Universe: Er-38us

It's dark, it has always been dark since the dawn of time. Millennia a passing by, sparkless, silent, but that doesn't mean that it didn't have life- far from it, it bursted with life left, right and center. Mindless creatures acting upon their desires as they bravely navigated thru the lightless lands they inhabited, unafraid, for there was no light to gaze upon their actions. They believed themselves to be smart, almighty, conquerors of smaller entities, only bowing down to creatures bigger than themselves. That was the way of these lawless lands, survival of the fittest, The strong living in indulgence and luxury whilst the weak scampered about, hiding in-between the cracks of old, praying to live for another day.

The strong believed themselves to be akin to gods, doing as they pleased, fooling themselves to be the kings of the universe, thinking themselves to be the ultimate lifeforms, psyching themselves up on every chance they could. The weak didn't fare much better, they trampled over those weaker to them, to only difference was, they had creatures above them, those of which they wouldn't dare to oppose, behemoths, capable of wisping away their very existence. These creatures all acted the same, that is, if you wouldn't account for the weakest beings, they were the only truly pure life form, moth like in resemblance, feeding only off of air, being slightly translucent with a soft-like exoskeleton, furr adorning their thorax and ligaments, resembling fur coats and bracelets, having pectinate shaped antennae, resembling laurel wreath crowns. What set them apart from the rest doubled as their greatest weakness, they emitted a faint glow. If it were any other universe they would be fine, but in this one- they stood out like a sore thumb, for darkness was one of the biggest forms of camouflage the weak used to ensure their lives, yet these beings opposed that notion by their very nature.

These beings could be found all around the universe, small in population. They always had this glow from the very beginning, their only saving grace being that the other creatures hadn't evolved to be able to see their glow, but millennia has past. What made them once unique and beautiful had now placed them at the bottom of the taxonomic hierarchy. You'd think that these species would be long extinct, yet they still prevailed, from the very beginning until now, they still lived, crawling, inching their way thru the gloomy realms they called home, struggling every waking moment to stay alive, obstinate as to keep their glow. Yet sadly, they were fighting a losing battle, eons, blood, sweat and tears just to stay alive, to live another day, to watch their young grow old, it all seemed like a pipe dream. Yet, unaware of it themselves, they still had something up their sleeves. You see, as their population decreased, so did the intensity of their glow, now, that just sounds even worse, and so did the other creatures think as well, it just made them an easier target. This thought was held until the very last second, until there were only 2 more of these creatures left, the events that were about to unfold would not be forgotten for the rest of the universe's lifespan.

As the abominable creatures surrounded them, they could only feel one thing, the sense of giving up, all this struggling for what. They didn't know why they were living at that point, they wondered how they got to survive for so long, they were in disarray. One of them started to darken, the other one started to brighten, this weird feeling started to well up on every being that was there, the behemoths, for the first time in their life felt this unexampled feeling, its was fear... They felt dread to their very core, the glowing moth started expanding an glowing stronger by the second, a glow so vibrant it began forming into light, blinding light, earth-shattering light, for the first time in the universe's existence there was true light, the moth grew unendingly, turning ethereal in form, becoming the size of a size of a red giant in a matter of seconds- in the blink of an eye, it illuminated the whole universe. All the information of their species flooded to its' head, all the pain and suffering, all the struggle, every single waking second that each and every one of his species delt with, crashing into his brain, if they still had their pea-sized brain, they would have died in a matter of milliseconds, but with their ever so expanding brain they welcomed all the information with open arms, they started to feel a mix of emotion; anger, sadness, befuddlement, all sorts of emotions swearling in their head until- silence...

A couple of seconds passed by, they felt it, this was... Enlightenment. They heard the universe call to them, gifting them a name: "Ao, the embodiment of light, the first god of this universe, the gatekeeper of knowledge, the great benevolence of moth." They found their purpose. It was to guide and gift the creatures in the universe with knowledge and kindness, once and for all giving light to the suffocatingly dark existence that we call life. That is Ao.
