Answered Prayer

The car drove through a huge black steel bar gate that spoke elegance. The word 'Evergrande' was written in cursive on the metallic signboard on top of the huge gate. As they go beyond the gate, a vast land with beautiful flowers was planted. The car drove for a good fifteen minutes before reaching the ancestral home. Huo Tingbai, the trusted butler of Li Jiyao, Li Shen's old man, opened Li Shen's car seat and greeted him.

"Welcome home young master."

The driver then opened Zhen Wei's side as she stepped out making the old Huo Tingbai shocked. He didn't expect his young master to bring home a young miss. He quickly recovered and payed Zhen Wei his respect. She responded with a smile and a slight bow.

'Such a huge mansion!' Zhen Wei exclaimed in awe.

The butler then guided them towards the dining room where Li Shen's parents were waiting.

"Aiya, what took you so long? It's lunchtime already." Madam Li started. She was about to speak again when Li Shen butted off.

"Mom, dad, I came home with someone." Because of his sudden declaration, Mr and Mrs Li's mouth fell agape. Never did they expect him to bring someone over to introduce. They assumed that they would marry him off from a matchmaking so they least expect their son to bring someone over himself. Zhen Wei then entered the hall looking confused as everyone was staring at her including the maids who were inside the dining room. She was late to arrive because she excused herself to use the bathroom from the other room just before the dining hall.

Li Shen then smiled at her and led her to face his parents. His hand was resting at her lower back. "Xiao Wei these are my parents. Mom, dad, Zhen Wei and I are currently dating." Zhen Wei's face turned red upon hearing what he said. It was too sudden for her that she can't help but stutter as she greets them.

"Aiya! I didn't know you knew each other son! That's why I thought you looked familiar, it was you!" Madam Li exclaimed. Li Shen just gave his mother a perplexed look.

"Remember the girl I told you back then? The one I want you to meet? It was Xiao Wei!" She said and laughed heartily. "Come, come. Let's all take a seat." Madam Li ushered the maids to bring in the food. Various delicacies were placed before them. Madam Li then told them that they should eat first which they obliged. Li Shen picked some spring rolls using his chopsticks and placed it on Zhen Wei's plate. He kept on putting food on her plate that Madam Li can't help but to grin at his son's actions.

Meanwhile, old man Li cleared his throat making everyone look at him attentively. "Xiao Wei, how is my son?" He pried.

'He was good.' Her inner self answered as some of last night's scene flashed back on her mind. Her cheeks turned bright red and quickly discarded her perverted thoughts. "He's treating me well." She answered sincerely. What happened last night was her fault so it didn't count, aside from giving her a shock at his sudden confession, she admitted that Li Shen treated her well.

Old man Li nodded his head. "So when will you marry?" Hearing his words, Zhen Wei choked on her food. Li Shen quickly poured a glass of water and gave it to her as he slowly patted her back to soothe her.

"Aiyo, what Jiyao wanted to say is when are you two planning on giving us a grandchild?" She said excitedly not even minding Zhen Wei's heated face as she almost choked again while drinking the water Li Shen gave her.

"Are you okay now?" Li Shen asked in a concerned voice. Zhen Wei nodded in return.

After Li Shen confirmed Zhen Wei was okay he turned to face his parents. "I'll marry her soon." He declared.

'What are you trying to pull of yah!' Zhen Wei wailed internally. She couldn't believe he was spouting nonsense without even batting his eyelashes. She was too embarrassed to look at them in the eye already, why would he add fuel to the fire? 'I don't even know him well yet!' She wished to disappear in thin air.

"That's good! Let mother know if you need any help, okay?" Madam Li became enthusiastic after hearing her son. She couldn't believe her eyes before her, Li Shen, her son being determined to marry a person right before them. The person she wanted her son to be with right at that.

'Good heavens! My prayers have finally been answered!'

"Xiao Wei, mother is happy that you will be part of the family soon!" Zhen Wei laughed awkwardly. She thought that somehow his parents would not approve of her, but here she is, favored by them.

Lunch ended and both Li Shen and Zhen Wei bid their goodbyes. Madam Li wanted to stop Zhen Wei from leaving, she wanted to have a chat with her. She only had an only son and badly wanted to have a daughter so she wanted to catch up with Zhen Wei. Though she stopped herself from doing so because she wanted Li Shen to spend more time first with her granddaughter-in-law. It would be a good way to toughen up their relationship.

When they left the ancestral home, this time Li Shen drove the car with Zhen Wei seated on the passenger seat. The drive was silent as Wei observed outside the window. The vast land of flowers gradually became buildings. From time to time Li Shen would glimpse on her to see if she's okay. They eventually arrived back in Beijing. When Zhen Wei saw the hospital her grandma was admitted to, she finally broke the silence.

"I wonder how grandma is doing right now." She muttered loudly. Li Shen heard it and decided to do a detour at Liu International Hospitals. He went through the underground parking lot and opened the door for Zhen Wei.

"Why are we here?" She asked.

"I have a very special patient here that I wanted to check first because I take you on a date." She followed behind Li Shen's footsteps until they arriver at ward 719. She looked at the familiar name written on the signboard outside the room, it was her grandma's. She felt confused about the happenings. Li Shen swiftly opened the door as Zhen Wei followed behind him looking perplexed.

"Dr Li! It's good to see you, aren't you on vacation?" The old woman greeted Li Shen with a big smile on her face. She didn't expect Li Shen to show up while on his day off. Although he frequently sees her.

"Dr Li?" Zhen Wei showed up behind Li Shen.

Her grandma's face immediately lit up as her gaze dawned on her favorite grandchild.

"Oh, Xiao Wei! Didn't I told you about Dr Li?"

She turned around to meet Li Shen's eyes. "I didn't know it was you, Li Shen."
