The Cabin

2 Days before the invasion

Nadias POV

"Hey, are you almost done?" Ethan yelled from outside my apartment door. "Yeah but how long are we staying at your dad's cabin, cause I don't know how much of my clothes I need to pack" I admitted looking around the room.

A few moments later Ethan burst into my apartment putting his hands in the air and yelling "ILL HELP" with a childish but adorable smile. I laughed at his childish behavior as I put my suitcase on my bed and told him to get the clothes in the closet.

"So I'm not sure exactly how long this will last so just get enough clothes for about a month" Ethan explained as I went to the drawers to get some extra shirts and pants. "Ooo take this" Ethan stated as he held up my long fancy dress out. "Ethan be serious" I said as I threw one of my pillows at him which he dodged easily.

"I am serious, what if we have a date night and you decide you want to wear something fancy but then realize you have nothing good to wear" He rambled as I jokingly rolled my eyes. " If we have a date night it's most likely going to be at the cabin so I won't need anything fancy" I replied as I motioned for him to put it back.

"Dang it" He childishly said as he put the dress back in its original position. We continued to get a month's worth of clothing organized so that we could start heading to the cabin. Ethan then brought up a question that broke our concentration.

" Wait a minute what about your job will they let you miss a month off of work," Ethan asked innocently. "Oh about that...I quit" I replied. " WHAT...but that job meant a lot to you, why did you quit," Ethan asked confused. "Well I already paid off my rent 2 months in advance and I can get any other barista job at another coffee shop, plus you need me more right now. But no worries after this whole mess is over I'll get another part-time job, and finish school so that I can get my bachelor's degree and then eventually become a doctor. Also, that job wasn't paying me enough money to deal with all those stressful customers." I explained confidently.

"Wow, you really got it all figured out"He stated. "What about you what do you want to become in the future," I asked curiously. "Oh, I want to become a NASA engineer" Ethan explained excitedly. "No fair your future job is better" I complained childishly which Ethan then replied, "Nonsense we are both gonna have really good jobs when we are older, plus we are gonna be rich," Ethan stated excitedly practically yelling.

"Of course, that's assuming I even survive this battle," I thought to myself. Once we finished packing Ethan carried my suitcase downstairs and we headed to his house to say goodbye to everyone since we wouldn't be seeing them for about a month. "Do you have to go?" kai asked adorably with sad eyes as he was being held in his big brother's arms.

"Yes, but don't worry when I come back we can play as many astronauts and knight games as you want, deal" Ethan stated compromising with his 5-year-old brother. "DEAL!!" Kai yelled as he hugged Ethan one last time before being set down on the floor. Ethan then proceeded to hug and say his goodbyes to his mom and dad.

Once he was done I too said goodbye as I hugged Isabelle and David, telling them thank you for everything they've done for me. " No worries sweetheart just come back safe," Isabelle stated. I nodded as I messed with Kai's hair "Bye cutie I'll see you when I come back" I stated as I smiled gently at him. "Bye-bye Nadia" Kai yelled as he waved his tiny hands up in the air as Ethan and I made our way into his car I sat in the passenger seat while he went to the driver's seat. We waved goodbye for the last time before we drove off.

Ever since the incident with Ethan's mom, Ethan made sure to get his driver's license because he felt useless and he said he never wanted to feel that way again. It took us 30 minutes to get to the cabin, the moment we got there the first thing I noticed was the beautiful blue lake next to the 2-story cabin, and right behind the lake was a forest filled with tall trees.

After I finished admiring the cabin we began to unpack our bags, I took the guest bedroom and Ethan took his parent's bedroom. Both bedrooms were right next to each other. After I finished unpacking my bag I went to the back of the cabin to the back porch and sat on the hammock that was laid out.

I stayed outside for about 5 minutes enjoying the scenery before Ethan came outside, "Hey I'm gonna go get something to make for dinner do you want to come" He asked. "Actually if it's ok with you I think I'm gonna stay here and enjoy the scenery a little more." I replied as I looked out into the lake. "ok I'll be back in about 40 minutes, the store is right down the road anyway."He explained as he closed the back door.

I stayed outside until the sunset at around 6:00 pm not long after coming inside I heard the keys jangle in the front door and Ethan walked inside with bags as he yelled, " I brought chicken and vegetables." "Thank god I'm starving" I replied as I rushed to get the bags from him. I put the bags on the kitchen counter as I began to empty them "What the... it's all raw" I explained confused. "Well yeah we have to cook it first" Ethan explained.

"Oh...but I don't know how to cook, "I stated shyly. "Really? Then what do you usually eat?" He asked curiously. "Well, I usually get fast food or take out," I explained. "Wow... I wouldn't have guessed since your body looks like your always eating healthy meals." He states surprised by my previous answer. "Thanks, I stated as I felt a small blush come across my cheeks. "Don't worry about it I'll teach you how to cook" He smiled and explained excitedly. "Oh ok," I stated as I shrugged my shoulders.

After about an hour of us cutting vegetables cooking rice and Ethan teaching me how to properly cook chicken "tenderloins" as he called them. We eventually ate it all and it was absolutely delicious. He told me we would continue training tomorrow and that today was a rest day. I nodded and kissed him goodnight before going to my room and getting ready for bed.

After getting ready for bed I went into bed and began to close my eyes and drift into a deep sleep.

I was in the middle of nowhere I couldn't recognize a single thing all I saw was empty darkness. Then just like that a flash of bright light came and I saw a female body but there was no face, the female then began to laugh uncontrollably as a frightening cruel smile formed on her face. Next thing I knew blood pooled all around me. I looked down and Ethan was dead at my feet. I tried to help him but I was restrained and couldn't move a muscle then the laughing women began to throw blades at me.

I felt everyone pierce through my skin with such tremendous force that each 5-inch blade went straight through. I couldn't breathe speak or even move I was frozen in fear, all I could do was scream. I then began to shake and I heard the women say my name "Nadia...Nadia"

I quickly opened my eyes as I saw Ethan next to me. I was short of breath as I looked directly at him with tears in my eyes. " Thank god, are you ok I heard you scream so I rushed in to hear and you weren't waking up, you scared me," Ethan stated as he looked at me with sad eyes. "I...I had a nightmare" I stated hesitantly as my lips began to quiver and I began to breathe heavily. "I...I can't breathe" I stated between breaths as I felt tears fall from my eyes. "You're having a panic attack" Ethan explained worry clearly shown on his face.

I looked him in the eyes as fear began to take over, my breaths becoming more and more unstable. Next thing I knew Ethan placed his lips on mine catching me by surprise since it was our first kiss. After a second I was no longer having short breaths and I calmed down as I closed my eyes and returned his kiss. Once I felt his lips move from mine I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him intently. "I'm sorry...you were having a panic attack and I didn't know what else to do so I wanted to distract-" He started but was interrupted by me kissing him in return. "Thank you" I stated as I hugged his toned body.

"Can you stay with me tonight, please...I don't want to be alone. I asked him shyly. "Absolutely" he responded as he made his way into my covers and brought me closer to his chest. All I could hear was the sound of his steady heartbeat, listening to his heartbeat kept me calm and eventually caused me to fall back to sleep.

Ethan's POV

I began to feel her relax and after a couple of minutes, she fell back to sleep. It upset me that she was having a panic attack, the pressure was starting to get to her. I wish there was a way to assure her that she didn't have to bear this burden alone.

It's not just her burden anymore it's ours, because we are in this together no matter what. After rubbing my hands through her soft hair I read the clock that read 2:00 am I then laid my head on hers and eventually also fell asleep.
