156 Close Call

The ground at the bottom of the five buildings of the Grand Hexagon was carpeted by a vast stretch of concrete pavement.

Underneath the blazing sun, the concrete resembled an idyllic lagoon, one that sparkled amidst the scorching rays.

Every time he and Quinn had come up to the roof, Hade had noticed that the whole place was almost always uninhabited. There were no patrols, no operators, not even a single passer-by scuttling about.

Although this oddity had given rise to some inhibitions and feelings of apprehension, Hade's need, or rather, his desperation, to complete his next task trumped his reason....

'In retrospect, I probably should have given the matter a bit more thought!'

Plummeting down from the roof of the first years, Hade's heart raced with adrenaline-fueled panic. What had begun as a calculated descent had morphed into a perilous freefall!
