out today. I think I’ll go check it out.”

“Meowww!”

“Hey!”

“Watch out, cat!”

As Jin-Yang decided to go see the new movie, he spotted a cat with its legs stuck in a drain grate, so he rushed to help it. But as he moved towards the cat…

Honk! Honk!

“Yo! Move! Move away!”

“This is bad. I have to be faster.”

All of a sudden, there was a car coming towards him at high speed with a loud horn-honking noise. The driver seemed to be drunk, judging from his face and the way that the car swayed crazily from left to right as it approached him…

Bam!

Shriek!

“A man got hit by a car!”

“Am I dead? Why is everything so dark?”

There was nothing Jin-Yang could do because that car hit right at him so hard that his body was lifted off the ground and dropped many meters away. Blood sprayed out from his mouth. Before Jin-Yang could make sense of what was going on, everything around him faded to black…

…………….

Sough!

Wah-Wah!

“Sir!”

“It’s a boy, sir.” A midwife yelled loudly as she came out of a room to ensure the middle-aged man who was waiting outside that he got a son…

“I’ve got a son!? I’ve got a son!”

“Hahaha!”

“But, sir…”

“But what?”

“He is unusually frail. I’m afraid that…” The midwife found it difficult to disclose unpleasant news…

“No need to say further. I’m more than delighted that he came out safely.” The middle-aged man was being well-aware of what the midwife was going to say about his newborn son, so he stopped her from saying it because all he wished was for his son to be alive…

“Yes, sir!”

“Congratulations, Elder.” Another middle-aged man in the room extended his joy to the new father. “So, what’re you going to name him?” He asked for the boy’s name…

“Thank you very much! Ling and I have prepared a name for him. It’s ‘Zheng-Fu’. When it’s paired with our surname ‘Tian-Tang’, it means ‘The Heaven Conqueror’.” The new father answered the Elder with a joyful smile…

“That is a very magnificent name. When the boy grows up, he will be as great as you.”

“Hahaha!”

- Three years passed by (as quick as a novel) -

“Zheng-Fu! Where are you?”

“I’m here, mother…”

“How were things today? Are you tired?”

“Not at all, mother. I was very focused today. I must become as great as father.”

“That’s very good. Go clean yourself up and let’s have dinner.”

“Yes, mother!”

It had been three years now since Jin-Yang was reborn into this new world. He had been raised as a son of one of the elders in the Tian-Tang Clan…

Clomp! Clomp! Clomp!

“What was that?”

Ever since Zheng-Fu started to make sense of the world, he usually had these strange visions in his head. He tended to think that he was dreaming when it happened. He tried to talk to his parents about it, but they only thought that he was merely being imaginative. He also believed that that was the case, so he did not want to think too much about it…

However, the visions appeared quite often lately after he started practicing martial arts. The visions came with headaches. He felt like some thoughts and memories were piercing into his mind as if there was another person existing in him…

Next morning…

“Zheng-Fu. Are you awake? It’s late dear. Aren’t you going to practice today?”

…?

“Zheng-Fu!”

Knock knock!

“Zheng-Fu, dear!”

Since Zheng-Fu’s mother noticed that he had not come out of his room, she hurried to his room and knocked at his door. She had been knocking for a while but did not hear any response…

‘Maybe he had already gone out. But how come I didn’t see him this morning?’

“I’m coming in dear.”

Creaky!

“Zheng-Fu!”

When Zheng-Fu’s mother did not hear any response, she decided to open the door to check if he was in his room. But as she managed to open the door, she was shocked to see him lying unconscious on the floor. She immediately picked him up with utmost concern. As she held him up, she could feel the tremendous heat from his body. He was also soaked in sweat…

“Dear husband!”

“Dear husband! There is something wrong with our son!”

Clomp! Clomp! Clomp!

“What happened, my dear Ling?”

Hearing that loud scream from Zheng-Fu’s mother, Zheng-Fu’s father, being nearby, rushed to Zheng-Fu’s room with worry on his face. He would like to know what was going on, but before his wife told him anything, he saw his son lying there on the floor with the corner of his eyes…

“Zheng-Fu!”

Snatch!

Zheng-Fu’s father hurried to sit Zheng-Fu up and began to transmit inner energy to him without hesitation because the rhythm of his energy flow worked unusually.

“You must save him, dear husband!” Zheng-Fu’s mother could not do anything but cry because she worried and felt hurtful to see her son that way. All she could do now was to pray for gods to protect him…

“Absolutely!”

2 shichens (4 hours) after that…

“Whew!”

After 2 shichens had passed, Zheng-Fu’s father finally stopped the energy transmission ritual. He released a very long exhale to show a sign of tremendous exhaustion.

“How was it, dear husband?”

“He is fine now. He will be all right after a short rest. I will ask our physician to give him some medicines. Let him rest, dear wife!”

“Dear Zheng-Fu, please get well soon…”

Clang!

After Zheng-Fu’s parents came out of his room, his mom started to get uncomfortable as if she had something to say to her husband. Eventually, she decided to blurt it out…

“Dear husband, I think our son is not a martial artist type. He is too weak for it, I think…”

“I’m well aware of that my dear, but what am I going to do? Martial arts are his life. As his father, I need to support him, especially when he shows such determination, even though I know that the practice will take its toll on him in the future. And I had tried to seek the right physician to treat his frailty, but no one could help him. Even the medicines from our clan’s physician couldn’t make him stronger.”

Zheng-Fu’s father gave an explanation to his wife with sorrow. He had tried to do every single thing to help his son gain body strength and become as strong as others. But no matter how much he tried to find the right physician for him, he failed to do so because there was not any physician or medicine in the kingdom that was right for this job…

“Sigh!”

“But please don’t worry about it. I would never let anything happen to our son. Please go and take some rest because you’ve been with him the whole day. Let me give you a massage tonight, dear.” Zheng-Fu’s father tried to cheer his wife up by teasing her so she would not get weary.

“You’re crazy!”

Back to Zheng-Fu…

“Where is this place? I was just about to save that cat. Am I dead?”

In a very dark place somewhere where there was only darkness and emptiness that permeated the vast space, Jin-Yang started to pick himself up from the ground. He felt tremendous pain throughout his body in a way that he could not explain. He tried to open his eyes as wide as he could so he could check out the place where he was at. He wondered if he was dead. Then all of a sudden, there was a thin ray of light appeared not far from him. The light got brighter and brighter up to the point where his eyes could not stand its brightness…

Flash!

“Ouch!”

“My eyes! Ouch! The headache…so painful!” Jin-Yang felt the pain in his eyes instantaneously as the bright light hit them. Then not long after, he felt an overwhelming pain in his head so much that he had to cover it with his both hands. The pain subsided after a while. That was when his eyes started to make sense of the place…

Sough!

What!?
