13 Chapter 12: Wonder

This…

… It's the key.

I couldn't help but feel complicated, as I hold the normal-looking syringe in my hands. It wasn't just a syringe. It was an artifact, a rare item that only one in a million people gets to have. It's a cheat, an item that conflicts with natural strength.

Something that could change someone's life. And it's now in my hands...

The key to a very dangerous life.

Should I take it?

Was I actually ready to live a life I wasn't born for? Is this excitement just a farce from what I was feeling? Am I afraid of death? Am I going to die?

Hah… are you kidding me fear?

I fear missing an opportunity like this!

Excitement is the only emotion I was feeling. I stare at the artifact resting in my arms as I look ahead for what's to come. Whether it's something fun or if it's something dangerous, I can only live this type of life in the world of Terran.

...

Anyways, do I need something else here? Not in particular. Those gold chunks are hard to sell, as you need a license for those. That cash dates back to the First Guardians, and it doesn't have any value in this new society. I mean they are everywhere, but at the same time they don't hold any value, it's pretty much paper with some art on it.

Hmm…

I guess I can take this too…

A small violet string rests on the treasure pile. It was most likely an item as it was among this pit. I don't recall anything about this item when they found this place, so I'm sure it's nothing special. But I didn't get this for its effects anyways.

It's for this long hair I have.

Pue... It's getting in my mouth.

It's a whole mess since I wasn't able to tie it during that chase with the lizardman. I also didn't have anything to tie it with, so this string is the perfect match for me. It matches my eye color too.

With that I prepared to exit the fountain, trying to look around for something I need, all while avoiding the items that'll be helpful for the main character's growth.

I'm quite reluctant to leave them, but the main character has a job to do. Though it's unknown to me as I didn't manage to finish the story before I was suddenly faced with a man-eating lizard, a main character who always has a job to complete. I mean a story is a story because someone had to tell his entertaining journey. It might be something fun I want to do, but Sol is a different being, someone who was born to fight and succeed. He has a system that lets him do some missions and buy incredible things from the simplest clothing up to legendary artifacts.

The Hunter Shop or something like that? Because he kills Inters and exchanges them for points. Yeah, it's crazy. It has a lottery wheel, a status screen, and even a whole map. Thank god it didn't have a stat allocation panel, or Earthly Guardian would've been copyrighted.

A mission for a man of that caliber isn't something a mere extra like me could do.

...

But anyways... It's time to get out of here. I reached for the entrance of the pit, and ultimately lift myself up. The syringe was hiding in my pockets which doesn't really hide it well, but it's the best I can do as of this moment.

Damn, I got wet again… At least my hair isn't as bad as earlier. I looked like a properly drenched rat when I didn't have this string.

Anyways, I should hurry back to the others. My clothes are incredibly soaked, but I'll just make up an excuse for that. I was supposed to be in the bathroom after all.

" You… " As I hurry off from the fountain trying to remove the chance of anyone seeing me, a condescending voice enters my ears…

Shit…

" You fucking bastard… "

Reign Hart…

How is he back so quickly?! Did he not go to his dad's house?

" Dad said he wouldn't call for me unless I receive a text from him. You fuck " Reign stood in front of me with his phone in his hands. He was furious...

Shit... Of all the things I did to fool him. I used his dad, someone he's conscious about.

So he went to grab his phone rather than go to his house?

I didn't know about this setting… No, It wasn't even in the story! Darn… Was this world making new settings to make the story realistic?

If so I severely underestimated the harshness of Terran…

Tsk… This isn't the time to think about this stuff. Reign saw me on the fountain. Did he see me exit the trapdoor? Shit…

I was nervous. How was I going to explain this discovery if he were to tell on me? A Wanderer who is supposed to have no memories of Terran went inside a fountain and stole some treasure without telling anyone. My secrets… no, my life will be in danger if this leaks.

I couldn't even use the accident excuse as there was no one with me that'll take the blame in pushing me onto the fountain. How did I reach the centerpiece of the fountain by myself when I mention it was an accident? Oh, I wanted to wet my feet and decided to take a stroll on the fountain.

That's one sure way to get kicked out of Sense that's for sure. I'll be in a hospital so that they'd put some sense in me.

What should I say it was an emergency. Would his dad still send a message even if it's an emergency? No... I'm sure he knows more about him than me.

It seems like I have to pull the classic card…

" Who are you? " I say with a casual yet playful expression. This is the only thing I can do. My hair was hiding my face when I first talked to Reign, so I'll have to rely on my acting skill with this one.

" You fucker. I remember those clothes " Reign grows angrier as he seems to be annoyed with me for making him to be a fool.

"These are the clothes the medics give to their staff. Are you perhaps a part of the medic ward? Is it the mental department? " I say to make it seem like I was a different person as the clothes were common. He didn't see my face earlier so It should be somewhat effective.

" What…" Reign looks at me with a confused and conflicted expression. It seems like he's finally second-guessing himself.

" I'm sorry if I don't remember you " I'm quite busy after all.

" … " Reign looks at the floor trying to remember the scene from earlier as best as he could.

But that was enough time for me to escape his eyes and make my way to Ms. Ging and the others.

that was… dangerous.

It seems like I've been too casual with all of this. This is an actual world. Not just some story I used to read. There are a lot of setting I don't know about even if I'd like to think so. This is not something I can underestimate if I want to live in this world… if I don't want that to happen again.

I was let off successfully and I don't intend to be lucky twice.

" Hello, Ms. Ging " I say casually the moment I arrived next to her. She was still there on the spot I left her, standing with the others. I guess I was just on time, as she did have an annoyed expression on her face, but they were still there and didn't bother to look for me yet.

" Uhmmm… who?... " Ms. Ging turns to me with a confused expression.

Oh right… I had my hair down during all my interactions with Ms. Ging. I'm not even shocked she didn't who I was. It was quite a common occurrence back on Earth too.

" Oh, youngster Mon. Where did you go kid? " Jaime who was next to her recognized my face as they did see me unconscious when they discovered me after the lizardman incident. I'm sure my face showed when they carried me.

" I'm sorry sir Jaime. I got lost as the school was massive. " I say instantly as I was already prepared to answer that question.

" I see, then why are you so wet? Did you go swimming in the toilet bowl? " Jaime laughs.

" Ahh… the sink suddenly exploded on me so… " I say meekly while also laughing.

" Wait… I'm sorry Mr. Mon you looked a little different. But I was saying you should bring someone with you before you decided to run off! Look what happened " Ms. Ging stares at me with quite an annoyed face.

" I'm sorry Ms. I wasn't thinking straight as it was very urgent. "

" Hmm... are you sure you want to be under the medic part? How about becoming an actor? With that face, I'm sure you'd find success pretty easily. " Ms. Ging praises my face, but it was obvious she was still trying to keep me off Sense.

" Ah. I have no interest in that area... " At least not anymore.

" Oh... I see. "

" Anyways here. Take this. " Ms. Ging opens her purse and grabs a phone from it.

" Take this, I don't want this scenario to happen again. "
