Chapter 6

Nothing happened. Asmodious looked at his finger and thumb. He had definitely touched it but nothing happened. He looked closely at his finger. The mark had vanished. He looked at Ellie's hand. It was gone from there too. He touched her palm where it had been but nothing. What was going on? Had he imagined it? No. The after effects of the pain he had experienced where still coursing through his body. He stared intently at Ellie, nearly 18 years and there had been nothing. Not even a hint of magic or anything else for that matter. The only way to describe Ellie was Other. Other because there was no Other like Ellie. But now, something had happened, something that didn't make sense, there was magic. Asmodious remembered putting the magical barrier around his land when Ellie was younger he did it to protect her. No magic, no matter how powerful could breach it. But it did. There were clear signs of magic. But no clue from where. It hadn't come from Ellie that much was certain Ellie was unable to perform magic. Asmodious pondered this all through the night. The sun began peer over the trees. Dawn was here. Ellie would awaken soon. Asmodious decided. He would speak to Ellie today and let her know she had been marked by magic, he would tell her of the note, he would tell her about how she was different, he would tell her of the dangers she would be in if she left his care and he hoped...he hoped it would be enough to make her stay. Stay where he could always protect her. Stay where she was safe. Stay where she belonged.
