1 Chapter 1 New Beginnings

Our story begins with a male semi-animal humanoid being with a foxtail and two differently colored eyes as he lays on the ground completely unconscious. His eyes were blue and orange and his tail was orange and white although the hair on his head was a dark brown color and didn't resemble the tail apart from it being quite messy. But his messy fur and hair will be the least of his problems when he embarks on a grand adventure learning who he is and how he got to this world but of course, we can't forget the people he will meet along the way. He began to wake up still laying on the ground he saw the sky while some clouds passed by he tried to think about where he was. He decided he couldn't remember and instead would find out for himself by searching the surrounding area. As he sat up he seen that he was in a grassy plains area with the wind blowing peacefully.

Still sitting on the ground a shadow bolted by as something passed overhead but to his surprise whatever it was going by too fast to even catch a glimpse of. As it passed the grass began to be blown harder and you could hear a loud roaring sound from where it had gone. Still unsure of where he was or what he should do he decided that it would be best to avoid whatever flew over him and head in the opposite direction. He began to stand up and started walking towards where the thing had come from. He began to walk towards a hill that was in the opposite direction of that thing. However when he began walking it was much more of a stumble as if he was still learning how to walk. As he stumbled towards the hill making progress slowly and steadily he fell a few times and got a bit scraped up before finally reaching the top of the hill. As he made it to the top of the hills he sat down and was breathing heavily as if he had run a marathon.

He peered over the land in front of him and seen a few huts made of straw and mud as he stared at them he realized that the huts were on fire and smoking. Still, out of breath from climbing the hill he sat there and watched knowing that he couldn't do anything even if he wanted to. Knowing this he laid back and started looking at the sky wondering if that creature could've done that to the huts. Eventually, he caught his breath and sat back up. Once he did he seen a crowd of other semi-animal humanoid people marching toward the same hill he was on. He didn't pay them much attention and instead looked at the huts that are now just a smoldering pile of ash. He turned his attention back to the people who were moving away from what used to be the huts. They were now a few yards away from him but they haven't noticed him sitting on top of the hill just yet.

When they got to the top he resembled them very closely and so they tried talking to him but he couldn't understand anything they said. Knowing that if he said anything to them it wouldn't make a difference so he just sat there with a puzzled look on his face trying to understand whatever it was they were saying. He finally decided to say "I don't understand what your saying." By the time he spoke those words everyone that surrounded him knew that no matter what they said he wouldn't understand. One of the men grabbed his hand and motioned for him to follow him as he led everyone away from the village. He turned back and seen the people now running as the only way he managed to keep up was thanks to the man pulling him as he stumbled barely managing to stand. As he looked behind him he heard many people yell the word "goblins."

It was the only word he managed to understand as he was being dragged away while trying to run. One of the creatures they had called a goblin had jumped out in front of them as they were running. They turned to make a retreat but more of the goblins blocked the path. They were little green creatures with daggers and clubs who seemed to have rather low intelligence. They appeared to be almost mindless as they swung their weapons to attack the other people who were trying to run away. As he looked around he caught a glimpse of a goblin devouring the flesh of one of the dead people who weren't fast enough to run away. Looking around at all of the terrified people screaming and yelling he realized without understanding a single word that they were all going to die. Not knowing why he jumped at one of the goblins and punched him knocking him out of the way of the others allowing them to run.

He turned to see that all of the goblins were now facing him and that all of the others had gotten away safely. He was now staring at fifteen goblins as they all stared back. Knowing that he couldn't take them all on at the same time he thought about trying to flee but knowing he couldn't manage to run without stumbling he gave up on that idea and instead picked up the goblins dagger. Knowing that his best chance of survival was to try and fight them he held the dagger out in front of him with two hands yelling "Don't take another step." However, the goblins didn't seem to understand what he said either. As the goblins began to charge at him he started thinking if this was the right choice but then he suddenly heard a voice in his head he could understand clearly. The voice started saying "You can't die yet." Upon hearing this he was given a burst of energy and could now think more clearly.

Unsure of why the voice spoke to him or why it gave him a burst of energy he stood there holding his dagger as all fifteen of the goblins started charging at him. The first two goblins started to leap at him but before he could think his body started moving on its own again and he threw the dagger into the goblin's head and punched the dagger deeper into the goblin. The second goblin nearly managed to hit him with the club as he ducked under it and pulled the dagger out of the goblin's head. He then said, "one down fourteen to go." After he finished saying this he walked over to the other goblin who tried hitting him with the club and slammed his head into the ground. After he killed the goblin he started counting down as he said "thirteen." He charged at the goblins who jumped into the air swinging their daggers as if they were miniature swords. But before they could hit him he fell and dropped his dagger.

Once on the ground, he rolled over avoiding a dagger that would've gone into his back as he hurried to his feet and said "Luck don't fail me now." He looked around frantically for some sort of weapon but all he could see was a club that one of the goblins dropped. He picked up the club and swung it with all his might and hit one of the goblins in the head. Once the club made contact with the goblins head the goblin's skull was pushed in and the club broke into two. Once the body of the goblin hit the ground he waited a few seconds before saying "twelve." After he took down the goblin he searched for where the weapon had gone but before he could find it he saw an arrow fly out of the tree's leaves as it hit one of the goblins piercing through its head and sticking it into the ground.

He looked down at the arrow with the goblin's body still attached as he did this he quickly grabbed the arrow out of its head and lodged it into one of the other goblin's chest as he said "eleven" and "ten." He looked at the trees for a moment and noticed that they were at least fifty yards away and that whoever shot that arrow had to have just gotten there. Upon closer inspection, he saw the same man who pulled him away from the ash of the huts and away from the goblins. The man in the trees was holding a bow and getting ready to fire another arrow. As he launched the arrow it went through two goblins followed by him yelling something and having more of them run out of the forest. As they started running towards him he stood there smiling as breathing heavily as he said "Looks like my luck hasn't run out just yet and it looks like I'll live to see another day."

As the people charged at the goblins with their makeshift spears and shields they yelled more words that he couldn't understand but before he could turn around to face the goblins he felt a pain in his back as he fell to the ground. The goblin managed to stab him in the back with its dagger. He screamed out in agony as he felt the goblin twist the dagger deeper into him as his blood began to run down his back. He began to lose a mass amount of blood and began to lose consciousness. But before he blacked out he heard the voice repeat itself "You can't die yet." Once he was fully unconscious he woke up in a field of flowers with a bright light hiding a girl's face while she was saying "Do you remember me yet." He replied with "no." She said, "That's fine but soon you will know who I am and you will soon know what your capable of, and any other questions you have will soon be answered soon."

But before he could respond to what she said he woke up inside a house with a bandage around his stand wound carefully wrapped around him. The man in the room with him said "Do you feel alright?" But he ignored the question and instead asked "How am I able to understand you?" The man said, "I'm the only person in this village who can use translation magic." The man repeated his question and so when he answered with "I feel fine now." The man asked, "Do you have a name?" After three minutes of complete silence, the man said "If you don't get a name how about I give you one?" He nodded his head and said, "What kind of name will you give me?" The man sat and thought for a while and eventually settled on the name Thomas. Thomas then asked the man "Where am I?" The man said, "You're in Demihuman territory of course where else would you be?" The man asked if he'd like to learn the Demi-human language since he didn't speak it very well.

He nodded and asked, "How will I learn it?" The man said, "I'll teach you of course we can't have you going about in a world where no one understands you." The man said, "You helped save both my wife and my daughter it's the least I could do and I will forever be in your debt." Thomas then said, "Don't worry about it since I'd also be dead if you didn't patch me up." After the man and Thomas, both expressed their gratitude the man asked "Would you mind helping out the town make repairs and hunt in your free time?" Thomas replied with "I got a lot of free time and I still owe you so I can help you out besides you also gonna be teaching me how to speak without the translation spell." The man said, "Thank you I'll tell them what you say and I'll tell you what they need and then I'll leave it to you." Thomas stuck his thumb up with a grin and said "No problem." The man walked out of the room and said "Follow me I'll lead you to the person you'll be helping."

As he got up to leave the room he noticed a fresh pair of clothing sitting next to him as the man walked back into the room he said "Please put on the clothes I've left for you since it wouldn't be very humane of you to walk around naked." Thomas looked down and said, "I thought it was a little drafty." He put on the clothes and met up with the man outside as he led him to another small hut. The man said to the woman in the hut "This is Thomas he will be helping out in the village with anything you'll need so if you or anyone else need him to do anything just ask me to tell him what you need to be done." The woman asked, "Is that a good idea with his injuries." The man said, "He is the one who volunteered to help out with the town's reconstruction, and that helping was my choice." Unsure of the conversation they were having Thomas sat down on the ground and wondered how they built a whole town overnight or if they just had a separate location prepared.

After the two talked for a while the man said "She needs someone to go hunting and help gather food with so she can help provide for her family." Thomas still not paying attention was walking back and forth practicing his balance said "Sure no problem." The man said "Great then grab a spear, shield, and get ready to set a trap" Thomas looked at him and said, "Wait what are we talking about." The man said, "Your going to be helping this lady hunt and gather food." Thomas looked blankly at the man and said "piece of cake." The man turned back to the lady and said "He'll do it." The man turned back to me and said "Looks like she'll be the first person your gonna help out just be sure not to overwork yourself and remember to be careful since the last thing we need is another death." Thomas said, "Don't worry about that but how come you still haven't told me your name."

The man looked puzzled and said, "Did I not tell you my name yet." Thomas looked at the man waiting for an answer as the man said "Call me Jake". Thomas said "I finally know your name any way it's good to meet you Jake." Jake then said "It nice meeting you to although it would've been better if we were introduced before the attack." After standing there for a few minutes Jake said "Why are you still wasting time here you better go and help her before the sun goes down and then you'll really have a problem." Thomas said "Your right so tell her to lead the way."
