Chapter 2

As time passed, the eggs began to crack open and hatch. The newly hatched demon came in various forms, some resembling little humanoids, others like small animals that walked on all fours, and even those that resembled insects, some with wings that looked capable of flight.

It was clear that the term "demon" contained a diverse collection of creatures within their species. However, Arthur couldn't help but notice the differences between them and himself. They appeared drier, with less goo on their bodies compared to his messy birth. Moreover, they were generally larger and stronger than him, making him wonder if his premature birth had something to do with it.

After hatching, these newly born demons displayed peculiar behaviour. Instead of displaying a particular plan or purpose, they immediately began consuming the eggshells. The entire beach resonated with the sound of thousands of tiny demons munching on their eggshells in unison, creating an eerie and unsettling atmosphere.

As Arthur watched cautiously, he felt no immediate connection with these creatures. What struck him was their apparent difference from him. They appeared stronger and better adapted to this environment, and it was clear that they were driven by instinct to devour their eggshells,

After some time, these newly hatched demons did something that left Arthur in shock. About twenty meters away from him, a demon with no eye, a short tail, and black, greasy skin had picked up a stone.

This peculiar demon approached an area near the sea where there were still unhatched demon eggs. It proceeded to target one of these eggs and began relentlessly hitting it with the stone until the eggshell cracked open.

As the eggshell fractured, the goo inside spilt out, and a tiny demon within the eggshell started to Panic, realizing it was in grave danger. It attempted to escape, but the one-eyed demon continued to mercilessly strike it with the stone.

The pitiful little demon screamed in agony, but it had no means to defend itself, trapped within the eggshell. As the relentless blows fell, the cries grew weaker and eventually ceased entirely. The brutal scene unfolded before Arthur's eyes,

Even more shocking, this one-eyed demon was not alone in its cruel actions. Many others were doing the same, seemingly cooperating to destroy unhatched eggs and ruthlessly kill the newly hatched demons. It was a gruesome scene, made all the more horrifying by the fact that the perpetrators celebrated their actions, clapping and laughing as if it were some kind of twisted game.

Even the weakest among them, the newly hatched larvae, showed a cruel and merciless side. Arthur watched in disbelief as the demons around him continued to kill their fellow beings and revelled in the grim spectacle.

One of the four-eyed demons near Arthur had just finished its terrible task. From the bodies of the demons it had killed, small balls of light began to float out. Before they could escape, the four-eyed demon swiftly captured them with its hands.

Once it had collected these luminous orbs, the demon threw them into its mouth and swallowed them. Almost immediately, it began to tremble

Arthur, observes this strange scene.

"That ball is... a soul?"

Arthur realized. A revelation struck him – these small, orbs were indeed souls, and the demons around him were devouring them.

This seemed to be a manifestation of madness inherent in the nature of demons. It explained why legends often linked souls to demons. As he watched in horrified fascination, it dawned on him that the merciless act of soul consumption was not reserved for the strong; even the weakest among them showed no mercy.

Seeing the demons' actions, Arthur recognized an opportunity to acquire his first soul. It was a chance to survive and thrive in this harsh demon world, which demanded strength and slyness above all else.

With determination and his mind racing, Arthur picked up a rock and rushed toward an unhatched demon egg.

As he approached, he struck the eggshell with the rock repeatedly, cracking it open. Egg liquid oozed out, and from within, a demon with a sharp, worm-like appearance emerged, struggling to realize the danger it was in.

The creature's gruesome form made it easier for Arthur to strike it relentlessly with the rock. The demon's body turned into a gruesome mess, a blend of white and purple demon blood that created a nauseating and grisly sight.

With a sense of disgust and trepidation, Arthur had completed his first act of killing. He collected a small ball of light that represented the demon's soul. Although it appeared dim and small, suggesting it might not be of high quality, it was still a step forward.

Arthur now held his first soul, an essential requirement for enhancing his abilities and surviving in this world full of ruthless demons.

Due to his curiosity, Arthur picks up a broken eggshell.

"This tastes like dirt"

Eating the eggshell only left a disgusting

After effect, he wonders if the knowledge could only be attained by the demon inside or if was there some kind of requirement, he pounders for a while.

After some time Arthur just dissed the idea as collected the soul of the demon he had slain, a sense of unease remained in the air.

The beach was still teeming with demons that continued devouring souls, creating a chaotic and nightmarish scene. Their joyful claps and laughter, as they celebrated their cruel actions, echoed through the eerie moonlit night.

Amidst this unsettling spectacle, a sudden change occurred. One of the knights, the one with a distinctive mark on his armour, abruptly departed from the chaotic scene. It was as if he had lost interest in the grim festivities.

The knight's departure caught Arthur's attention, and he watched as the knight moved away from the beach and into the darkness, vanishing from view. It was an unexpected turn of events, leaving Arthur with a sense of uncertainty and intrigue.

As he stood amidst the carnage, holding the dimly glowing soul he had acquired, Arthur couldn't help but wonder about the motives of these knights. They had shown no sign of taking part in the merciless killing of their fellow demons and consuming their souls.

In the distance, the purple moon continued to cast its mysterious light over the beach, where demons celebrated their brutal acts.
